SBDC37 MARCH 23, 2007

Good Afternoon! In honor of our upcoming DIVA ANNIVERSARY I set up this thread: Call for Scrampers/Scrappers

These wonderfully accomodating ladies had no idea what I had in store for them but they completed the task with some fabulous results. I gave them a challenge/assignment as a group and then they each had a different set of limited supplies. I will be sharing what the ladies created and a bit more information. So this week let me introduce your Volunteer DIVAS of the Week!
The Super Stylin Sistas....

sapphire1968 (SBDC37A)

BSDemonstrators (SBDC37B)

and

stampin_sher (SBDC37C)

Please give them a round of applause for putting up with me and my craziness...they didn't even know what I planned to do with their pages.

When you complete this challenge please use SBDC37 (A,B,or C) to indicate which list you used...see above (and below)for the coordinating letter. I will post the lists and each DIVAS information in separate posts. THANK YOU!

All three gals began their challenge with the following:
Your challenge will be fun and exciting. Mild as far as the challenge part of it goes, a bit out of the ordinary and interesting to say the least. Each one has a different spin to it...

You will be provided with a sketch. You must use the sketch but you are free to adjust it to fit your needs. Try to keep the basics visible even if there is a need to switch it up a bit.

Your assignment is to "stick to the basics"...We are reviving old products for a few fun, new tricks.

DONNA'S LIST (SBDC37A)
Your limited supplies will be:
Use simple supplies to create a fun and fabulous page. Get creative with your list of "basic embellishments".

Brads, Buttons, Eyelets, and Ribbon

No Stamps please, Ink is ok but in moderation

You may use some patterned papers but make the main focus your photos, fun revived emebellishments, and the faster the better.

Of course the normal neccessities are fine to use as well:
Paper Cutter, Solid colors of CS, Adhesive of your choice, Scissors, Journaling Pen

A little bit of info from Donna about her page:
I used square brads to do the T in the title and ribbon to frame the main photo. The bottom left corner has buttons and I tore paper to create the tag to make it look like Military fatigues. ~Donna
Donna will share some more details with us later...

and here is Donna's page:

Default BSDemonstrators SBDC37B

Sandi's List (SBDC37B):
Your limited supplies will be:
Use simple supplies to create a fun and fabulous page. Get creative with your list of "embellishments".

Stencils, Decorative Scissors, Distressing Techniques (tearing, roughing up edges, warm distress colors), Tags

No Stamps please, Ink is ok but in moderation
You may use some patterned papers but make the main focus your photos, fun revived embellishments, and the faster the better.

A bit of info from Sandi about her page and some info about herself as well:

I've been a Stampin' Up! demonstrator since the end of April last year. I signed up at the very first workshop I ever attended and I've never looked back! It's a great way to support my addiction. (In my spare time, I teach junior and senior high school.) I have always focused on creating cards so scrapbooking is a challenge for me. This particular page was a definate challenge as I was not allowed to use any stamps! Eek! I hand drew the letters as I didn't have any alphabet diecuts. I thought they looked a little plain so I added some doodling. The little flower over the letter I was created by rolling up the scraps left over after using my funky scissors.

Tips and tricks? The most basic one I can recommend is that you never glue anything down until you are absolutely sure you don't want to change anything! The second one I would recommend is that you run a bone folder or clean ruler over any spot that has adhesive behind in. This will make it stick a lot longer. Oh, and third, if you're going to mat all your photos like I did, you should make your main focus stand out by changing the matting style or add more matting layers. Your page should only have one main focus even when there are other images on it. -Sandi

Miss You

Default stampin_sher (SBDC37C)

stampin_sher's list (SBDC37C):
Your limited supplies will be:

Patterned Paper (it needs to be used in multiple layers with a mix of pleasing patterns), you may use one color family if you choose to do so but you must also add one bright vivid color for a bit of "pazazz". Markers, Inks, and stamps are ok to use.

TBS later...;)

a bit of info about Sherry and her pages:

I think the trick to this layout is to cut both pieces
of paper at the same time turning one upside down.
Being the thrifty person I am I did it the hard way
piece by piece then glued it all down to a 12x12 piece
of paper.

A little about me, I live in Central Illinois among
the flat cornfields of the state. I have 2 sons ages
24 and 28 neither is married nor do I have any
grandchildren.

I work at the University of Illlinois and hope to
retire within 10 years and scrap my life away after
that.

It has been a challenge to go back through the years
and create nice scrapbook pages. After beginning to
scrapbook taking pictures takes on a whole new light.
-Sherry
