Appleton, WI October 10, 2009 Curds & Other Stampers Get together.
Hi Gang,
I thought I should start a separate thread for the Appleton get together. I have great news about our class. I was able to get Sarah Justison from the Paper Cut, paper company to come and talk to us about paper - things we should know and what inks etc. can be used for each type. She will have a basic hand out and we can take extra notes as we go. After her talk there will be 4 stations set up to make cards demonstrating some things we have just learned. The cost is $18.00 per person (CASH or Check only). No supplies are needed for the class. You might want to have a pen to take notes, though.
So here is the schedule for our private room at the Atlas Coffee Millin Appleton. 425 W. Water St. Appleton, WI -Phone is 920-734-6871 10:00 - 10:30am ----------------Meet and Greet 10:30 -12:00 or 12:15pm ------- Paper Class 12:30 - 2:00 -----------------------Lunch We will be ordering from a limited menu. It will probably include a salad, sandwiches, quiche and soup and half sandwich options. The cost will be $9.95 - $12.95 including coffee, tea or soda. There will be separate checks for lunch. If anyone has any dietary restrictions please let me know and they will be accommodated.
After lunch there are some stamping related places you might want to visit. Click the Link. The 2 stamping stores are located right around the corner from each other, On the grounds of the Fox Valley Mall. Next to S & S Memories is a great bakery, chocolate and ice cream place.:mrgreen:
Thanks Martha. I have it on my calendar and really hope I will be healthy enough to come. I really want to. But if there is someone who wants to sign up after you are full, I certainly would understand if you gave her my spot.

Thanks for starting the thread and all the line up you have done. As we get closer, let us know if we need to send you the money or just bring it and let you know what we want, class and food wise.

Robyn,
You will be able to order off of the limited menu on that day. At this point I'm not planning on collecting money for the lunch but I may do it for the class so I'm not caught short if someone cancels at the last minute.
Not sure what you mean about "let you know what we want class and food wise....." The class has been booked.
If you're reading this thread and don't know that several of us are spending the weekend in a log cabin near Appleton, read the thread "Curds Get Togethers" for more details. I have found out that the cabin sleeps 12, not just 10 so we can still handle a few more people! TigerLily - this event at Atlas sounds great - it's getting so close and I'm so excited - I can't wait! Thanks for organizing all of this!

Maybe you should post your info on this thread? I guess I could have checked with you before starting the thread to see if you wanted to include your info here. I thought you had a full house though.
can't wait to see y'all again ... Christmas in October!!!

What I meant by 'class and food wise' was if we had to tell you ahead if we want to take the class or not and what food we wanted so you could place the order. You answered the food question - order off the menu.
My class Friday at the Cabin - will need a count by October 1st as to who wants to do it. I'll move the information over here later.
Thanks.

I sure hope everyone is taking the class!
My husband is soooo wishing his friends were more like mine. They expect him to organize and run everything. When I do one swap then a different person does another swap and another does the next get together he is just wishing the guys could get a clue. Thought it would be nice to share how lucky we are to have such a great group of girlfriends. FUN for everyone. Oh, plus all the AWESOME helpers that turn out at every event (Robyn). YOU LADIES ARE THE BEST !!!!!!
For the Stationary Box class at the Cabin in October I came up with a cost of $6.19 not including embellishments or red-line adhesive. Below is a list of supllies and how I came up with the price. The price of the pen may be a bit high..I didn't get to really price it.
I'll set the price at $6.25 to include embellishments and adhesive.
Stationary Box by Jackie Topa
TOTAL COST $6.19 not including embellishments
Supplies
$0.92 1 sheet 12 x12 DSP (lid, address book, stamp envelope)
(($11.95 + $9.95) / 2 )/12
Supplies to make cards, love notes and tags.
$3.28 8 sheets whisper white/neutral card stock
( (7.50 + 8.95)/2)/20=$0.41
$0.22 1 sheet 8-1/2 x 11 colored card stock
$7.95/36 = $0.22
$0.92 1 sheet 12 x 12 DSP to make my cards and tags.
(($11.95 + $9.95) / 2 )/12
12x12 DSP comes 12 sheets: 2 ea. of 6 double-sided designs for $11.95 or $9.95
I'll plan on bringing enought supplies for 25 boxes.
If a few people or everyone could bring a paper cutter/scorer and scissors,
I'll bring the punches that would be appropriate, red-line adhesive, a variety of embellishments and some stamps and pads.
If you have favorite stamps that you like for sayings you might want to bring them along.

Hi Robyn,
Add me to your list for the class at the cabin. I can't wait for this. I am sure Sheri will want to do that class to. I will talk to her this week-end and let you know. As for everything else I think Sheri and I are signed up. If not let me know and we will let you know.
Ok, Ladies - I've been following your "Curds" thread for almost a year I think! I live in Appleton and "I give" as I used to say to my older brothers - I want in! Is there room for one more for both your get together at the Coffee Mill and at that beautiful cabin in Fremont? I think I have to contact someone else, but I'm all confused.
If there is room, I'd be happy to teach a project (or not if you have enough.) I've been teaching stamping and scrappin' for about 10 years now, so I know a few things
Let me know and you all sound just wonderful - even "the shy one" - Jodi!
I talked with Sheri and we will be doing everything. Please sign us up and let us know if you need payment for anything. Again thanks for organizing everything.

Hi Linda! Another Appleton gal?! Excellent!

At the Hartford Shoebox yesterday there were a lot of questions about the October weekend in Appleton so I'm going to attempt to clarify how I see the weekend going. RobynO and Tigerlily, please correct me if I'm wrong!
The overnight at the cabin in Fremont and for Atlas Coffee Mill's private room are nearly full BUT even without signing up, anyone can meet up with us and spend time at the cabin without sleeping overnight and can still go shopping with us on Saturday. You can do as little or as much with the group as you want to. (Archivers has a huge scrapping room open all day.) Some people will probably make it a pj & scrap weekend at the cabin without ever going anywhere and that's absolutely fine.
RobynO is bringing enough supplies for 25 Stationary Boxes and she'll be leading this project at the cabin on Friday night for anyone that's interested. The cost of supplies is $6.25 per person. (See post #16 for details.)
On Saturday from 10am - 2pm, Tigerlily has organized a group going to Atlas Coffee Mill for some classes and lunch. (See post #1 for details.)
On Saturday night, I'm making a lasagne dinner at the cabin for whomever is there. It'll be premade and easy to heat up whenever someone wants dinner - nothing formal. Sweide is making a dessert for Saturday night.
The cabin is a great log cabin- only a couple of years old so it's very, very nice but it's not a scrapbook mansion or anything like that. There's a small log kitchen table with benches and 2 chairs. (see it at www.cabinonthecreekwi.com) There's more space in the basement than anywhere for people to set up a scrapping table and work. I think anyone that plans to have enough space and wants to spend the weekend at the cabin should probably bring a folding table and chair, then you know you'll have what you want. I paid $300 for the cabin for the weekend and since then I have learned that the cabin is $300 just for 4 adults. For 10 adults it'll be $600. I'm going to pay the extra $300 but will have a pretty can out for anyone staying at the cabin that can afford to contribute to the cost put in whatever amount they wish to.
For myself, I'm going to bring some small things to work on but I doubt that I'll be taking them out of my bag at all. I plan on doing RobynO's project on Friday, then on Saturday I'm going to Atlas Coffee Mill for Tigerlily's classes & lunch, I'm a tea drinker so I'll go to Fava Tea then Archiver's and Scrapbook & Stamping Memories. That will be my whole day, then back to the cabin for lasagne dinner and girl talk or scrapping/stamping.
We need to be out of the cabin by 11 am so if I didn't get to one of the stores, I'll go at that time or maybe go to Archiver's and do some scrapping/stamping in their big room. It looks like their room is open from 11am - 6pm so by 6pm I'll start heading back to reality.
I am so excited to be participating! It seems a little "silly" since I live in Appleton, but meeting new stamping people is always so fun! I have to tell you that visiting Archivers will be enjoyable - the people who work there are so nice and helpful!
For those of you going to the cabin - for Saturday night, I see there is lasagna and dessert - I will bring a salad and an appitizer.
I do have one question for right now - are we suppose to be bringing any sort of swap to the event on Saturday at the Mill?
THANK YOU,I'm so glad you explained this. The whole weekend was starting to take off in different directions for every person attending. I can bring my air pop popcorn machine and will make something yummy ahead of time to bring also. This is going to be the best slumber party!!!! Should we plan on a DVD veiwing of Grease? I could bring the movie and the soundtrack! Have some stamping DVDs but to be honest they put me to sleep. The lady must have a very relaxing voice.
I"M SSSOOOOO EXCITED!!!!! Just can't wait.
Mel
Would anyone like to do a "Secret Sister" type of a thing for this? We could do nice Lottery type items or a "white Elephant" dirty santa? type of thing where we each make something really ugly. Jean was telling me about it at the friendship swap and it sounded so funny where you can keep the ugly item you win or "steal" someone elses not as ugly item. It just sounded fun as a stampers game. Something to kick arouond between now and then.
