Yay for more winners! I guess I should go down and join my mom as she's rifling through my basement cleaning up my son's old room. I really should help as I've been looking forward to expanding my stamping area into that space, but it has been such a mess that there's no way to move on over without tackling his junk first.
I think that is always true. But particularly so for challenges like HYCCT and the DTGD week, when people are so busy making cards that they have even less time to comment! Especially the days with more than one card .
But after the challenges are over and you have finished your cards, if everyone would pick just one gallery and comment on the cards where not much love was left, it would make a big difference to someone and would keep them coming back and increase their fun.

You do such a wonderful job with the comments, Jean! Gifted that way. Your words are warm and fun. After a while, mine start sounding all the same.

Hmmmm....just realized I can get BOGO on my plane rides today and keep up with all the chatter...
Congrats to all the winners yesterday!
I am going to guess 880,000 views.
Here is a cat pic...
I hear ya Gail! We still have "stuff" from DD that we need to eventually get to her.....methinks she's happy to have us be her storage place!
My parents shocked us all when just a few months after I got married they sold the house they'd lived in for almost my whole life and moved into a town home. We were basically given an ultimatum to come and get it before they tossed it.
I am new to SSS and had trouble figuring some things out. Is there a way to tell that you have new comments and where they are?
Emily- I just haunt my gallery, to see if there's been any recent comments. Hungry for validation, I guess... Anyway-- I just left you a comment on your banner birthday card. Lots of cards uploaded on Halloween. Your tricks, our treats?

Hi Emily, Welcome Back. Lydia and Lee are probably better with the answers on this but if you have your email notifications turned on in your profile (you access that by clicking on your username in the upper right of the page) and if when you uploaded a card, you changed the "want to be notified by email" to Yes (bottom right of the first upload page), you should get email notifications when someone makes a comment. You can also check your gallery ("My gallery") on the left side bar and looks to see if a card has comments. Does that help?

That's a great idea!
I try when I can to comment on cards when I see someone doesn't have many comments. Can't always do that with so many responsibilities but I try really hard to do that on the challenges I frequent like CCC or VSN (when I play) Didn't get a chance to for the mini.
I would love to comment more - and should - but I have a nine month old at time and I barely have enough time to get the challenges done!!
I certainly wasn't trying to judge anyone! I hope I didn't give you that impression. I have way more time on my hands now that my kids are older. When mine were little I only stalked on splitcoast...I don't think I uploaded a card for years much less leave any comments.

Oh, Emily, my goodness, you did a lot of HYCCT challenges--you may have done them all, I didn't count. Your cards look great. I'm commenting on a few now.

You can go into the HYCCT gallery and resort the cards by # of comments put in ascending order. That way, the cards with the least comments come up first and they can get some love!
When I was doing a lot less challenges and just putting cards into the main gallery I was so discouraged by never getting comments. I used to sort the main gallery this way and leave comments. There would be PAGES of cards with no comments at all on them.
I wonder what Lydia is having for lunch. I hope she doesn't take time to wash dishes after. I really am trying to be patient, but it's just not in my genes! It's time for me to take a nap, but I don't want to miss anything. Then I have to run to the P.O., and I'll be gone after 6:30 CST this evening.
Lady... oops, no that's Birdee - one of the cats that I babysit (kitty-sit) likes to think she can hide behind this sheer curtain.
edited to correct kitty's name. I always get them mixed up.

Bravo, Girl. Bravo. I used to do this at night on the day's uploads but then got to where I forgot about it. I really need to do this more. I think if someone takes the time to do a card, photograph it, upload it, link it to a gallery, they deserve some recognition for their effort, at least from the hostess or design team on the challenge or event. We can't get 'em all, but if we all did a few, I think it would make a difference. Sorta like the old "sand dollar" story--"It made a difference to this one."
The paying members on SCS obviously tend to get more comments as they are part of a large group that has a very good following and have been friends for a long time. I don't tend to feel hurt if I don't get the same attention with comments on my cards as my name is not that well known and many others are the same. As long as the newcomers to the site are aware then they would understand. I just love posting cards to see any reaction and love the opportunity to share. Love this program of sharing cards with people diagnosed with Cancer. Thanks....
I did notice that if participate in the daily challenges, you'll get more comments. Yes, comments are nice but I love making cards & having 1 comment or 20 comments, it's no biggie for me.

I don't think this is necessarily true, and I'm so sorry you have somehow gotten that impression. I don't pay to be a part of a group. To be quite honest, I'm a little self-centered in that regard. I pay so that I can get instant uploads, without waiting for moderator approval. I don't think I belong to a large group. I do participate in challenges now and again and I more often than not enjoy the VSN challenges and I have made many online friends through those two things, but I certainly hope we have not made anyone feel excluded in any way. That is not what our community is about. And what is nice is that you certainly can browse the galleries without feeling that you need to comment and that is a good thing.
I'm so glad that my SU demonstrator told me about SCS years ago when I first started stamping, there's so many ideas & wonderful inspiration. I have a hard time trying to think of an idea so it doesn't hurt to look at the galleries. I am also a paid member because I do like the instant uploads & actually it's not a bad price either.

I knew I could get notifications if I checked the box during uploading but I never noticed anything in the left sidebar that let me know I had comments. What's there?

No, I was just pointing out where the "My Gallery" link was located. Sorry about the confusion.
