Heart Whatcha using Wednesday!

Happy Wednesday!! So whatcha working on or with?

I have been working on coloring black hair. I know everyone has their way to color and because we are all artists we all have different opinions on what works or doesn't work. I like to see light in my hair all around, not just in one place and the color black, well I think it hates me! I always feel my hair looks gray with black highlights or too solid color black. Finally I got exasperated with my attempts and gave it a rest, but I'm feeling the need to try again.

Whatcha using?

i actually took a class from suzanne dean on how to color black hair and i did not realize it takes 6 copic markers to color hair black and it using all c colors. She did says it one of the harder techniques to master and i have by no means mastered it but i am happier with how my black hair turns out now since i took her class.

today i am tackling the mft sketch, the splitcoast sketch since the are giving away a prize, and whatever else i can find to work on while my kiddo at school.

i think black hair is pretty hard too. sometimes it looks like gray hair. i use C1, C3, C5, C8 & 100 and sometimes it looks okay and sometimes it doesn't. i need to practice.

Well I'm still working on black hair again today and it's just not happening. I guess today I should be feeling blonde! There are some good U Tube tutortials for coloring but the bottom line is it's practice and for me I can do never do that enough! LOL!

hey gals,
Coloring hair with black color I used C1, C3, C5, C7, C9 and 100. I'm happy so far with how my black hair looks but I'm having a problem with blonde hair...I just don't know what color to start... any input on what color you guys use to make an awesome blonde hair... I like the grayish brown that I've seen on some of the TGF former Premier DT's would love to get some of those colors soon...I think I believe the colors were from the Earth tones...

For blonde hair I use YR 31, Y28, E13, Y21, Y18, Y26, Y28 - normally not all of them but I use blend them to get the color I want (and sometimes don't want)

Yeah, black hair is soo hard! For some reason, I end up blending it all together too much, so it's like a Darth Vadar helmet instead of hair .

I keep practicing though, using mostly a combo of C1, C4, C7 and C9, with some blues or purples thrown in.

I'm def not an expert, but I like black hair! I generally only use C9, C7, and C5. I leave a lot of uncolored space in the highlights (when I remember) then I throw in streaks with the darker two markers.

*See, I forgot on the bottom left...
