This is also true of snakes. I can handle spiders...well enough to stomp them but snakes...I'm out!

Are you feeling better? Hope so! I need some reindeer games for the Christmas Party. Any help?

No Angie dont cut down on the O's! You've got a lot built up! LOL. I do agree with Amanda tho - you have enough time to make cards for US.
Need to get busy todaymyself. Spending too much time thinking about colors, etc. I have so much Christmas paper but none that I need.

Good morning Meadeites! No snakes and lots of O's and you can still get cards done Angie.....choose a simple design. Come and play....I am ready! Cindy, hope the sparkle is rekindled soon. Amanda was definitely the hero. She killed the spider. Me......., I closed my eyes and stomped my feet like a kid in a tantrum. I think you all should send me 5 cards each for the holiday, unsigned. In the snap of a finger, my cards would be done! Love that idea.

I can't even stand the thought of a snake. I am trying to get the cards done for the Queens Ink for their gift certificate sale and I haven't really worked on some for myself. I really need to get busy.

I've been working on another cigar box. Today was the first time I experienced a major issue - wanted to throw the box out of the window! Cut all the paper and inked all the edges...then find that the lid is such a tight fit, that it won't close when the inside papers were added. Luckily I had only adhered one inside side panel when I discovered this. So, out comes the undu. So I had to cut the papers down...but that made it look funny since it didn't extend all the way to the border. So, I ended up completely sanding off the inside edges on both sides....down to the raw box...then sponged it with the ink I used to edge the paper. What a PITA. But it looks acceptable. Not super...but acceptable. It's a gift for someone I don't even know (Mr. G. requested it). Hope they like it. Will let you know how well it goes over later this week. Will photograph it when it's completely done.

Hope everyone is having a good day.
Angie, Mr. G must appreciate your talents to ask for a gift for someone. A good trait!
Gloria, sounds like you have taken on a bit w/QI.
Still making cards and spending way too much time on ea design. My old hunter green is dried up and it was the perfect color for this designer paper I wanted to use. Oh well, so they dont match.
Back to the dining rm table, which is piled high with card stuff.

But mr G is getting all the O's. So unfair.

Yep I think this QI bit has run its course.

My brother got a call today from his grandson Nate. Nate was in Mexico he said and was in an accident down there. His friend who was with him was in the hospital and they had arrested Nate. He didn't do anything wrong but they arrested him anyways. Nate needed $2500 to get out. Nate let my brother talk to a lawyer and the lawyer said if Jr could send the money he could get him out soon. Nate was upset and crying. Jr went to Walmart and sent the money. The guy called back and asked for the number of the money gram or whatever it was and said that Jr could call Nate in just a little while and all would be ok. Bugs waited a little while and called Nate. Nate wasn't in Mexico he was in Ashburnham Mass! It was all a scam. Jr called the police and they wanted him to come in. He went down and they had called the western Union and they stopped the transaction. The people hadn't been in yet to pick it up. Thank goodness. They advised Jr to change his telephone number. He had to go back to walmart to get his money and three cop cars were there and they wanted to escort Jr to his car. Jr. said that it sounded just like Nate on the telephone. Can you imagine? How did they know he even had a grandson named Nate. He had gotten another call some time ago. That time they said he won a car and he needed to pay $500 for transportation to get it there. That guy wouldn't stop calling. Finally jr had to tell him he called the cops. Someone has his number for sure.

My parents had gotten a call similar to that...my dad answered the phone and the person on the other line said "Grandpa, I'm in trouble and need your help. I'm in...(some foreign country that I can't remember) and need money...". My parents had just talked to my son and knew that he wasn't in another country. They never said my son's name, but my dad said it did sound like him....

There was just something in the news about this. It appears that they are quite successful with it. NEVER send money to anyone. That's my motto. Show ME the money, I like that much better. Everyone got their Secret Santa gifts ready and their Secret Sister card done and all the other "stuff" we have to do? I am READY so show me the money! Today is brownie Thursday but no brownies....off brownies for awhile.....after Christmas maybe.....

Was off today for an eye appt. Had plans to go by Big Lots, Michael's and the dollar store on the way home but I couldn't see (they dilated my eyes)....I did get home and waited it out for a little while. Still not great but better. Good enough that I did go to Michael's and the dollar store.

I finished up my Secret Santa gift plus got my SS gift for another Secret Santa that I'm in. Wound up spending over $50 at Michael's. Ran into Paula and her mother at the dollar store. I was a BIG spender there- all of $3.00 but I got what I went for!

Jane, now you've made me want brownies...........

My mom really enjoyed tea. We had a nice leisurely chat while we ate. I am so thankful that she is in fairly good health for her age. I cherish these times with her, especially because she is 91, although my maternal grandmother & great grandmother both lived into their late 90s.

Paula so glad you spent some time w/your mother. These are definitely special moments.
Gloria, I have heard of that scam. I wonder how it sounds like your son, grandson, whoever? Or is it because the person is upset and you cant tell if its really them? If people would so much effort at a job they'd probably do good.
Made more cards today. It doesnt seem like the amount of time Im spending on these cards is worth the result. I feel like I should have about 200 cards by now. LOL.
Think I'll repeat some designs now. Then again, maybe Im done w/the homemade ones.
Everyone have a good evening.

Rose, I was wondering the same thing. I just wonder if the person said on the phone something like "Grampy I need money" And Jr said "Nate is that you" And so it went from there. I don't know but I was just trying to figure out how he knew Nate was Jr's grandson. Unless they are checking out the obituary's. Jr's son died a while back and they fill those obits with all kinds of personal infomation. Thank heavens it all worked out and he got his money back.

I bet your cards are beautiful. I took the Queen 20 cards today. Not sure how many she is going to need. I still haven't finished mine. Maybe I will have to find out where Angie is getting hers and buy them. lol

Okay Ms. Rose and Ms. G. Pick a simple layout and mass produce. Folks love the handmade love and I know you can do it. I am pulling for you. I made some of the simplest cards this year and I like them. Trying to keep it easy so I can continue the tradition because if it's too detailed, I can't do it. Too many to make. So, I hope folks will like the handmade love of the simple cards. I am glad the moeny worked out G because these folks out there aer really quite scary. I am so ready for the 8th and some laughter!

This past spring my mom got a call from someone who identified himself as 'your grandson's friend' who was supposedly traveling with our son in Barcelona. He said our son was in an accident and was in the hospital. He needed $10,000 to pay the hospital/doctor. Mom told the caller she didn't have that kind of money and the caller then said how about $2500? Mom told him to call back and she would see what she could come up with. She then called me to ask where our son was (in school in WV!) She then called the cops and was told there was nothing they could do and that there are lots of people getting these calls... So glad she didn't fall for it (but as DH says, mom is too tight to part with any of her money!)

Hi all! DH and I are taking a few days away from home in Myrtle Beach. It's a 3 hour drive, so it's almost like driving from Laurel to Ocean City, but without the Route 50 hassle! The night before leaving I spent some time stamping and designed a Christmas card (late, I know...) I then gathered everything and brought it along to work on while here. I made up a few and now I'm not so happy with what I came up with. Guess I get to redesign when we return home....

Hi Ladies! I stumbled upon you here -- I live in Bowie -- do you guys get together and STAMP? If so, I'd love to join you -- and I have a few friends who would be interested as well! I used to teach stamping and Copic classes at Great Scraps... Now that they are gone, I'm homeless! Nancy

That was a sad day when they said that they were closing. Just wish they would have sold the store instead of closing it. Woohoo we need help with Copics. lol

My Mom got a call a couple years ago..the caller claimed to be a doctor in Germany, told my mom that her daughter was dead and they couldn't release her body until the hospital bill was paid. Keep in mind we were in Germany at the time...but I had talked to her about 20min before thank goodness. Mom said the man was very believable. The police couldn't do anything about it either.

Glad he got his money back. Hopefully he changes his number and doesn't get anymore calls.

Hi Nancy. Did you teach the Honey Pop and/or the pop up cards class at Great scraps. I took both of them & thought the teacher's name was Nancy. I was very sad about Great Scraps closing too. I was there the last day & there was some talk of someone buying it and reopening. Not sure if it's true or not.

Yes we do get together to stamp. We have shoebox swaps every couple of months & get together other times to "create"...lots of fun & laughter...a wonderful bunch of special, talented ladies.

Welcome Nancy! We have lots of fun events coming up. We have a Christmas Party in December (no crafting, just fun). We also have a SBS coming up in January. Hoping to meet you soon.

Wow, all these telephone scams are scary! Gloria, I'm glad your brother was able to get his money back! People will do anything today to rip someone off! I'm glad you guys posted your stories, if I ever get a call like that I'll know it's a scam.

Hi Nancy and welcome! I believe we met at one of Linda Macpherson's stamp camps a couple of months ago. I remember you telling us about Great Scraps closing and that you taught Copic classes there. I know I would love a Copics class and I'm sure we have enough interested ladies for you to do one for us! This is a very talented and fun group of ladies, we'd love to have you join us!

Good morning ladies! You too Amanda.
Welcome Nancy! Would love to meet you at a swap or wherever. A wonderful group of women to craft and just laugh with. Would be very interested in a Copic class.
Might go to Michelles today altho i am stamped out. Kinda. I have about 50 cards so far, some of which are from last years swap or from SAS, most are ones I made this year. Used some kind of icky glitter last night. Its kind of thick or something, I have so much reg glitter, I think this one is headed for the trash. Dont like the results.
So everyone have a great day. Amanda, hope you are getting better.

Amanda, sorry to hear that you are sick. Hope you are feeling better. Nasty time of year to get sick. I took Donna Downey's class at QI last night. She is a lot of fun. Not sure I am a pan pastels person but I am going to keep trying.

Yep, Paula, that's me! I taught Pop-Up cards and Honey Pops at Great Scraps. Is that GOOD or BAD? LOL! And I would be delighted to teach Copics to you guys! And Kathi I remember meeting you at Linda's!

There apparently IS a buyer for Great Scraps -- she is a cardmaker from Sykesville. They didn't surface until most of the inventory was gone -- including many of the fixtures -- so they will be starting from scratch. I have NO idea of when (or even IF) they will be opening -- but I will keep you posted!

I would love to attend your events. Is it possible to e-mail me? I'm not very active on boards at Splitcoast... My e-mail is nfreeman56@verizon.net.

I'm excited to be a part of your group!
