“1st Annual” SAN ANTONIO 2009 SCS Shoebox Swap
Ladies, your invited to come join me and our other fellow Stamper’s for my first shoebox swap held in San Antonio, Texas, and in hope’s this can be an annual affair in good ol’ SA!!!! So my Stamper “peeps”, please read all the information below, and attachments and if you have any question’s let me know… I’ll be happy to answer!!!

Date: Saturday, January 24, 2009
Time: 9:00 am to 9:00 pm (including clean up time)
Place: Wind Gate Ranch
9007 Wind Gate Pkwy.
San Antonio, TX 78254
My parents have graciously allowed me to hold this shoebox event on their property; they have an oversized “HEATED Garage” of course that will have full accommodations for our use. Parking is no problem, they have over an acre of space and their community is widely open well to accommodate all the cars. You may park all in front of their home along their driveway, and in the backyard all along the concrete area. Once filled the overflow parking will be in the community median; it is fully accessible for parking it is grass area, but hard packed. You can’t park on the actual community road, as its one lane only on each side for driving cars. I’ll have signs at the front of the community, and in front of the house for easy finding!
Directions:
Although these are a more detailed directions, I do suggest using mapquest routes, or yahoo maps for door to door directions.
**Possible construction delays maybe on 410 LOOP, they are notorious for shutting it down on weekends, so I am not going to lead directions thru there, for possible delays**
FROM Austin/Dallas: Take I-35S, Merge onto 1604NW Loop, follow the loop all the way around till Culebra/FM471 Exit. Mapquest can give you mileage. Exit at Culebra, turn right, drive 5.5 miles outside the loop, youll see first Kallason Ranch Entry, pass that, and right after that is Wind Gate Ranch Entry, make a right, head into the gates, the house will be on your left side after you pass the first stop sign. There will be signs posted.
FROM Houston: Take 1-10W all the way into SA, it changes automatically into Hwy 90W, continue on Hwy90W, merge onto 151 Sea World Fwy, take that all the way till it dies at Loop 1604, Go slight right to exit the 151 Sea World Fwy, which exits you automatically onto Culebra/FM471. At the light turn left, drive 5.5 miles outside the loop, youll see first Kallason Ranch Entry, pass that, and right after that is Wind Gate Ranch Entry, make a right, head into the gates, the house will be on your left side after you pass the first stop sign. There will be signs posted.
From the hotels: you will want to merge right on to TX151W fwy which is located right at the hotel locations, take that all the way till it dies at Loop 1604, Go slight right to exit the 151 Sea World Fwy, which exits you automatically onto Culebra/FM471. Cost: $20 (includes: Lunch, Dinner, Beverages and Rental of Tables and Chairs for this event, and possibly a Margarita Machine (suggested by Ms. Sassybee LOL) if budget permits)
A HUGE Shoe Box Swap, eat and have fun! Everyone who comes should plan to participate. Bring a shoebox or similar container with all the supplies for 50 people to make your card. Plus a few extras, for any mess ups! Also have two card’s complete, one for a display board, and one for display at your station.
What hotels do you recommend for out of town participants?

I have selected hotel choices off Hwy 151/Sea World Area, as that is the most convenient places to stay. It is about 10 miles from the venue.
Please mapquest directions from your hotel. I will post them, but have it as a backup..I don't leave home with out directions LOL, but I still got lost coming home from the Austin Swap LOL, I'm such a goof!
Dinner for Friday night!
I’m going to see what will be large enough that is a local location; we can meet all for dinner if you are interested on 1/23/2009! Details will be coming soon. If you are interested in joining for a dinner, post “Dinner YES!” to the thread as well.
Any SCS member can come. All you have to do is post on this thread that you want on “the list” if you already haven’t PM me, but Post again to be sure I have you down. There is a maximum of 50 spots available---first come, first serve! If all the spots are filled, a waiting list will be started.
***This event will be PEANUT-FREE! One of our swappers is deathly allergic to peanuts. So please make sure you don't bring any snacks that contain peanuts.***

All hotels are located off 410/Hwy 151 Freeways. They are easy to find, as they are located right off the highways for easy travel and location. And also close to Restaurants, and Fast food Joints!
(Quality Inn and Sleep Inn and Suites are the same owners, no explanation of different room rates. They are located on the same property next door to each other. You may access amenities from both hotels when staying at either at no extra charge.)

Quoting online about $140's a night. I did not visit this hotel, just drove by to get the name. Located right off Hwy 151, center of my house, and the Stamp Venue. Right at Sea World Exit. The online reviews were good!
All these hotels are located on the West/Northwest side of San Antonio. Literally minutes from Downtown, Downtown is 15min away, if that LOL if you were planning to visit Riverwalk on Sunday or Friday. Hotels all have internet accesibilities as well!
I did not book a block of rooms, as I was told at the locations I visited that that is their slow season so room rates are down. But I do encourage still booking early to ensure your room reservation.

There will be no actual firm reservation because we do not have enough participants to reserve the Party Room, but they will have no problem accomidating us. I plan to arrive there at 615pm and put our name in for our group! The restaurant is located right on the riverwalk! So it's convient local to do some shopping before and after dinner, and sightseeing the riverwalk if you'd like before heading back to your rooms!

Just wondering how many LSS are located nearby. Might be worth a detour on the way home ;)
There is Mike's and HL right at the 1604/Culebra exit that you exit. We have Stamp Antonio, Scrapbook 911, and one more LOL can't think of the name...they are all easily accessed from the LOOP 1604.
