Caterina, so glad your new wheelchair is more comfortable for you.
Gloria, if you're really melting, can I come over? I'd like to melt some too. Hmm, maybe I should just step outside. Think it'll work?
Mary enjoy your vacation.
Im waiting for an inspection from BGE. I guess they arent coming. I had a couple hangups today when i answered. Maybe their cell phone isnt working. I havent even emptied the trash or gotten the mail.

I just got back from Target - the thermometer in the van showed 104 when I arrived in the parking lot there. Yikes! It read 80something when I left my garage and Target is just over 1 mile from home... I forgot to check what it was reading when I got out of the store where the van was sitting in the sun for 30 minutes or so. Glad we have power and AC again!

Ugh...cleaning the kitchen...trying out the new (cheaper) steam mop that I bought before I spent the money on the expensive one...not sure I like it...I guess I'll have to use it a couple more times to see. Haven't been outside but I'm sweating like crazy working! Ugh! Hoping to get it all done today so I can just veg tomorrow in the 102 degrees...and I wanna stamp some, too!

Hope all is well with everyone- stay cool!!!

Mary, if you find a steam mop you like, please let me know. Keep talking to Reynold about getting one.

Stay as cool as possible.

Have a good time Caterina.
I was going to give the dog a bath but got off to a very slow start this morning and now I dont want to go out. I sprayed him w/his skin spray instead. Now he's mad at me. Not as mad as if I gave him the bath tho. LOL.
BGE guy did come yesterday and my AC is working fine. Ithink it feels cooler and its set te same temp. I wonder if he added freon or something. Im not complaining.

Jim has the ac turned down so that the upstairs is comfortable and I am freezing to death. Guess I am going up stairs so I don't get frost bite.

Probably most of you already know this ... Am on the email list for Photoscraps and they have some neat offers -- 75% off all clearance items, also if you spend $15, you get a secret envelope which you can get any one of 200 prizes/discounts.

So I've been "trying" to clean up my stamp area (stop laughing). I've been donating a lot of my extra swap cards to Operation Write Home (OWH). However, I wasn't sure what was appropriate to do with my Secret Sister cards as I feel they are a bit more personal. Would anyone be offended if I donated my extra Secret Sister cards to OWH (if you were the sender of the card)? I would never stamp my name on the back of a card I didn't make....I would just use the generic OWH stamp.

What do you all do with your extra swap and Secret Sister cards, etc.?

I wasn't your SS, but I'm fine with donating Secret Sister cards or resending them, just not selling them for profit...I need to go through my stack of cards here and see if any are appropriate for OWH. I have the OWH stamp here somewhere, too...

LOVE OWH! I'm more than happy for you to donate any of my cards, SS, Swaps, etc. Love reusing cards too. I do always give credit to the original artist tho. I would never stamp my name on, or sell someone else's creation. That's just tacky! Let me go through my hoard and see what I have for you. Love how this group came together and created cards for Rose. Maybe we should have a OWH day soon. That would be FUN!

Amanda, I was so pleased with my card donations and appreciate them all. I think a OWH thing would be wonderful.

It's not complicated...the most important thing to remember is NOT to use glitter.

If we decide to do something, I'll post the particulars.

How do you give credit? Write the name on the back?

OWH project sounds like fun. I'm also trying to get a card rack to hopefully put at the new USO center on Ft. Meade.....so, I'll be bugging y'all for cards to stock that...maybe

No worries about that. I'm not into crafting for profit...just not my thing. Maybe when I retire

When you start selling, it becomes a job, and then it's not "fun" anymore...
I've only sold one thing- a name frame to a teacher at school.

OWH is a great organization - doing great things! I get together with people at work a couple times a year to have a card making lunch (and also donating cards I already have in stock) None of co-worker friends are crafty, so I basically do a shoebox swap with me making all the card packs & each person takes a pack to make about 5 copies of each card. Even though they aren't into craft stuff, they like doing it. I just figure we can crank out about 100 cards faster than I could do 100 on my own!
If you get together for an OWH card making day, I'd be interested in helping out! (if I'm invited).

And I think, no problem donating cards you receive, but never sell other people's work. Not cool.

Do you have an address for them or could I bring some cards to the swap? I have a bunch of cards that I would like to donate to someone that are old swap and secret sister cards.

Is there any themes in particular they are looking for, or does anything go? I put a bunch of glittery and really embellished ones at the church in a "free" box.

Also, does anyone need some embellishments, brads, flowers etc? I've been cleaning out my stamp room in preperation for moving and really have a bunch of stuff that I don't need. Is there a place that takes it or does anyone have use for it?

Not sure what is around your area, however, I know that Ronald McDonald House would take them as well as any Children's hospital and rehabilitation centers. Have taken many things up to RMH & several hospitals and they were extremely grateful for them.

Michelle, I would love to help out. Most of my cards are more for children however, could possible go through my stash to find cards that might work. Would offer to make some but right now my left thumb is not "cooperating" and the right one seems to be following suit. Are you looking for generic cards, birthday cards, etc., let me know.

I am with you - a few years ago a friend wanted to go into a card selling business with me. I would make the cards and she would help sell them. I told her the same thing that it would become a job and take the fun out of it for me.

That's a great idea, there is one in Hershey that our friends volunteer at. I'll check with them. Last time I took a bunch to church, but I know they really don't need anything else.

Default RMH

There is a Ronald McDonald House in Baltimore. It recently celebrated its 30th anniversary. It served about 1500 families last year, over 30,000 since it was opened in 1982. This might be a closer option than Hershey. It's located on W Lexington Street near University of Maryland Hospital and Lexington Market.

Bethesda has a Fisher House. They may accept stuff too.

Love how this group came together and created cards for Rose. Maybe we should have a OWH day soon. That would be FUN!
I was reading that OWH has a "Birthday Bash" each year in September where people host card-making parties during the month...we could have a SBS like we normally do but donate all of the cards to OWH...I think several of us have the OWH stamp and we can stamp the backs of them all...we could take a group photo and send it to them and they can post it on their blog... If there are 21 people there and each makes 20 cards plus samples, that equals quite a lot of cards! Any thoughts?

That's a great idea! I have several OWH stamps I can share! We already have a swap scheduled for Sept 29th....could we do it then?

I guess we'd have to check with Amanda and Cindy since they're hosting the swap...

I kind of like the swaps to be just swaps. Maybe we can get together and just stamp for the Operation Write Home cards. That is more fun.
