Gluten seems to be causing me to sneeze even when I don't ingest it......... and it's baking day today.
Apple pie is done, 2 pumpkin pies are half-baked.......... and we discover a gas leak.
So... that could have been worse! But things sure haven't gone according to plan so far. DH is on the way to find a new regulator thingie, hoping to beat the rain. Hope that fixes the problem... I still have a lot of cooking to do!
Eeek! Scary Dina!

Hey one of you said Michaels was open today, I just got back. Goodness, tons of people already at this hour.
Yes, that is a tragedy what happened in Texas & what the outcome was. I heart goes out to everyone involved.
I'm going to start pre-cutting my Christmas cards, I would like to make 50 with 2 different designs plus my 15 fish Christmas cards so that will be 65 cards.
Gosh, Connie, that sounds like a lot of work all at once. Also sounds like you would benefit from joining the Christmas card challenge, CCC13, for next year. I make 8 cards a month Jan-Nov and have a wonderful stash ready to go by Dec. 1st. I still have to make my 8 for Nov.

Oh my, that's scary about the gas leak. Here's a card for days like today:
My helper was the most scared, I think - she was standing there cooking when it started hissing... afterwards she was asking what makes things blow up... poor thing!
Guess I'll put my casseroles together while I'm waiting, and put something in the crockpot for dinner.
I have been away for a couple of days.
I ended up in the ocean to the West of Ireland - Not much fun there!
Congrats to all the winners I have seen. Anxious to see who the rest are - tomorrow! Good night to all
I needed new cutting mats for my Cricut, then my daughter picked out the Picturesque cartridge for $19.99 & I got gold & silver ep. I held off on the Spellbinders, gosh it was hard to make a decision on one...good deals though at Michaels.

If you were only just off the coast you could have swum ashore and taken a trip east to visit Bridget and me
While I was awake in the night I heard a news feature on Walmart staff and a protest against them having to work on Thanksgiving. But I didn't hear anything about that accident - it looks horrific.
I hope you all had a safe and happy day yesterday.
it's been a long day for me. It's 3AM now and I'm finally going to beddy bye. See you all tomorrow, unless you're out shopping. If I buy it tomorrow it''ll be online.
Good morning ladies. I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and to the ones that are out on this black Friday I hope you are safe and find what you want.
I'm going to enable a bit....... This is my favorite favorite ebay store, where I always buy Quickutz dies - I just got 4 sets of their nesting dies for $11 each (they are reg. $25) - finally got the hexagon set, which is 17 pieces... it has always sold out other times they have sales. (Get on their mailing list - they have sales quite frequently!)
I poked around a little bit after I checked out, and noticed a couple other great deals - Our Daily Bread stamps are 50% off, and I saw some Sizzix embossing folders that were 70% off.

I got the Lifestyle Crafts nesting dies (inverted squares) a few years ago and there are 18 dies in there - amazing value for $11 - the lip isn't as wide as on Spellbinders for the embossed effect but they cut beautifully. I was on the website there, Dina, and there are some amazing prices!

my washing machine decided to go on the fritz but, when we called wed. the authorized maytag guy in town the soonest he can come is next monday.
hopefully you can do the dishes in the sink and such.
(I am not doing laundry in the bath tub lol...) but, we have enough clothes there will just be a ton to wash if he can fix it monday hopefully it doesn't need a part that takes 2 weeks to come in)

Hope you can get your washing fixed soon, Stacy. Snow and freezing is so rare here, last time we had a big freeze the water froze in my machine (outdoor unheated shed) and in the pipes. Nothing broke, but even when water was finally running in it wasn't running out - big mess! I was just on the point of taking some to a neighbour before we built up too much of a backlog, but the weather eased up a bit.

Bummer on the washing machine, Stacy! That's way worse than the dishwasher. We never had a dishwasher before we bought this house. But I have had one the whole time we've had kids. It will take a little getting used to.

there is all occasion cards too ( and I always forget to link to that one) this one is other holidays and like birthdays/anniversaries type cards you need to make... its an reminder list type challenge to me.
I taught my son ( 16 1/2) to do his own laundry... and the washing machine has been acting funny ever since. ( I think he is over filling it and the strain has made it decide to not work right) but, my original maytag washer still worked at 18+ years old and my dryer died so I bought a new "pair" and these new ones have computer chips in them... so, my husband wont even look at it.
if it dies the next one will not have a computer in it ( crosses fingers they still make such a thing) haha

We had a washer in a small room that was added to the back of our first house in VA. Whoever built the room on wasn't the best at what they did and didn't insulate the pipes or under the room so if it got cold enough ours froze as well. I can remember pouring hot water into the drainage pipe trying to get the clog to thaw! I don't miss that house! Now the house we moved into next, which was right across the street but MUCH bigger, I loved and still miss, I think mostly because we poured so much time and love into rehabbing and restoring it. They were both 1920's houses with hard wood floors and 10ft ceilings and the 2nd one had lots of character.
It is amazing how fast laundry accumulates, especially when your machine is on the fritz! Here's hoping Stacy's gets fixed FAST!
Morning ladies! Never did get out last night. Probably won't go anywhere today. I don't really NEED anything but of course my WANTS are many!
I "gained" a pound yesterday. Not too bad. Just need to get back on the saddle with the "eating plan". Not supposed to call it a diet but a "live-it" - changing your eating habits long term so you can lose weight and keep it off.

Oh my yes!!! I just want plain appliances with knobs instead of buttons!! Especially the oven and washing machine!!

Ha, you'll be lucky!
My dad nursed my mother's old one though so many breakdowns that I think she was eternally grateful he didn't think it was worth taking when they made their last move. They'd had it for years by then - my younger sister was still in nappies (diapers) when they got it and she'd finished her doctorate before they moved. But it got more and more unreliable as the years wore on, so at the end you needed to switch manually from some parts of the cycle to the next one .
10 ft ceilings, Gail - was that not hard to heat??
Good morning, my DD and I went to a 10 pm movie then hit the midnight sale at Kohl's, not sure I'll be making that a new tradition. The hour and a half wait in line to check out was a killer!
this makes me glad all those cool stores are 80 miles away the temptation to go is so slim...
the stores around here some opened yesterday too... but, I think that kinda kills the tradition of getting up for that special bargain and having to decide which store to hit first when they all opened at 5 am friday... I miss that sometimes but, I'm ok with online shopping. the first time someone runs your heels over with an shopping cart really sucks some of the fun out of it.

Well, VA doesn't get too cold of winters, and at first we had hot water radiated heat. When we finally got central air into the house we lost the radiators. That first house had really uneven heat. We had built a room in the attic for our homeschooling and it was hot up there year round. The AC couldn't keep up in the heat and the heat rose to the attic so that even when we had the vents shut in there it was super hot...the kids did school in Tshirts and shorts even in the winter! When we rehabbed the second house which was much larger and had had a 2story addition built on, we put in two separate heat/AC units with programmable thermostats. It ended up costing about the same to heat/cool as it had in the 1000sq foot smaller house just because of the efficiency of the units and the way we were able to program the different levels of the house where, during the day when we were in the downstairs, we didn't bother to heat and cool the upstairs.

Speaking of discipline....must shut off the computer and do some work around the house! I didn't go Black Friday shopping, but my oldest DD took the younger two out and they didn't get back til 2:30am so I'm a bit sleepy today. You know you're tired when you wake up thinking about when you can fit a nap into the day!
