I'm in Livermore and know a few other gals in the area....something to think about
Hi V!!!!
I just got an email notice from a post on the very old thread from the Rubber Rendezvous I hosted years ago. I have'nt done much stamping on my own for about two years, but still go to my old groups SU parties every month or so. Last weekend I went to the Scrap Expo at the Pleasanton Fairgrounds and bought a Pazzles - OhMyGoat that thing is wicked awesome!!! So, I think my paper crafting mojo may be re-invigorated.
If enough people are interested I can help with the organization as I learned a lot from the first time. However, someone needs to take the lead in rounding up participants. Everyone who is interested should put something in their signature line and then post in lots of threads to spread the word. Contact everyone you know in the area and have them all post their show of interest in a thread in this "Get Together" Forum.
I've been away from SCS for over a year, maybe two now, so I'm not up to date on what's going on, etc.
Talk to me ladies!
Kathy

K2!!!!!
Waddup? I saw you post over on that other thread. Wondered if you'd pop up anywhere else.
As far as a get together I'd have to go as a follower and not as a leader. I'm swamped all the time! You know my baby is THREE!?! You oughta come over some time.

I'm happy to help get the word out. Is there a post in the meet up thread I can direct them too? Or how do we start? Do we get the people together, then pick a date. Or pick a date and then see who we can get for that date? As you see I have no clue
Last time I did this I started a thread asking people when would be good for them. But first, since you are leading this, are you thinking of a small get together, more local and have a shoe box exchange (people bring a project with all the supplies cut out and ready to assemble for each attendee, including stamps, ink, cardstock, etc.) and perhaps have someone host in their home? Or are you thinking of going a bit bigger and try to round up as many people as you can? The bigger you want it, the longer it will take to put together and find the people. So, pick a month that would be good for what you want to do and allow for planning and for people to put together their projects.
You would start a thread in this forum for a show of interest. Then, you can narrow down a date that works for the most people. A location would have to be found to accomodate the size of your gathering. What would it cost per person? Try to keep as low as possible, say not more than $10. I might be able to use a conference room where I work (in Livermore) that might fit about 20-25 people and it wouldn't cost anything, but I'd have to check with my boss on a date.
In addition to the shoebox projects, our group had a card exchange and a trading card exchange, which were optional. These are fun to see what other styles people work in. I also had everyone make a nametag and then we voted on a favorite which got a prize. The nametags were very creative and it was a good way for people to get to know each other. Some goups also include a "garage sale" table for gently used stamps or no longer wanted supplies or tools that people would like to sell or trade. Gosh, I'm remembering how fun that day was, I'd do it again.
I am an administrative assistant by trade, so I would be happy to help you organize the event, but someone or a group of you need to drum up attendance. Think about this and send me a pm on what you would like to do.
Kathy

Hi Kathy - Thanks for the info. Unfortunatly, I cannot plan an event. I have 3 small children 6 and under with the youngest being only 6 months. But I am happy to promote in my signature if someone gives me a forum to point people at. And I will contact all the women I know in the area that may be interested.
FWIW, at the bare minimum, I'd love to do a shoebox swap. More is good, too
Laura, PM "Candice96" and ask her how we've set up our Shoebox swaps. We are in the Sacramento area. She left a post on here earlier. We meet every other month. Recently we've met at different Round Tables in the area using their party room. Our next one is April 2nd and we are meeting at the clubhouse in the mobile home park where I live. Candice also mentioned depending where it was held, some of us might be interested in attending your get together.
Swaps are so much fun. Hope you can get something going...
Thought I'd pop in to see if there's interest in a regular shoebox closer to my area (Santa Cruz.) There's 2 great Nor Cal groups already, both in/near the Sacramento Area. I *love* both of these groups, they have wonderful folks that regularly attend. That being said, a 4-6 hour round trip every other month gets to be a bit much.
I'm happy to host at my house- we have room for plenty of participants. If you're interested, please reply to this thread or PM me. Let's get this ball rolling!
Thanks for checking in. Let's keep this thread going ... anyone interested in a Santa Cruz, CA gathering? It's a beautiful place to visit this time of year!

Hi Karan! I'm certainly interested and I bet Kathy would be too (we were both at the stamping retreat with you about a year ago.) Please let me know what develops!
I am interested in a get togeather. I live near Sacramento but am from Livermore. I am in Livermore several times a month as my family still lives there.
Cynthia....we're having a Shoebox Swap in Folsom on June 25; we'd love to have you join us. Check the Nor Cal thread (I'll bump it up) for details, or you can PM me.
Karan, if you're up for a nice drive the weather is perfect here right now!

Thanks Karen. I do sometimes attend one of the Northern Nor Cal groups (I don't think I've been to yours?) And I appreciate the invitation. Sometimes that up to six hour round trip for a swap can take a toll on a girl, ya know? As much as I love to attend the groups elsewhere, I'd really like to get a shoebox group going in (or closer to) my neck of the woods -Santa Cruz, CA.
That said, I'll put it out to all you Northern Nor-Cal groups ... the invitation goes both ways, it's nice here in the Spring and Summer. And Fall. And Winter ;-).
Being a transplant from Silcon Valley, I'm in the area occasionally and will keep my eyes open for your swaps. I'm pretty sure I could convince DH to visit Roaring Camp for a day, too.
I believe we both attended Debbie T's swap a year or so ago; I recognize your name.
Hi all, I am up in Sonoma and would love to be notified when you have another event. If I hosted something up here in Sonoma, would you all be willing to come to our little town for a day event?
