...another Shoebox Swap for Whatcom and Skagit counties and Lower BC (or for anyone beyond those borders who just loves to play).
Date... Saturday, October 9th.
Time... 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Registration fee... $10 ($3 for the church and $7 for the fun stuff)
Place... Laurel Community Baptist Church Just north of Bellingham, WA
Here’s the Plan...
Each of us will create 20 kits (card kits or other project).
Each project will be set at a marked space on tables (2 projects per round table).
Attendees/swappers will move from project to project. (this worked out much better than when we used to pass the projects around)
Yes, we know that some people will finish faster than others, but there is plenty of space to work side by side whenever needed. Each of us will go home with 19 new projects.
Prizes...
Lots of goodies for everyone!. Door prizes! AND vote for your favorite project.
Registration list...
Strictly limited to 20 swappers. I will add a waiting list if necessary.
Please...This year I really, really want each attendee to be a Splitcoast member and to sign up as an individual. It's great if your "friend" wants to join the swap, but it makes keeping track very confusing. Splitcoast is FREE, so unless someone has no computer at all, please tell them to join.

If you prefer Paypal, please send me a PM and I will send instructions.
Preparing Your Project...
Design and create your card or page or item. Completly assemble 2 (one for the craft table and one for the "vote here" table).
Prepare enough pieces for 20 duplicates. Do a good bit of the cutting and stamping ahead of time (we all know how to cut and stamp already). We will basically be assembling the projects while sharing fun and laughter.
Using 20 small bags or envelopes make a kit for each of the gals attending.
Be sure to print 20 copies of your instructions... one for each kit. (one or two of us may need to leave early. without the instructions your kit will be useless.)
You do not need to provide tape and glue for your project.... each swapper should bring her own.
Janitor’s request: No loose glitter. No embossing powder. Those things get in the carpet and stay for months. Stickles are fine. Watercolors and chalk are great.
Garnet’s request: Halloween is WAY overdone in my opinion. Let’s concentrate on Thanksgiving, autumn colors, Christmas, birthdays, thank you..... even Valentines if you want to look ahead.
Name Tags...
Create your own name tag before the day. Make it a piece of artwork that you can be proud to wear. Plastic name tag holders (about 3x5”) are nice to keep sequins and flowers from falling off.
Things to Bring...
* Your project... 20 kits (19 for us gals to make + 1 in case there are any mistakes)
* any "stuff" we will need to create your project
* 1 completed item so we can see what we’re making
* 1 completed item to enter in the “Vote for Best Project.”
* Your own tape, glue, pop-dots, scissors, pen, pencils et cetera. In other words, a small “tool kit” to carry with you from project to project.
* If you have extra cards at home that you would like to donate to the church's card ministry, we would be delighted to have them.
Location: somewhere over the rainbow! (Actually the PNW)

I have no idea what to make either. Found some great downloadable Tapestry Swatches at www.twistedpapers.com. Want to try them out soon. Might be good for new ideas.
Hi I Just got a chance to see the e-mail please sign me up and Trixie too she really wants to come. What can I do to help besides set up tables. Alex
Okay!! How soon will Trixie's 'puter be fixed? Oh yeah.... we prolly have to wait on her good lookin' son to fix it. If you see this tonight, maybe you could ask her if it's okay that you and I set her up for Splitcoast membership. All I need is her email address and a clever name.... Trixie is probably taken.
Help? I'm sure I will think of something! Let's talk tomorrow after church.
Hi Garnet - please sign me up, and I will get a check in the mail today....can't wait, although it has been so long since I have done any cards it maybe very interesting for all of you brave ladies!
Thanks, Dee aka Dee Y
It is exciting to watch the list fill up! I have a new set "Just Believe" from SU that I am thinking about using. But then there's this cute little owl I could use...oh the wonderful choices. : ) Enjoy yet another perfect NW day.
Ace Hardware in Lynden gave us 20 of their shopping bags! We will each get one to put all our wunnerful stuff in.
Don't get overly excited now. I do NOT intend to fill them up with goodies! Just a few little bits and pieces and then you fill it up as the day goes along.
Garnet, I am bound and determined to make this work this year and I've got plenty of time to prepare. Please add me to the list, I think this sounds like so much fun!
Oh, and I agree about the hooray for Ace Hardware. I'm especially biased here, since my dear, wonderful BIL owns that store!
Hope to hear from you soon. I've got family from out of state visiting so I'll try to get the check mailed next week.

Hi Garnet!
Please add Julie Haugen scs Julie Haugen, Kristi Swingle scs Swingle and myself
Debbie Resch scs Purple7. Thanks! i I will send check out first of next week.
Hey Cindy (YLM), Thanks for the phone call. Been busy and haven't been on the computer for a few days. My son is home from Afghanistan, the youngest had his tonsils out, been a little crazy. Talk to ya soon. HUGS!
We're excited to come.. will be mailing a money order on Friday when we slip across the border for a couple of hours.. its almost 1/2 price to mail a letter from Bellingham than from my house in Chilliwack! That would be the main reason I dont participate in card swaps based from the States! Now if there was someone on OUR side of the border... I would consider being part of a card exchange!
Looking forward to being part of the shoebox swap!

Hi Elfrieda... Thanks for posting. If I were not planning to be away on Friday, you would have been able to just stop at my house and save 44¢.
If you have another occasion to drive down to Bellingham, let me know. We might be able to get together.
This is Trixie's Son... she got unexpectedly called out of the area for a few days (or weeks), but is looking forward to the swap and wanted me to let you know.

Sorry for being slow in editing the list. I have been down in Steilacoom for a short vacation. Thank you to thyme and Elfrieda for leaving payment at my house. Found all just where you said it would be.
Thanks for responding, Garnet! I was worried, but thought my envelope was safer where you found it, rather than in the 'usual' place... trust your holiday was good!
It's the dreaded "L" word.... LAUNDRY.... took a load out of the washer this morning... wondered where those little bits of paper of paper came from...
OH! NO!
One little bit said Douglas. Another BECU..... then Pay to the Order of... 30.00... Arlington
All is NOT lost!!! Figured out that it is Cindy's check in tatters, BUT the others are all in my check book. Phew! Thought I had washed the who;e stack.
Of course, I have no idea WHY I put one check in the pocket of my ratty old capris. WHAT was I thinking. Don't tell me. I know. I WASN'T.
