know where Mooers is, atcuall it is only about 15 minuets from wherew my husband grew up and where we spent most of our vacations while my in-laws were alive. Where in Mooers?

FYI: my last name is Donald...just Donald (today's history lesson: actually Donald is the first Scottish clan. The Mc..., Mac..., and ...son all mean Son of Donald). ;)

Becky,
How funny! Not many people are familiar with much that far North! We are just just about a half mile or so before the intersection of Routes 11 and 22. If you go right on 22, it takes you to Plattsburgh. Where is your husband from?

Sorry, my mistake. I've corrected it.

Has anyone looked into motels/hotels in the area? I don't know the Canandaigua area at all so would appreciate some input.
Melissa,
I am not very familiar with the lodging options in Canandaigua, but I'll bet there are some really quaint ones considering the lake is right there. I'm going to have Carolyn give you more information as she lives right in that area!

There is Canandaigua Inn on the Lake, Super 8 & Red Roof Inn. I'm thinking Super 8 is your best bet. I think that is the newest (and least expensive one) one.

Melissa-Not sure what you are looking for so I am giving you some different ideas and you can check them out and make your decision! There are many B&B's in the city of Canandaigua. A couple of them are VERY close to the church where the gathering is being held. These are INN ON THE MAIN, and BELLA ROSE B&B. I have been inside Bella Rose and it is magnificent!! Both of these B&B's are only a couple blocks away from the gathering.
There is really only one hotel I would recommend in the city-INN ON THE LAKE. It is right on Canandaigua Lake and very nice. However, it is a bit pricey but only 1-2 miles away from gathering.
There are some NICE & CHEAP hotels in Victor if you want to go that route. Victor is right off the Thru-way exit and is on your way to Canandaigua! These hotels include COMFORT INN & SUITES-FARMINGTON, NY(this one is off the Canandaigua thruway exit); BEST WESTERN PLUS-VICTOR $77-144/night; MICROTEL INN-VICTOR $47-75/night; HOLIDAY INN EXPRESS-VICTOR $109-143/night; and HAMPTON INN & SUITES-VICTOR $116-177/night. These hotels are about 10-15 min. drive from the gathering.
I hope this helps you to make your decision. If you have further questions, please contact me at [email protected]. You can look any of these up online by their names too to see what they look like. See you SOON!!!
This past year was my first time doing the secret sister thing, which I enjoyed! The gift we are bringing in Oct, is it for the person we have been sending to or the person we have been receiving from?? Just asking because I know more about the person I've been sending to- since I have her sheet of likes/dislikes from last year. OK. Doesn't really matter either way but I am wondering! Thanks!

Lauri, how do you run your shoebox projects? Will we be making the shoebox projects at JUST our ONE table (approx. 8 kits + 4 completed samples) in the morning and then Make & Takes in the afternoon? -OR- do we switch tables in the afternoon and make shoebox projects at a second table (approx. 16 kits + 4 completed samples for the day)?
I'm looking forward to meeting MORE crazy stampers like me!
OK, I re-read the first post for the second time this morning and it looks like we do shoebox projects at just ONE table in the morning. Is that correct?
Can't wait for this event and to meet my secret sister. Such a fun time last time I went and plan to attend every year now...Happy card making ladies....
Thanks for answering my question, so looking forward to it!
Arlene, I don't think there is much for stamp shopping around Canandaigua, although they do have a nice JoAnns. Maybe someone knows of something I'm not aware of!

Now another question: If we don't see our secret sister from last year on the attendee list should we still bring her gift? Or should we mail it? We still have a couple of weeks so there's still time to sign up, but I just thought I'd throw it out there.
Thanks for answering my question, so looking forward to it!
