Mama's getting a new car! We sold the Honda today and I was able to get to the bank in time to deposit the check. Lucky to get it in today since Monday's a holiday and they put a 6 day hold on large deposits. We'll be shopping for a new Honda or Toyota soon and will trade in my beloved 2004 Toyota. I suggested DH get a new truck (I find the truck more and more difficult/cumbersome to drive...especially with the plow on it) instead but he'd rather get a new car. Wish the hybrids weren't so expensive!

My mom passed away this morning. We visited yesterday and she slept peacefully the whole time we we there. She was very comfortable. I'm waiting to tell dad when he wakes up. Probably the hardest thing I'll ever have to do.

Soooooo sorry, Nancy! I, too, know what that is like and it takes a long time to get through to an "easier" place. Please let me know how I can help you.

Oh Nancy!! I am SO sorry! The hardest thing in life (I believe) is when our Moms pass and leave us! You and your family are in my thoughts. {{{{hugs}}}}
I was saddened to hear of your mom's passing. As Pat said, even though it was expected, it is still difficult to accept. May your memories sustain you through this difficult time.
Last night the power went out about 6 and didn't come back on until 12:30-ish. It was down to 56 in our house. DH went to the store while I sat under several blankets and read by flashlight or played games on my iPad. We slept under five blankets. The power going on must have awaken me so I came downstairs to let the washer finish a load of laundry and to turn off all the lights. Talked to the neighbor tonight and she saw that a tractor trailer had tried to make a sharp right turn (by the sign that says no right turn for trucks!) down the road from us and it went on its side taking down a power line and pole. I hope the driver was fine and that the sheriff ticketed his sorry *****! That's at least two trucks in the past six months that missed their turn for the Walmart Distribution Center and ended up struck trying to make that turn...fools! READ THE SIGN, PEOPLE! It's there for a VERY good reason! It knocked out about 100 customers' power according to Nat Grid when I called it in at 6:06.
The power outage cause our internet connection not to work so DH had to call the cable company tonight to reset our connection. It's amazing how dependent I am on being able to get on my iPad to chat with you all and see what you are up to!
