Default I found a stolen moped today...

At a cache.

Good Morning all! I have a droid phone and I'm sure there's an app, but I can download the ones I want right to the gps and go from there. I do think it would be quicker to get alerts to the phone if I ever want to get an FTF but I'm always late to the table anyway. The only way I'll get a FTF is if niece gives me a heads up that she has a new one about to go live and tells me where it will be popping up! No, she hasn't done that, just my little pea brain thinking. I don't think I've ever had a FTF.

I prefer cemetary finds. No one there cares if you wander around aimlessly trying to pinpoint the location! LOL I guess the ones I hate the most are ones that are hidden in public locations and I look like an idiot talking to myself! I once waited a half hour for people to leave so I could look under the mailbox on Main Street! I also got a parking ticket at Ricketts Glen State Park for taking a shortcut because the gps said it was soooo close! Got the find, also paid $5 for it! LOL

I agree - I like park hides and cemetery hides too. Urban ones just make me feel like a criminal

Kathy you can get an email notification of every new hide, every disabled listing etc. through the notifications on the site. You have to be a premium member.

Yes, my niece is premium member and gets those emails right to her phone. Have you ever gone to an event? We have this cute couple with a young son and they do a cool event every year this time. We went to one once. Nearly a hundred new hides in the area that year for the event so we picked up a few, but they meet for lunch, chatting, prize drawings and then go out caching into the wee hours of the morning! I need to see if they have a bash coming up. DH went along with me all the time and he had no problems looking around near intersections that I would just hide in the car. He would bring me the log and I'd sign and he'd take back! He is a good man. But he doesn't like doing the all day hunts anymore, but is willing to do an occasional one or two if we're out and I have the coords....

Yes! I love events! We have a fun group that does breakfast and caching monthly an that's tomorrow.

And thankfully there are a lot of lunch events this month to help us all keep our 31 day streaks going because its 108 degrees and the air is full of African dust, so being outside is tough.

Your moped story reminds me of our laurenscraft...she found a stolen moped on her property just this past year!

Are you on target for one a day? I really need to line up a few. It's been way too long.

Yes - I'm on track! We went to a State park before work this morning and did an AWESOME earth cache and two more. This earth cache is called Shelter Rock. This is my caching partner doing some calculations.

Wow that picture is awesome! I don't think I've done any earth caches. Most of mine are traditional. A few multi's along the way. I think I have done a puzzle cache too, but I need to go in and check out my stats.

Earth caches are a blast - you have to collect info about the feature and send it to the CO. What is your username? Are we friends on the site?

Forgot to tell you my car is a trackable! I have only had one or two people recognize the Travel Bug symbol on my back windshield other than at events. At events the people go up and down the parking lot and mark them found in their accounts.

Where did you get yours? I've been wanting to get one but they vary wildly in price!

My niece ordered it for me online. I am the one who got her hooked and she has surpassed anything I've done. She traveled to Seattle and stopped along the way to pick some up along the way. I will email and ask where she ordered from because I paid her and I know it wasn't too bad. They gave me a set of tags, plus the decal so I hang the tag on my keychain. I had piece of gold trackable but it got lost somewhere near Ohio I think. I had to finally had to inactivate it. That one I won in a raffle at an event. I'll post when she replies to my email.

Cemetery caches are some of my faves! I love that it's quiet and you don't look out of place walking around and looking at things!

Lydia, did you get a cache a day in August? I was hoping to get at least one the whole month and still haven't been able to get out caching.

I DID!!!

I'm actually closing in on a 400 day streak!!

I've found a cache every day since I've started!

What's cool is there are a few caches around here that are challenge caches for souvenirs and streaks - so the August souvenirs helped me get to one of those - now I just need to go sign the log - it's about an hour from here.

I'm working on a REALLY fun series now! Check it out:

GC1CQ78 Nine Princes in Amber (Unknown Cache) in Texas, United States created by Indigo Parrish

They're REALLY hard - some are 4.5 terrain - life threatening climbs.

My hubby tried to keep his streak going after the Aug challenge & ended up falling & breaking his wrist. He came home & said, "I've got some good news & some bad news... good news I got the cache, bad news is I broke my wrist." He broke his wrist & decided to get the cache while he was out there.

OMG!!!!

The one we did in the wee hours of the morning this morning was super scary. I don't have hiking shoes so I didn't climb the cliff - way too scary in tennies.

Our greenbelts are wicked dangerous here. Tell him I admire his pluck!

Wow! Congrats on that streak!! That's awesome! As for danger, the most dangerous one I did was on top of a mountain, almost straight up (but coming down was even worse!) I thought I was going to have a heart attack. My heart was pounding in my chest at some points. It may not have been as heart pumping, but we wandered off in the wrong direction at first so added and extra mile and a half before the mountain climb! We (DH and I) were so out of shape and had we known what we were in for we may not have tried it. I can't believe we're still alive!

Of course he got signed the log....broken wrist and all. I know I wouldn't have gone through all that without signing the log! LOL Hope he is healing well!

Now I'm off to check out Lydia's link!

You may have minded uphill on this one though....Almost straight climbing, pulling yourself up by grabbing hold of tree branches or whatever I could reach! I've never gone straight up on any kind of hike before this one. I'm just having fun now that I lived to tell about it! LOLOL
