I totally agree! I'd love to hang out with the CURDS in Appleton sometime.

Oooh! I think I'm going to try one of the VSN challenges! Not going to stress about the deadlines, can't upload anyway, lol! But it'll be fun to see what Robyn has in mind, and so far I'm liking the chocolate love over there ...

Martha,
I'd be interested, I could possibly get my SU demo to come along, not to demo though, just to have fun. I like the sounds of late Sept or beginning of Oct, before the cold air sets in.

I just signed up for the Mad City shoebox so that makes March 28 Mad-City, April 18-Friendship and August 15-Hartford. I'd love to do one in Appleton in fall.

Default Just subscribed to the CURD forum

Hello everyone! I just heard (or is that HERD? ) about the CURD thread through Gina K's blog or Stamp TV -- can't recall which one. I didn't know this fun group existed here on SCS! I am from Madison and am looking forward to hearing more about gatherings of this group. I'm a weird Wisconsinite who doesn't (can't) eat cheese so I won't be joining in on any cheese curds but I'd love to join in on some stamping fun. Any gatherings planned for the near future??

Smile Appleton in October?

I see some interest in a road trip to Appleton. Perhaps October would be a good time to shoot for. I hesitate to schedule something in the summer because people go away etc. Any dates I should try to avoid? Any techniques you would like to learn in a class?

October would be a fun time to road trip to Appleton! For those with kids in school the last weekend of October would be bad. The state teachers convention is the last weekend so the kiddos don't have school on Thursday and Friday of that last weekend (I believe the dates are Oct. 29-Nov.1).

Appleton this fall would rock. I am retiring this year as a teacher and this would be great. I am also the Athletic Director at our high school and our annual convention has been in Appleton the first weekend in November the past 7 or 8 years. This year we are moving the convention to Chula Vista in the Dells, so I need to make the trip to Appleton.................. Archivers, Hobby Lobby, Scrapbook and Stampin' Memories, I can not wait! Subbing to see the date that is chosen.

I am not able to make it to Sun Prairie this month, but hope to go to Harford in August. Friendship--though it is where I went to High School--is a little too far away.

Keep posting on the StampTV thread--see you all over there--Barb

Talking The Paper Cut Warehouse Sale - Appleton -FYI

FYI,

The Paper Cut is having a warehouse sale again on July 11, 2009. You can get single sheets of card stock and vellum as well as packs of precut multi-color small and large squares. There may be some make and takes. Plus all their premade card sets etc. Discounts increase depending on how much you buy. Here's their website. You can get on their mailing list if you like.

We could have the Appleton thing on July 11th but I suppose lots of people are vacationing and many have replied positively about October.

Hi Martha,
I definately want to come in October and probably could work out the July one but not sure. When I went to their site, the only show I couldn't get into was the July 12th one in Appleton. I did sign up for thier notices via e-mail. I can't wait to meet everyone - and you too. Madison to Appleton isn't that far.

Hi Sammie,

They don't keep their website up very well. The dates were all for last year. I have to do some further inquiries regarding location and subject of class and then I'll post a date.

Question Curd Challenge?

Any thoughts on doing Curd Challenges? I picked up a funny little item yesterday that I was thinking of putting in the bag of each CURD at the Friendship Swap. Then have each person decorate or alter their item and bring it to show the next time we all get together. Val, maybe we can send yours to you with Jean....or I can mail it. They are just small corny items....'cause I'm a corny kind of girl. Then maybe we can do different challenges for each get together. Just one small item to show and tell so everyone has one and we can see each persons take on the idea.
Curious to see what everyone thinks,
Mel

I think it's a great idea for those who are up for it! And Mel and Elaine, you're amazing organizers!

For me, I'm already challenged enough (Did I mention I'm going to my first ever swap and not too sure about how I'll do? ). I'll appreciate opportunities like the Culver's gathering we had, where we can sit and chat, get to know each other, do a show-and-tell of the things we've learned/made. I'm mostly after the social end of things ... meeting IRL the fine, fun ladies I visit with here on SCS.

I should check Gina K's and see when their next open house is ... was the Culver's gathering worth the drive for y'all? Would you want to do it again? What do you think?

I'd make a trip to Culver's again - I've only been to Archiver's once and that was the one in Green Bay. I'd like to go to the Madison store. My calendar is full for April and the first part of May, though.

OH it is definitely worth the trip and lots of fun. I am into the "no work" part of it too...lol! But I will be tied up on the weekends May through Oct unless it is raining or to cold to sell at the fleamarket on the weekends. Gotta sell stuff to keep funding my hobbies....lol!!!! And to help pay for these weddings! Jenna has set her wedding date for December 27, 2009!

I enjoyed meeting everyone again Sat. at Mad City and look forward to Friendship.

I would be up for any get-togethers we can arrange. Not sure about challenges as I've got quite a few of those going on, but do enjoy the sharing at the get-togethers.

Talking SO MUCH FUN!!!!

Culver's was soooo worth it!! Mad-City was a blast! These things are even more fun when you know more people that are there. And guessing who designed what card is so fun....one person said "this card is typical Tracy" I know that our group is well on its way to being able to do that. It was so great to see everyone again!!! The ideas were FABULOUS as always.....and DIANE what can I say besides WOW!!!! What a way to steal the show with that lottery item...WOW. Tiffany's card was my favorite once all was said and done, probably the first time I've ever liked Easter Grass. SO many GREAT ideas.

The Culver's gathering was worth it. I enjoyed seeing all of you, and seeing what everyone had to show. I liked that it was so "no pressure". If you had something you wanted to bring to show and tell, great. If not, that was ok too. I also liked that it was planned on a weekend that Gina's store was open, so that could be a stop while in the area too. I'd be ok with trying a Curds challenge, as long as you don't make it too hard. Sounds like you all had a lot of fun at the Mad City swap.

Default FYI -Copic Class in Eau Claire-

For all you Wisconsin Gals there's going to be a copic class in Eau Claire on August 16th taught by Sally Lynn. No info yet on whether it will have openings for the public. See Marianne's blog.
