I have it all set to drive down Friday morning. It will give time to visit with Sue (my friend I am staying with).
Can you please post a list of stamping related shops in Madison? That way if any of us gets time we can check them out on our own.
Thanks

Jean--are the two stores in Janesville the Crackerbox and Stampin Memories? I have not been to the Crackerbox yet, but have heard good things.

Every now and then they do a Sat open house, but I have a feeling their online business keeps them really hopping. I know the packages have now taken over what was once a lovely stamp work room. If you are able to come down Friday, Gina's is open during the day, but I'm not even sure when she closes in the afternoon.

We sure could give you an itinerary of other great spots to visit! LOL! (And seriously, if you wanted to do a bit more traveling, my two fav places are actually in Janesville. >sigh< ) But maybe that should be another trip!

Anyway, yeah, it'd be awesome if we could go see Gina's, but the chattin it up at Archivers will be great, too!

Scrapbook and Stamping Memories is on the East Side. I don't like their layout but they actually have a LOT of stamps and cardmaking supplies. http://www.scrapbook.net/

On the west side, there's Scrapbook Superstore on Odana Road (which is next to Tuesday Morning). Wisconsin Craft Market is on Whitney Way/Odana Road (not my fave place, but they have some unique things). JoAnn's is on Odana as well.

Michael's is out by Archiver's.

If you need copics, get to Univeristy Bookstore (downtown or at Hilldale) where they are 4.95.

Hobby Lobby's in Monona, just off the Beltline.

Emily,
Thanks for the tip on copics. I have been wanting to try them, but didn't want to spend a lot on trying something new.

If you can make it out for the gathering, Archiver's has them (for more $$, but you can try them out.)

Hi LuLu! What an absolute dolly in your avitar! How old is that wee one?!

I'm in the Madison area, but took some classes at UW-Platteville a while back ... what a pretty part of the state! (And a very scenic drive between Platteville and Madison ... loved it!)

It's off the beltline at Shopko Rd.

Yes! Those are them! I love Crackerbox Palace! (It really is a crackerbox and it really is a palace, and for those folk who need that 'just right' stamp, they make them on site. I love that place!) I need to bring a drool bib with me when I go to Stampin Memories ... they have the most amazing selection of stamps I've ever seen. And that's only about 1/4 of the store. (The one in Appleton comes in at a close second, but Janesville's is still #1 in my book.)

In retrospect, it was being built when I was here in school, and I always assumed it was like a big store for guy hobbies, like trains and airplanes and models.

Oh, how naive I was.

There's a new thread for Wisconsin-Milwaukee Shoe Box at Crowne Plaza for a get-together the weekend of January 29-31, 2010. It's a Shoe Box swap and three classes (or just a weekend away with the ladies)!

Then I bet I never realized what it was. GGGRRRR. I used to go right by there all the time. I wish they would build one up here. Oh well at least I get to go there when I am down for the Gathering!

Hi there Jeaniebean! Thanks for compliment on my avitar pic. It is my lovely grandbaby, Emma. I think she is a dolly too. In the pic she is just three days old. She is now 16 mths old, her first year just flew by. We live about 25 mins from P'ville and yes it is a pretty drive, even better if you take back roads. Tho it takes much longer. So do you live in Madcity now? It is nice knowing we have alot of Wisconsinites on this site. Nice to meet you. Have a wonderful day!!!

Hopefully when Emma's around you don't have to share her too much and get to do those 'gramma' things all you want!

I'm a McFarland girl (just outside of Madison) and I agree, it is so cool finding all these WI stampers/scrappers here!

Yeppers! Every school in the area (except Madison proper) has already announced they're closed tomorrow. No alarm clock tomorrow ... woohoo!

I for sure have some work to do, but am hoping to get in some play time, too.

I hope your office closes too. I think tomorrow is going to be plain treacherous. I see Gov. Doyle has activated the national guard to help out as needed across the state. Even Madison schools have been closed for tomorrow! That never happens!

LAst night they closed the Wausau schools already and that only happened once before!
It is so windy outside now. To bad I still have to go to work. Its only a 5 minute drive so the I cannot drive there does not work to well.
So far we got 9" of snow here.

There were a lot of accidents yesterday. Always happens on the first snowfall. Some people forget how to drive.
I saw a truck in front of my last night turn a corner to fast, causing him to slide up over a curb and take a wooden post and mailbox.

Oh and if you are a lucky gal and gets to stay home - play for all of us. LOL

Stay safe everyone!!!!!

Stay safe, M!

There are reports we have trees and wires down, there are some places just to my east (and as I'm typing this, north east and places in Rock Cnty, for a total now of 10,000) that have been out of power (water, heat, electric) since 2:00 a.m.

Pretty much everything is shut down at the moment, including the Madison Metro busses! Dean Health Clinics are closed. All southern WI schools are closed.

So far, we've had between 16 and 12 inches in the Madison area, depending on which station you listen to. We're expected to get another 1 - 3 inches this morning.

There are some huge trees here on my street loaded with snow, bent to the ground and swaying in the wind. Large branches down but not trees (although there is one that looks like it's a matter of time and a few more gusts of wind.)

And this isn't even the bad stuff! This afternoon the winds are supposed to pick up to wicked fast speeds.

What will be weird is that around midnight it all settles down, and around this time tomorrow it will all be business as usual, just with some really big snow piles.

Just coming in from 2.5 hours of shoveling and snowblowing and I'd be out there still except the blower decided to call it a day. Sigh...

My across the street neighbor is also my mechanic, so hopefully he'll be able to talk some sense into my wayward Mr. Red-Who-Thinks-He-Can-Take-Up-Garage-Space, I don't think so!

Barb, the pics are beautiful! Emily, I'm so glad you're home safe and sound.

My husband goes to MATC and they announced last night that they'd be closed today (no alarm clock, yippee!). This is craziness - I guess we are getting caught up on all the snow we didn't get before now.

Well we got about 11 inches from this storm. Now the cold wind chills are setting in. YUCK!

I always thought that Wausau did a really great plow job, though. I might have had trouble getting out of my apartment lot, but once I got to the main roads, driving was always pretty good. (Although I was always afraid of 17th from Bridge, so I always went the long way around!)

Roads down here right now are BLAH. Took me 90 minutes to get home last night, and I only live 7 miles from work!! (they decided they'd plow all tuesday/wednesday, but not salt, and now it's too cold for salt to work! There is a two inch snow pack on the roads!)

Yes Wausau does do a good plow job. I always avoid 17th from Bridge when it snow also! That hill is very slippery!

My roomies & I had *a lot* of garbage we had to take to the dumpster at the same time the players would all come home from practice...

Hi Becky - I saw your post earlier!

Kelly
I was born and raised in Cadott too. I didn't make it that far away. I'm currently in Chippewa.
