Default Ontario CA scrapbook expo

Is anyone planning on going to this expo, it's in October. I thought it would be fun to meet up...maybe do a crop together if anyone here is going.

I'm going again. I've never done a crop there though. Is it worth it? I kinda feel that its distracting to have so many people and pretty things to buy and I'll accomplish nothing.

I've never done a crop there. I was just thinking it would be fun since it would give us SCS girls a chance to talk!! I thought about lunch or walking around...but that is really distracting! Maybe one of the classes would be fun, I have wanted to get into one of the Disney pages classes, but they fill up soooo fast! Let's keep in touch, and if nothing else we could maybe meet for a coffee ;-)

Hi. I'm going! This is my first time. Two of my friends are going to make a girl day out of it. Have you been before? This will be my first time. I am doing the all day crop & shop Friday, although I get too distracted to crop when so much is going on. I doubt I'll work on anything. I want to do some make & takes and shop. Do you know what are the best places to shop at?
Let me know if you have any pointers.

Default It's so much fun

I'm still debating about going this year because it is SO easy to spend a ton of money. My logic is if I don't go I won't spend....LOL

However (lol), I know how much fun it is and last time I checked a bunch of the classes were still open. I normally preregister for at minimum 3 classes - this year I was going to try my new theory. But now the prereg is closed. As the days get closer I get weaker..

You can find good/great prices and a day full of scrapbook candy is fun. I like the Ontario location much better than the Orange County. It's cleaner and everything is close. You don't have to go far for anything. Believe me you need all your energy if your making a full day of it.

Hi Monique~ I haven't done any scrapping there...I am lucky that I have a room here at home. I just couldn't pack it all up, I know I would forget something! Plus, I found in the past I need quiet to think!

I don't have any favorite vendors, I just walk and walk and walk and buy and buy and buy! I heard they have nestabilities this year, I would like the rectangles so I'm keeping my eyes open for them! Other than those, I take a list of pages I need to do and look for stuff.

I think you're right, Kerney.

Who am I kidding.... I'm going. Your nestabilities comment put me over the edge. Can I blame you? LOL

I don't think it will be nearly as crowded this year. I am basing that solely on the number of attendees for the classes. Who knows. Perhaps everyone is going by logic and the convention center will be swamped.

Ok. It's almost midnight.

Good night...LOL

I'll be there Saturday. I really don't need anything, but I always end up buying something! I've never done the classes and won't be this year either. I have a huge Halloween party the next day to get ready for so I'll be out of there by 3 or so.

I won't spend too much money, I won't spend too much money,I won't spend too much money,I won't spend too much money,I won't spend too much money,I won't spend too much money,I won't spend too much money,I won't spend too much money...............

well.....I won't post here how much I spent, let's just say I won't need any scrapbooking paper for a long, long time. I did get the nesties, If you bought 2 you get one free. I like the paper slabs that are usually $20 at Mike's or Joann's...2 places had them for $12, and one had a buy 3 for $33. I will say it was very slow, not a lot of people (at least compared to the last few years). They said the Rusty Pickle class had only 1 attendee at the morning class and 3 at the afternoon class. So if classes are your thing, there are plenty of spaces. Time to go relax, all that shopping wore me out!

Kerney summed it all up. There were deals to be had. I got so many albums at great prices, a bunch of stamps, tons of paper. My Minds Eye had an amazing deal.

However, I'm a little peeved because I was at the Spellbinder booth ready to buy a few of the nestabilities and I heard that they were doing the two for one deal. I asked the woman working the register, (all the workers were just sitting there b/c it was completely empty) and she said that it wasn't true that it wasn't a special they were having. I don't like when the companies play games like that.

Kerney, did you get that nestabilites there? Or was it somewhere else?

I went today as well. I think I faired well. I am estimating I spend about $50 if that. We, my friend and I, spent far more time than we had thought we would because we actually did the make and takes this time. I'm do glad I did because now I know how to use acrylic. I loved that more booths had $1 deals. I think half of what I bought was from the $1 bins.

I stopped by the Spellbinders booth as well and didn't see any offers. I'm wondering if someone started that rumor or something. The ladies there were very nice. If anyone went by the Deluxe Cuts laser cuts booth that sells everything for $1, did you notice how much less they had to sell this year? I was pretty disappointed in that since they do such an awesome job with their cuts. I only spent $3 there.

Anyways, today was much more educational for me that the other two I have been to. I got a BIA demo since I have one and haven't used it yet and the Cricut demo was really helpful.

Next one, in Costa Mesa, I'll really allow myself to splurge more, but I was showing a hell of a lot of restraint today.

Now the name of the game is to use the stuff I've bought (from the past expos) and not become a collector of supplies!

Robyn~ yes, it was the Spellbinders booth...and I have my receipt showing I paid $160 ($80 per nesite set, the ones with all 4 together) and got 3. I have the oval, square, and rectangle sets sitting right here. Another friend went and she got the same deal...and I remember their was a handprinted sign (looked like cardboard with a black sharpie) stating the special. They also had a spend $200 and get the machine free (friend got in on that). I was there at about 4pm on Friday. If I were you...I would contact the company and tell them! I know it was a special, and I can't understand why my friend (she was there in the am) and I both got it and they told you "no". That really su**s, both for you and for their sales!

Melissa~ I went to Costa Mesa a few years ago, it was the first expo I attended. It was all the same vendors, but way more crowded. Now, it may not be crowded this year, I don't think people are spending as much. But just wanted to give you a FYI!

Robyn~ I just re-read your post...it was "buy 2, get one free" as in a 3rd one is free, not 2 for 1. Maybe that was the confusion??? BUT, they still should have clarified it for you. And I would still contact them!

I went on Friday. Had a good time. Didn't make enough time to do all the make n takes I wanted, but next year I will. I bought 2 single packs of nesties. I would've bought the 4 pack, but I wanted more variety. If I took more money(which I didn't have more) I probably would've got that deal. Was it buy 2- 4 packs and get a pack free? I don't remember that special. I think if you bought a certain amount you got a small set free.
I thought the expo would have more specials. I did get a lot of $1 things, which was fun. I love my shadow box calander from Tall mouse. Got used there coupon.
I won a small prize at the night crop toward the end. We were so tiered and silly by that time, my whole table cheered that one of us got something. That was fun. I really wanted that Cricut though. I thought there was a good amount of people there. At the end it got pretty slim. Can't wait til next year. I'm going to save up so I can get more things.

Ah, you got the shadow box calendar! My friend and I loved that! Its really nice. I liked that Tall Mouse had a great free make and take as well. That was really nice of them. I bought their tiny and medium acrylic clear paint cans.

I was at Costa Mesa this year as well, but I wasn't into it at all since I has some really serious crap going on elsewhere that had me really distrated.
