Any Appleton area card makers interested in getting together? Just some thoughts........We could meet at Archiver's in their work area (no! I don't work for Archivers!) or we could all sign up for the same card class at Archivers or somewhere else and then get acquainted afterwords. Could meet for coffee and do an image swap or something to get to know each other. Or whatever anyone else might suggest. I'm not sure I'm ready to have to make cards for 40 or 50 people like these big swap meets! I would prefer a smaller group. PM me!

I think you are right Martha. There was a swap at Wausau last year in the fall. I didn't go to that one. I think something else was going on and I went to 3 in WI last year. That would be about a 2 hour drive from here. I am in the Adams-Friendship area. But there are usually 3 of us that go and we split the gas. Being in the center of the state works pretty well most of the time! Elaine

I am in Glenwood City, WI...halfway between Eau Claire and St Paul, MN.

Anyone close by?? I need someone as addicted as I am to stamp with when the kids go back to school!

Maybe New Richmond, Amery, Clear Lake, Menomonie?

I saw one Menomonie-ite but the post was from 3 years ago...

Another WI girl here. Born and raised in Wausau; left to go to college in Iowa (Luther College in case there are any other Norse out there!) and grad school in IL. Been in Madison for about 21 years now. Anyone else out there who has older kids (mine are 10 and almost 17) and works outside the home (to pay for their stamping spending sprees! ) but still tries to squeeze in stamping whenever possible?? I wish I could stamp for a living . . . haven't quite figured out how to do that yet! DH says I'd spend more than I made if I tried to earn a living stamping! That's probably true . . .

Elaine--I graduated from AF in 1971. I am a teacher in Waterford in Racine County. I lived close to Brooks, about 20 miles south and east of Adams.

I still love that area--Barb

Hi, Elaine - thanks for your note. It is fun to "meet" new stampers. I peeked at your blog and loved the pics of your silly cat at the back door! She'd get along well with my silly cat!
Hope you have a great weekend -- mine will include drooling over my new SU catalog that my demo gave me today! Can't wait to get home! Kay

Barb,
I have lived in the A-F area all of my life. My maiden name is Steffen and I graduated in 1979. What was your maiden name?
I love it here. We are so central to everything. I fondly call home "Mayberry" but I love to get out of here often to go to the Big City. But it is always good to get back home.

Kay-
I got one catalog yesterday and spent almost 2 hours slowly looking through it the first time, then taught a scrap booking class last night, and looked at again some last night for awhile and started making my wish list. It is a great catalog!!! My cases for my gals came late this afternoon so they will be happy! Have a great weekend! Elaine

Barb,
I just noticed that you live in Waukesha. Were you at the PJ party at the State Fair Park in February? I was there that weekend and had a blast. My daughter was living in Greendale then so I stayed at her apartment. A friend and I drove back and forth to it each day. Elaine

I saw this thread and just wanted to drop in and say hi! I've was born and raised in Wisconsin Rapids, lived in Madison for 11 years and came back up to settle in central WI in a little town called Junction City. I'm located between Marshfield, Stevens Point, Wisconsin Rapids and Wausau. I have to look at my calender but, I would be interested in the shoebox swap at Cedar Creek.

Hi Barb,
I do not know who you are. Your name doesn't sound familiar to me. The PJ party is put on by the Scrapbook Superstore in Greenfield. It was there second year to have this I believe. The fee was 80.00 for the weekend and some people paid extra to stay there in the dorms. They had it in the youth center. A very nice building. This included a snack on Friday night, 3 meals on Sat. and Sunday brunch plus other snacks in between things. Plus they gave you a really nice scrapbook sleeve full of goodies when you checked in, and would bring us something like a marker, or sheet of stickers every few hours. TONS of awesome door prizes. I won my fee back in prizes alone. Plus there were games, and make and takes, etc. It was totally worth it!!! I think I will go again next year. In between things going on you work on your own pages and there was a contest at the weekend for the best pages. I know I am forgetting alot of things but it was a blast! Plus they ran a sale for us at the store and we could get 20% off anything in the store that weekend. They spoiled us rotten for sure but people were dropping money like water so think it was worth it for them.

If you are in our area on the weekend, we have a nice flea market right on Hwy 13 by the railroad tracks. I sell down there every weekend and I am in stall 47 up on the hill and have a Tastefully Simple banner on the front of my stall. I have stamping supplies, a complete line of Tastefully Simple, baby quilts, wall quilts, purses, greeting cards, etc. My parents own it and if you ask for Irene or where the owner's daughter is set up someone will direct you to where I am at. I meet lots of stampers and quilters in my stall and it is a blast! Come see me! Elaine

Hi Elaine--I was in band for all 4 years and also in AFGA--a jock before girls could actually be in sports!!!! I went to Point to college and majored in Physical Education. I will have taught and coached for 30 years in Waterford when I retire next June.

Please keep me posted on the PJ party--it sounds fun. I do not do as much scrapping as I should, but that might get me motivated.

If I am in the AF area on a weekend, I will for sure look you up! I have been to that flea market with my mom when she was alive--it really is a nice one. Did you go to the shoebox in Madison in the spring? I was there last year, but could not make it because of the weather this year. My friend Laurie took all of my swaps and did them for me along with help from Tracy. The one in South Milwaukee that Carrie Ann hosts is great--I went last year and will go again. Wonderful door prizes, great stampers, many samples and a raffle for some awesome donations that people put together for a great charity. Keep that one in mind!

Thanks for chatting--Barb

Hi Barb,
I was in band all the way through school too but we wouldn't have been in high school at the same time.

I did go to that shoe box swap in Sun Prairie/Madison the past two years and I know I met who ever was working on your swaps but can't remember the face right now! I may even have a picture of her as I shot a lot of pictures for Tracy of everyone as she forgot her camera!

I would like to go to a shoe box swap this fall but I am at the flea market every weekend until the end of October. Then I will be free for 6 months on the weekends until the flea market starts again in May.

We had wonderful weather today and sales were good! Nice talking with you. Elaine

Hey there, I live in Sun Prairie (just east of Madison). We just moved here last year, after living on the east side of Madison for 8 years.

I have to say I almost fell out of my chair when I saw the post (a couple of pages ago) mentioning Shiocton. My husband is from Leeman, which is pretty much off the beaten track. We go up and visit the in-laws in the Fox valley periodically.

Hi Elaine--I misread one of your posts and thought you graduated in 1969--just ahead of me..................... I think I did talk to you in 2007 in Madison and hope to meet you there next spring.

Have a great rest of the weekend--Barb

Hi, Laura - what high school did you attend in Wausau? When did you graduate? I went to West and graduated in 1980. Smart woman to relocate to sunny, warm (read NO SNOW) CA! Glad to know you still have your cheesehead!

I also went to West (Go Warriors!) and graduated in 1987. I grew up about 1/2 mile west of the hospital, about 1/2 mile north of what is now the old Stettin School.

I was back in Wausau for my 20 year class reunion last year (how IS that possible?!?!?) with my then 3.5 week old daughter. I was just back a few weeks ago with my almost 4 year old son, now 1 year daughter and hubby to WI Dells for a family reunion.

Hi! I just joined this website and I live in Wisconsin too. I live in Port Washington but I haven't seen anyone else who does. : (

To jcblayer: when did you live in BD? My family moved there a while ago, but I left for college.

Default Plover

Hi I'm from Plover. I was origanlly from Viroqua and then moved to Stevens point for 3 years. After that lived in Waupaca for the remainder of 3rd grade through end of high school in 2000. I've lived in Neenah for a few years and then moved back to Waupaca and then a small Town called Bancroft and now i'm living right next door to Stevens Point in Plover again.

Its strange growing up in Waupaca and always wanting to live back in Stevens Point and now that i am i would rather be living in Waupaca.

funny how life works sometimes.
