I am interested - it would just depend on the date and the location. I am actually in a southern suburb of Chicago (not quite NE IL), but I'm willing to travel. I'll check back.

If you do anything let me know I live in MI, but I am often in Loves Park, IL (just outside Rockford) visiting and helping out my 88 yr old mom. I get bored, so wouldn't mind getting out - can use mom's new jeep, so could travel a little ways.
I'm willing to get involved and help coordinate. An initial simple day long crop would be nice. I'm in Southern WI, if someone wants to partner with me to organize it, that would be great. End of July??

I'm all for Archiver's at Gurnee Mills! I live about 4 miles from there. :-) If that doesn't work, there's also "The Scrappin' Bee" here in Gurnee, as well...

A local place like Archiver's would be a great idea. Very little in the way of costs and if I remember correctly they have a nice work space that we could kibitz around.

the 27th would be better for me... may not be able to stay all day but I'd love to get together. If this works, we could even plan another day in the fall to swap or do shoeboxes or something!

My thought about a swap, and please others chime in......We could bring stamped images that cover a specific theme and swap those instead of completed cards or colored images.
Why don't we get together and chat in person and maybe we can come up with a "regular" date to meet. Then once we get all that figured out we can work on the images we get in the swap and maybe between the group learn a new trick.

Just thoughts....
Anyone else?

That's fine... but I probably would only attend if it were a shoebox swap - make cards, etc. Due to the distance I would be traveling (and the price of gas) I don't think I could justify/merit the trip to swap stamped images.
I work in Milwaukee, live in Hartford, have a sister that I spend a lot of time with in Lake Geneva. Near Archivers sounds GREAT to me but I have relatives in Plymouth and could easily be talked into going in that direction! I'd like to do a shoebox but will do whatever someone gets going. I'm only 1 year new to this hobby and haven't done many road trips yet!
I'm available except the weekends of August 9-10 and August 16-17. July is half gone and August is a busy vacation time. Maybe a good idea would be to pick a weekend after Labor Day when most people's schedules settle down and that would give everyone time to get something together, if we do a shoebox swap. I haven't been to Archivers so that sounds great to me.
Hello! I'm in Rockford! I just caught this thread and I am very interested! I'll be checking back!
You're not far from me... I'm in Sterling (an hour south of Rockford). I'm watching this thread closely, too. I went to my first/only shoebox swap last a few months ago... and it was a blast!!! This weekend I'm going to my first/only Scrapbooking/Stamping Retreat in Dixon. I hope it is a lot of fun, too.
Dawn - I don't have a lot of experience in this, either but I have done a couple of shoeboxes. You would do all of the cutting and make "kits" with everything to make a card. You make a sample and include a recipe (instructions on how to do it). Everything to make your cards should fit into a shoebox (sometimes a boot box may be more appropriate). Everyone that signs up to attend brings their own box, sets up a place at a table and then the fun begins! Everyone moves around the room making the cards that everyone else brought. Sometimes so many people will attend that it's too many cards to make in the time allotted and in that case the "stations" are numbered and you're told by the hostess which ones you make. There are some events that you bring 1/2 cards as kits to make and 1/2 as completed cards. For example, you may have 40 people that are participating. You are assigned by the hostess to MAKE the even # cards and to TAKE the odd # cards. That means that you would bring your shoe box with 20 kits and 20 finished cards. You would MAKE cards at the event from the 20 people with even #s and you would TAKE finished cards from the 20 people with odd #s.
I hope that makes sense, that's as easy as I think I can word it! They're tons of fun and a great way to meet new people.
Do we have enough people yet to get this rolling - all this talk about it has me anxious to get started!
I've only heard from 1 person regarding a date.....
So--ladies your thoughts? It is kinda late for July, unless we get together and just stamp/chat and maybe organize.
I don't know what dates are available at Archivers in August/Sept. I can let you know once I have one of their calendars. That is what is going to make it tough--to wait for them to publish their class schedule.
I am pretty open to whatever, but if we are doing a shoebox I need to know asap--I train/teach so my time to create anything is rapidly ending.
Do you want to get together on Sunday 7/27 at Archivers and see what we can come up with? We could bring holiday stamped images to swap and then work on those while we chat....especially because this is so last minute.
A shoebox would have to wait until I can get dates from Archivers. Ohhhh--maybe, maybe if we set up a month for a shoebox and then once I have the dates I can let you know. Ughhh--I wish I had someplace we could just go and not be dependent on someone else's schedule.
I guess let me know a yes I'm in or no I'll skip it.......

definitely still interested, just haven't had time to check the thread... I was just at Archiver's yesterday and got their August Schedule. Sunday, 8/24 they only have one class scheduled from 6-8:30pm, so we could probably do 9-3 easily! Something to think about... if you want to get together to chat on the 27th, please pm me!

I was the original poster to the Northern Illinois get together...I am totally interested in getting to meet everyone...I had a dickens of a time getting to organize everything...I even lost a deposit on a hall...but Archiver's would be GREAT!!! And FREE!!! I guess I am subbing to hear more details...let me know the date and I am there!!! Thanks for picking up this thread and making something happen with it. :-D
You can count me in for Sunday, August 24th - if someone organizes it, I'll be there. I'll check with my group that I stamp with and see if more gals from this area want to join in. I'd be happy to organize a future one, I don't feel experienced enough to do one on my own yet.
