Denise - 'fabby' ideas - I have a call into the Catholic Church. Hopefully they return it. Olds College got me excited as they knew exactly what I wanted, and they have on campus rooms to rent, but alas, they were all booked up. Definately an idea for next year. Red Deer College was all booked up. Our schools (and schools in Red Deer) are closed for maintenance. Aberdeen Hall is a possibility, though I am trying to stay in town for 'food' convenience. I am going to try the arena. Can you see us all on the ice surface? *snort* Atleast we will be contained and it will be cool. The United Church and the Seniors Centre both have great spaces, but again no AC. Someone said to try the Country Lodge, so that is on my list for today. Keep the ideas coming!
Peggy - you are right - wedding season has taken quite a few halls off the list. They are booked for Saturday.
But - I have talked to some wonderful ladies around town who have been so helpful in brainstorming.

More Clarity -
The shoebox swaps should be planned to take about 20 minutes to complete. They can be any item you want to contribute, 3D or full cards. For those of you signing up, figure about 30 minutes per project, so I figure plan for about 2 1/2 to 3 hours per group. That will give you lots of time to work on them.
Kids - though we all love our kiddies, and I understand child care issues (I raised 2 of my own), this really is a time just for us. So I am going to have to say no to bringing kids, (and no one is allowed to bring their hubbys unless they stamp - lol). But if you are travelling with them, and they want to stop in briefly and say hello, we won't throw them out, please just use your discretion.
OK I've posted our swaps on the events calendar but I'm waiting for a mod to approve it!
This is what I wrote: Hope it is OK
Come join your SCS sisters in Innisfail, Alberta, Canada on July 20, 21 and 22nd. This is a time for everyone to enjoy some quality stamping time, share techniques and toys, and just get a break....
Friday July 20th will kick off with a Pot Luck supper. This is a time to get set-up, have a bite to eat and visit with all of your fellow stampers.
Saturday and Sunday - We will be doing shoe box swaps during the day, and working on our own projects
Times: This is dependent on our space, but I am hoping to start at 6pm on Friday until 9pm, Saturday will be from 9am until 9pm, and Sunday from 9am to 4pm..
In addition to our shoebox swaps we will be hosting 3 General Swaps: Inspiration challenge: Make a Garden Themed card front using 'anything but flower' stamps. Let your imagination flow and see what interesting idea's you can come up with Technique swap: Choose a technique from the resources forum and see what you can come up with. 3D swap: Create anything but a card. If it doesn't move ... stamp it .... If it does stamp it anyway LOL!
* Swaps can be full cards or mountable card fronts whatever works best for your project.
* Please PM riemomof2 if you would like to participate.
* We will be exchanging our swaps on Sunday July 22nd.
* We will accepting entries until July 1st so that participants will have time to prepare.
* Please remember to include a label with your real name, SCS name and list if "ingredients" / Accessories used in your project.
* General Swaps will be ALL + 2 (to give our lovely hostesses who will more than likely not have a lot of time to stamp a copy of the swaps as well) You will recieve a copy of your own swap back.
* We will hold a secret vote to select our favorite swap of the weekend!
* Please subscribe to thread to keep up to date with location, times, and final swap numbers.

Hi Robin,
I would like to come to your stamping weekend but can't make it on Friday the 20th. Count me in for the 3 shoe boxes. I am really looking forward to it.

WE HAVE A SPACE! WE HAVE A SPACE!
Yes ma'ams, after many hours of phoning around, we finally have a space confirmed. We are going to be at the Catholic church hall. When I reserved it, the kindly secretary asked if we were a quiet bunch, because we have to keep the noise down during the services. And I thought - what the heck, surely we can keep it to a dull roar for 2 hours out of the weekend. Ya think?
We have the whole hall, upstairs and down. So if it is hot we can set up downstairs in the cool, if it is a rainy weekend, upstairs.
The cost ends up to be $20/person, that is for Friday night, Saturday and Sunday. Hope that works for you all.
two questions: Im not catholic, is it still cool I come?
#2: I guess I can't bring "sex in a pan" eh? umm I shall rename it...."chocolate lover's delight"
there...

Since I'm not Catholic either, you can sit in the corner and hum show tunes with me whilst the other stampers sing along ;)
And since I am married to a Catholic, and have 2 kids, I can guarantee that they won't bat an eye at 'sex in a pan'. Maybe raise an eyebrow and race for a plate to share.....
The hall is attached to the church, but is separate, so we shouldn't have any problems.

Answer #1 Weeeeeeellllll, we'll tell them you're considering converting LOL!
Answer #2 You'll have to call it vehicle for conception in a pan! That'll work! LOL!
Lest I offend any one I'm allowed to make these cracks I've been baptised, confirmed and married in the church! If you can't laugh at your self who can you laugh at?
Peggy ... we'll just dial back the buckies drip and hour or so before services begin and dial it back up again when they're over that should help with the whole volume thing!

AnneMarie - did you get the swap forum working? I went searching, but couldn't find it.
It was waiting on MOD approval but I put it under the EVENTS forum so that we don't get inundated with outside entries (UNLESS that's what everyone wants?)
I went looking for it a minute or so ago and couldn't find it yet so maybe tomorrow?

OK so I'm going to set up a tracking list in this forum. Either post the swaps you want to be included in here or PM me and I'll update the list daily .... who am I kidding it will probably be updated 6 or 7 times a day with the amount I'm on here! LOL
