Hello all! I have finally booked us a place....so here's all the info!
"Mad-City Madness": A Madison Area Splitcoast Gathering
Hosted by: Tracy Filter aka AZMommy (and anyone who is willing to help!)
Who: SCS Members & Guests (limit 1 guest per member) - Max. 50 people
What: Shoebox swap - a fun day of stamping
When: Saturday, January 28, 2006
Time: 10 am to 3 pm (we need to be out of the room by 4 pm)
Where: Prairie Athletic Club, 1010 North Bird St., Sun Prairie, WI 53590
Cost: $25 per person
What do you get for your $25?
You'll come away with up to 50 new card ideas! Your entry fee covers lunch, the cost of the room and fabulous door prizes! And of course, a lot of laughs and great company!!
Anything else?
What....that's not enough? Anything left over after expenses will be donated. I will split it between Splitcoast and Imagine A Child's Capacity. ICC is a Madison-area, non-profit organization providing a variety of therapies for children with various special needs. My younger son, Zack, has autism and receives occupational therapy from this group. If you'd like more information, please PM me and I will provide you a weblink.
What do you need to do?
Design a card & supply enough materials for everyone to have one. You will bring 1/2 of your cards pre-made and we will make the other 1/2 that day. EDIT - SINCE WE ONLY ENDED UP WITH 26 PEOPLE - YOU ONLY NEED TO PREMAKE 1 FOR ME - BRING THE REST AS SUPPLIES.
What else can I do?
There are 3 optional swaps: Card Front, Anything But A Card and Lottery.
Card Front - simply that....make a card front for everyone who participates
Anything But A Card - make one for everyone who participates
Lottery - create one fabulous, hand-stamped item and you'll go home with one!
Anything else?
Stamping is always better with chocolate.
Now........just fill out the attached form and send it with your check made out to:

I'm still stumped about swaps...I'll have to think it over the next few days...I have an idea, but it uses the "Mixed Bouquet" set from a recent mini catalog that isn't the current mini...would anyone be offended if I used that stamp set, or should I stick to current and SAB stamps?
Thanks for any insight you all can provide...I want to be sure that my swaps are top-notch for this hometown, talented group!! ;)

I personally do not have a problem with that, since this is an SCS gathering, not an SU gathering. Although I'm a SU demonstrator, my guest is not. And it's possible that others are not as well. So, I don't think we can assume that all the swaps will be using SU stuff.
Don't fret too much Melanie. Melody is right. This is a Splitcoast gathering....and while the majority of what you find here is SU - it's not required. Anything goes!
Those of us that are demos still appreciate other stamped art. I know as I look through stamping magazines, I'm drawn to techniques, color combinations and layout ideas. Then I just adapt them to my SU stamps.
Now let's keep those registrations coming!!!! I'm hoping my mailbox will be overflowing these next few days (we still only have 7 officially signed up!).
