FREE NE Colorado/SE Wyoming Stamping Event, October 29th
Wanna get together with other SCSers? Want to learn some new techniques? Want to do a swap with other stampers? Want to stamp and have a chance to win prizes? Want chocolate?
The last was a rhetorical question of course since we all know that stamping and chocolate go hand in hand.
UPDATE!!! A Date and Location have been Set!
When: Saturday, October 29th from 10am to 5pm
Where: Ft. Collins, Colorado
Why: Why else...to stamp of course. And to socialize with others.
Cost: FREE! But we are taking donations for the church that is lending us space. (A HUGE Thank You to Diane Cramer for arranging this!!!!!!!)
Registration: Please sign up by emailing or PMing me! We need to know if you are planning to attend the event. In order to be eligible to win raffle prizes and participate in the shoebox swap, you must register by October 21st. If you don't register by the deadline but would still like to come, please email me.
We are still working out the details for the day, but we are working on 3 technique demonstrations, some type of shoebox swap, and some time for everyone to do card swaps, socialize and just sit and stamp! You don't have to commit for the whole day, but if you want you can stay and stamp the day away.
So some of you are asking yourself "How can I help make this event a great success?" Here are the answers:
1. Volunteer to help with set up or clean up. We will probably set up the evening before hand.
2. Volunteer to bring food/drinks. Everyone will want lunch and what better way than to have people bring things to share.
3. Donate Prizes for the raffle drawings.
By no means do we want anyone doing ALL three things. But if you can help, please let me know.
Directions to the meeting location will be posted a week before the event.
I am excited to meet some new faces and spend time with old friends. See you on the 29th!

How about doing a ShoeBox Christmas Card Event when we get together? That way we can actually get some cards made to send for the holidays Each person brings a box filled with all the supplies necessary to make a full-sized Christmas card. All the boxes are set out and you go from box-to-box making cards. I know the shoebox swaps done at convention took several hours and seemed like everyone enjoyed them. Just a thought.
I may know of a Church that might be able to accommodate us around 120th & I-25. Just depends on the date.
Count me in!
Connie
The showbox thing sounds good, but maybe not necessarily all cards?? Maybe some different things, like small magnets, pens, etc.. And, I would like to see somewhere not too far for the Wyoming people to drive, maybe Longmont, Loveland, Ft. Collins, etc. Driving that far would make it tough on me to get there, but that is all due to finding a place, obviously. Just my 2 cents worth.
Location: The place of sunshine Blue sky, clean clear air snow, big mnts.

Thanks Lisa! I am sure I will need help. We missed you at the expo too!
I am waiting to hear from a few more people on ideas and tomorrow I should have time to make some calls for pricing rooms out. I will hopefully have a date and location by the end of the week and then we can plan all the fun.

I would like a full day of stamping and meeting and greeting.
I'm from the Cheyenne area and would be able to car pool if the kids don't have anything going?
I would like to see some different ideas and a lot of make and takes. Even if we can't get through all of them. Just to have them to look at would be good.
I would also like a theme. Such as Christmas or thank you or birthday or winter.
Thanks for looking into this for all of us. One of your inquiries was length of time - 4 hours of stamping fun sounds reasonable to me. I wasn't sure what "all day" meant. But when you throw travel time in there it might be an "all day" time committment even with a half day of stamping. But, I've never been to one before so maybe you ladies ARE stamping maniacs and when you say "stamp all day" you mean it!! The shoe box thing sounds fun - and productive! Maybe everyone can identify the stamp set they want to use and what they want to make like a card, tags, one sheet wonder templates (with lots of items leftover for more cards or things), gift bags, etc.
I'm in way-north Westminster so the Longmont/Loveland area is very doable for me! Thanks again!
Susan
Fionna is looking into getting us a place to hold this in S. Ft. Collins.
I really like the idea of doing a shoebox swap instead of a make and take. This take the burden off any one single person. And I think a Holiday theme would be nice.
So here are a few more questions for you-
Do you want to see techniques?
Would you like to bring projects to stamp...sort of like a crop type event?
Which days are better....Saturday or Sunday? And what time of day?
I think the length of time isn't as important. People can feel free to come and go as they need.
Thanks for all your imput. Hopefully we will have things sorted out by the end of the week.

Hi,
I'd like to try and make your event. A Sat. or Sun. would work most likely. Do you have approximate dates/times in mind yet? I'll be coming up from Colorado Springs if you don't mind gals from down here attending?
Thanks,
Mary ;)
We have 4 dates and are checking availability for them now for different locations. Those dates are October 22nd, October 29th, November 5th and November 12th. I am sorting through price/space issue. Right now it looks like we may have to limit the number of people who can attend. I would hate to do this. But it will cost more to rent a larger room and if I can, I want to keep cost at a minimum for everyone...if not FREE!!
I am going to post a poll for number of people and cost so that I can get an idea of how many people are interested in attending this event and how much they are willing to pay for the room. Please fill out the poll. THANKS!

Hi, I thank you for this... I know for sure the 5th of Nov. is out for me due to my son's birthday. Has anyone checked on firestations or libraries? I don't have a way of contacting any from down here, but I know firestations and libraries here in the Springs that you can use there community rooms for free if there are no sales involved. Just a idea to share. Thanks for the update!
I had someone email me about a possible free space and they were going to check on availability and get back to me. Haven't heard from them yet.
One of the hotels I called hasn't returned my call returning her call...well you get the point. Can someone say phone tag, you're it?! Anyway, I really want to get a price on this one as it has some fairly large meeting rooms and if they are reasonable, we won't have to limit the number of people. Plus, they have quite a few rooms so we probably won't be as limited on the dates either.
Please be sure you vote on the poll. I need to know how many people would be interested in coming at what max. cost. It will help me to decide so many things.
Thank you so much and I hope to have more info for you by Monday.

I only have 5 people who have RSVP'd to date. Don't forget to let me know if you are planning to come so that I can organize the shoebox swap and other planning items. Thanks!

Is there someone out there that is willing to take over the organization of this event? I have had a major family emergency come up this past week and it needs my full attention. Otherwise I will need to cancel this event because I don't have the ability to continue doing this and won't be able to be there on that Saturday.
I probably won't be back online again until the middle of the week, so if someone just wants to run with it, please feel free. The location for this event was arranged by Fionna51--Diane Cramer and several others including Nancy Voyles had agreed to help. Please contact them yourself as I will be unavailable for the next few days and possibly even weeks.
Thanks.

I am new and was wondering if this is open to everyone or just demonstrates?
I would love to come just need to know what to bring, directions, and what ever eles I need to know.
Greetings to all--
I have received some PMs from some of you concerning the event Boulderstamper was planning on Oct 29. I have included the answer I have given here....
I saw the message on the forum from Boulderstamper about a week ago as well, and I was hoping she would call me directly, or at least PM me. I arranged the space and was planning on doing the setup Friday AM since I am attending a benefit banquet on Friday night for our crisis pregnancy center. I have talked to Michelle a couple of times but was not in on her planning. She had some people to do some technique demos, had a swap organized, and some other things, but I don't know ANY details. I don't even know how many people were signed up by the time she posted her latest message. I don't have her phone number in my cell phone any more (too many calls since then!) and the forum is the only way I have to contact her. I think we will have to cancel for this Saturday, unless you have any better ideas? The space will be able to be used at a future date if we want to! I do apologize....
Diane
