I'm working on Christmas cards today - just uploaded a few to my gallery. Playing around with a fun background technique that I learned from Operation Write Home: OWH Stars and Stamps: Tuesday Tutorial - Scrappy Backgrounds! . I also used this technique on one of my HYCCT cards - it was perfect for sewsplendidstamper's day 4 "Strip Please" challenge.

It does look good. it reminds me of a quilting technique, "strips that sizzle" it's lots of fun with fabric and would probably work just as well with paper. hmmm....
I'm working on a set of cards. I forgot how boring making the same thing over and over can be but it will be a great present.
Any Cat's Pajamas fans here? I just got a message from Top Cat Kitty herself that she's doing a big release next week and has invited all Swanky Stampers to participate - I am psyched.

I've been working on some Chirstmas cards too. It is bore-ing to do the same over and over. Each one this year will be different. Now that's a chore too!! But a fun one.
I hope everyone has a good w/e.

Actually, Ducks are playing Stanford this weekend. Civil War is next weekend. (My BFF might be the biggest Ducks fan around - she keeps me up to date on all that stuff!)
Stacy, you have done an awesome job on your booth! It just invites you to come and browse. Hope you have a fantastic day today!
Scootsv, was the concert amazing? I'm just a little green with envy here.
Everyone have a fun day and send me some good karma for a productive day. I need to get Christmas cards out of the way - and get going on a wedding card that needs to be pretty special. Her colors are ivory, navy and silver, and I would like to use all three, but my brain isn't quite getting silver and ivory...
The Vienna Boys Choir was great. We have very good local sponsors that help to pay the costs so our tickets are not that expensive. The boys are 10 to 14 and what gorgeous clear voices! Yes I have to say it was amazing!

that bunny is just plain lovable. I don't know what he's doing but it's sure to be fun. Now the penquins, I'm always expecting to see them behind bars. They just crack me up.
I don't like fish either, Val. I live on the Oregon coast...and I don't eat fish! Our friends are used to it by now but they still offer just to rub it in. Hubby loves to fish...mostly salmon and steelhead. He also crabs and clams a lot. I don't mind going with him in the muck to dig clams (it's actually kind of fun and VERY good exercise), but forget about me helping to clean them or eat them. A girl has got to draw the line somewhere! LOL!
Tammie, My daughter used to live in Oregon and when we would be there, one of her neighbors would bring over fresh salmon for us. It was soooooo good and we really appreciated it. She does not live there anymore and I miss that! Salmon is my best and Chili's has very good salmon!
Good morning all! I was planning to spend today in my crfat room catching up with all of you and finishing getting ready for my craft sale next wekend. That plan changed last night at 2 am. I awoke to a soft "hello" in my bedroom. It was my daughter! She came home from university for the weekend to surprise us. She had planned to come home last weekend but was unable to because of a snow storm. We were both disappointed but decided we'd have to wait until Christmas. I'm just waiting for her to wake up and then my day is all hers. I feel like a kid at Christmas!
Have fun today and I will check in later sometime.
By the time I am getting to this, you should have had a great day with your daughter! What a great surprise! Enjoy! - - Two of my kids from Arizona did that to me one Christmas when I did not think they were coming home! Soooo nice!!!
my hubby has gout and I was quite surprised that his doctor told him that there were no dietary restrictions. when my father had gout he had restrictions but it was so long ago I couldn't remember much, I just remembered "nothing rich and no deadly night shades". So I did a little looking around and couldn't find anything restrictive but I did find a post that said that coffee was a good thing for it. so here I was trying to get him off half and half and coffee and the only thing I found told him to enjoy it.
I'm thinking you have a more severe case.
BTW the only nightshades I can remember are tomatoes and eggplant - try to keep an Italian away from them.
Chris, it seems strange, but several of my friends who have gout have received different instructions from their doctors. Several are like me and understand that we are to stay away from a lot of things that can cause the problem. One man was not given any restrictions except for alcohol and red meat. Some of these friends are on pills to prevent gout; others are not. It is confusing as to why the instructions are different. I'm told that pork is as bad as red meat. Cherries, particularly tart cherries are a good preventive measure. My gout is not all that severe, and most the info I got was online from reputable sites. I look forward to the "education" part of my next visit with the kidney doc. He will put me on some preventative meds and talk about diet. One thing on the "allowed" list is chocolate, so how about that?!
I think your cards are great and worth every penny of 3.50. If I ever set up a booth I plan to have a couple Hallmark cards on hand so people can be reminded of what they pay for blah, blah, blah cookie cutter, nothing original, cards. I bet Hallmark cards cost the same where ever you live and they are not cheap, unless you buy the budget ones.
I totally agree about the Hallmark and other name brand cards. People will spend well over $5.50 for one. Thanks for the compliment on my cards. The feedback I get here on SCS is always so encouraging. At first I was afraid to post cards, but now even when I try something new that doesn't work so well, I am still comfortable letting people see it. I have learn so very, very much from tutorials, challenges and other crafters here. I LOVE SCS and the friends I've made here!!!

I need to make two cards for home-bound ladies in my S.S. class today. I'll look at this week's challenges for an idea. I also need to write 3 cards from my stash to drop at the P.O. near church tomorrow. The "craft" I'm doing today is practicing my craft of teaching. I'm finishing up my S.S. lesson for tomorrow's class.
Good Morning Peeps!!! Late night last night chatting on FB! I moved Raul into his room last night... now to use him, I'm SO afraid of scarring him!!!! lol Raul is my BSPro.... my pool boy!
I saw your FB post last night but was confused about Raul. Now I understand. I am in the market for a new machine and this one may be it. 40% off is still a little steep. My Vagabond gave out on me the other night after having it for one year. I only paid 112 bucks for it with coupons at AC Moore. No more electric tools for me! The arm still knows how to crank, lol!
Nope! NOT electric I down graded in that area, but the Big Shot Pro is capable of using ALL DIES, thick thin long short.... ALL DIES... including the Grand Calibur. ONE MACHINE!!!! Chris you MUST get it....
Sounds like the best of all worlds. I love my Big Shot machine. I won the Grand Calibur which is nice, but won't take a full 8.5 x 11 page. I think it will only take 8" wide, which seems like a design flaw to me. Why didn't they add that little bit extra???
Still working on wedding card. Thanks Tammie and Sheri for your suggestions. My cave looks like a tornado hit it because I have dragged out everything but the kitchen sink trying to decide what to do with it. Had a "duh" moment when I remembered that one of my DTGD cards was made with this wedding in mind! Unfortunately it's all white, but I'm CASEing it with ivory, silver, and navy.
Peggy - I thought about the Christmas Card challenge and it's a super idea. With my stuff organized (?) the way it is I just need to be able to pack Christmas stuff away when I'm not using it. Not really stressing, all the ones I need to mail are finished. I'm just ready to pack it up and have a little more room Maybe I'll figure out something, though!
KJ - Be gentle with Raul. It's his first time...

Thanks for that link. I love using scraps, strips, and making quilt backgrounds. This is a new look to add to my ideas.
It's the prize machine that never ends!
yes it goes on and on, my friend
somebody picked a number, not knowing what it'd do
and they'll continue with prizes
forever just because it's the prize machine that never ends...
I should have known this wasn't a good craft fair project; way too much labor, but they're really pretty. They end up about 4 1/4" in size. Any ideas on pricing ladies? The Laura/Gail Version
