Just got home from the gym. I think I worked out enough to eat some of that stuffing! Stuffing is my Thanksgiving downfall! I do home made - no boxed for this gal on Thanksgiving! Could smell the turkey when I walked in the door. Yum!
another try ... they show up straight on my computer now.. keep your fingers crossed! This is my scrapbox that I won from hycct last year - and has been a blessing to me every day since!
Wow. Amazing. And oh-so-organized. Did Lydia ever get hers done???
It's all put together but I haven't had one second to put anything in it. I'm hoping this weekend or next. Everything is just a whirlwind right now. I love it so much though!
I've been pre-shopping at Stampin Bella. I have a list of about 16 stamps, so when I get their notice, I'll have to really narrow that list down. I actually did some of that pre-shopping by looking at cards made on SCS that are in the "Company Gallery" for Stampin Bella. That way I could get a better idea of what could be done with the stamps.
pie is in the oven! Had to make the top crust twice; first version got overworked and wouldn't come together. Second version was better but far from perfect. I'm calling it rustic!
Taking a break for a few minutes before heading back to the kitchen to chop veggies for appetizers.
Michelle, you are too good. My version of pumpkin pie... I absolutely hate making pie crust so I've taken to using puff pastry. Not perfect, but perfectly simple! Lucky for me the Germans don't know the "real thing"
I have my Christmas music on shuffle... Il Divo, Josh Groban, Amy Grant, Mariah Carey, Michael Buble, and one by the London Symphony/Chorus that oddly came from Victoria's Secret...
Anyone have a favorite Christmas album? I need to add Harry Connick's first one to my itunes - the 2nd one wasn't as good.
"The Sinatra Christmas Album" - got acquainted with it as a kid and still love it today. Best Jingle Bells version ever.

Our line dancing teacher gave us an early Christmas present and a homework assignment: A CD with a selection of Christmas songs, with the intent that we'd figure out which dance to use for each track. The Elton John song (forgot the title) just about lands me on my can-- VERY up-tempo. How can I move my feet that fast, much less turn?!!

It's the holiday season. Don't forget to set your scales back ten pounds.
Haha! That works for me! I just took my dutch oven bread out of the oven. It looks good and smells good. Have to wait a few minutes before cutting it to see if it really turned out to be bread and not a glob of hot dough.
Last night I picked up a whole garlic/herb chicken pre-cooked, fresh green beans, making yams & I bought a pumpkin cream chiffon pie with lots of whip cream for us girls. I wanted something nice for us 3 since DH will be gone.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone. Bird is in the oven and everything else is done...just need to heat it up and make gravy. I'll even get some stamping time in!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Sounds like lots of good food going on out there. DH smoked 3 racks of ribs for our dinner.... He opted out of the traditional fried turkey this year!

We ARE having the traditional fried turkey this year. In fact, we're eating at my son's house. I provided the turkey; he's doing the frying. My daughter (who just moved back home due to no job and no money) decided that we needed to get a small turkey to bring back home with us. There's never enough left-overs for everybody. So we've got an 18-pounder and a 13-pounder. That should make lots of leftovers!

That is great because once you're frying you might as well fry a few. Otherwise the oil gets to be quite costly. We went the oven route this year because it's just DH and me.

[QUOTE=mamaxsix;19841323]
it would be hard to give up Food Network and Home & Garden though.
I got so much done yesterday that I'm feeling pretty good about today! Now I'm down to more finishing of dishes and getting the table ready.
That is the reason we still have cable TV, well that and the sports that my DH would die without.
Dina, hope the marshmallows turn out.
Dinner is about 1 hour from table so I guess I had better go and start finishing up the last of the sides etc. Happy Thanksgiving to all, whatever way you are counting your blessings!

Have been checking this tread every day and finally last night I discovered I won a prize with the Crafter's Companion. I have been to this site a few times but never bought anything from them so I am anxious to see what prize they send me. It is suppose to be two stamp sets, 24 markers and cardstock. You know it was so much fun making the cards for the HYCCT challenge and also felt so good to do something for the cause. It was a reward in itself. However, it really makes it special to receive a prize from one of the many gracious prize donors. This is my second year in participating in this wonderful event and I must say that I have felt real close to all the members who also participated. SCS is the best. Thanks to all the girls who shared their beautiful cards and also for their kind comments, but most of all thank you to all the members who organized this great event especially to you Understandblue for all your guidance and patience. It's been such fun. Happy Thanksgiving to all of you. Enjoy your day!

SO resemble that sentiment!
Happy Thanksgiving, all!
ROFL!! That's a good one! Since being sick I have gained 4 lbs
I don't know if it was the antibiotic or what. I started dieting back in July and so far I was down 24 lbs but now it's only 20.
HEEHEE....that's kinda how we got started too....but hey, if you're with friends, it's all good....My unmarried auntie always told me that family can be anyone you want it to be so make it your own...first yr was just me and a friend but others have come and gone over time...we have a great time. and I'm making you an honorary oddball so you come up any yr...you're always welcome...
Thank you! I had a great time (and ate a lot) with my friends' family. I've met most of them before, but got to know them better and was very comfortable with them today. My bread was a hit, different than the variety of dinner rolls they also had. My friend's husband said, "I didn't know you could cook." Ha! Well, I do pretty much keep that a secret.
OMG! Ate several hours ago and I'm still full! Just had a half piece of pie but that was enough. Michael's opens in about 40 minutes.... Thinking about heading out! It is snowing here so I hope the shoppers drive carefully!
Linda (Holstein) just let me know that I won a prize in the HYCCT challenge. OMG I am so excited. Seriously, I NEVER win anything. I can't even win at traveling bingo at bridal showers This was such a fun challenge. I so enjoyed making all the different cards and using tons of pink to boot! All of the cards were so gorgeous I would not want to be one of the judges. It was such a nice feeling to make all of these cards and donate them to the cause. I hope all of the recipients of the cards that were donated can feel all of the love that went into making them. Thanks to all of the challenge hostesses for all of the hard work you did to make the challenge itself go so smoothly. I can hardly wait until next year and another fun time. WOW!!!!! Copics!!!!! Unbelievable!!!!!!! Happy Holidays to me

We had a wonderful meal and great pie provided by my older kids: DD made a from scratch pumpkin with streusel topping, DS made a bourbon apple with lattice top, DS#2 made key lime with a cranberry swirl, DD#2 made pecan and DD's friend made a Maple Cream. My younger two pitched in and helped with the mashed and sweet potato casseroles and DH helped get the table ready and helped with the first round of dishes. I'm up from a long nap and now I'm staring at the rest of the cleanup that needs to get done. It was a wonderful day and we're all just relaxing now.
Glad to see everyone is enjoying themselves on this special day. I'm full to the tee, probably shouldn't of eaten a piece of pie, but oh well I did.
I didn't know Michaels was open today, may just have to swing across the street before we hit Kmart. They have buy 1 pair of boots, get the other free so the girls need boots since it's going to snow on Monday.
Congratulations to all the winners, we are all special for making & donating our cards to a great cause.
I thank God that you were not in it either. I've been thinking about several friends who live in that general area since I heard about it on the evening news. How tragic, as it affected so many more people than just those who were involved in the pile-up. Those big trucks on the freeways always scare me. I try to stay away from them, but what can you do if they are behind you...
Hey one of you said Michaels was open today, I just got back. Goodness, tons of people already at this hour.
Yes, that is a tragedy what happened in Texas & what the outcome was. I heart goes out to everyone involved.
I'm going to start pre-cutting my Christmas cards, I would like to make 50 with 2 different designs plus my 15 fish Christmas cards so that will be 65 cards.
Gluten seems to be causing me to sneeze even when I don't ingest it......... and it's baking day today.
Apple pie is done, 2 pumpkin pies are half-baked.......... and we discover a gas leak.
So... that could have been worse! But things sure haven't gone according to plan so far. DH is on the way to find a new regulator thingie, hoping to beat the rain. Hope that fixes the problem... I still have a lot of cooking to do!
Oh, and I am waiting for Dick Blick to post their Black Friday sales.... I don't sneeze *as* violently when I sit at my computer in the AC.... but that can be dangerous too!!
