Default Are you so over it???

Is there anything you are just plain, flat out tired of?

For me, it's butterflies. I think I have had enough of them. [A few years ago it was eyelets. Today I don't see many of those! ]

I still see great creations with butterflies, but I am losing the desire to work with them.

Is there something you're getting tired of????

I've been stamping seriously for five years now and I have for sure gotten into my groove. There are lots of things I don't want to use ...eyelets, chipboard, even Primas to an extent. But none of that bother's me on other peoples projects.

I currently am addicted to twine and buttons. I hope that addiction last awhile since I've spent a small fortune on them LOL

Yeah - my extensive stock of "my God, what were you thinking?????" paper that I have committed to using up - when will it ever end??

Owls - you can only make only so many cards before you are all "hooted" out!

My husband saying "didn't you just buy stuff last week? What is that and why do you need it?"

My list of "over it" is very long:
owls
pennants
doilies
Asian and Russian doll sets
elements that you stamp individually to make flowers or snowflakes
circles/dots
hot air balloons
birdcages
I will stop now. I tend to not like the stuff that every stamp/paper company brings out at the same time (this year is seems like pennants).

Chandeliers. That's about it as all the other trends don't bother me, but I'm starting to get really sick of chandeliers.

Great question, Diane!

I think all design elements can be interesting until they become a fad and are everywhere. If you love it, I guess it's a good thing. I never get tired of leaves or snowflakes and I don't even know why, I am always attracted to them. I'm a little tired of birds and I don't like the pennants, but I love the doilies & sewing theme!

I am tired of eyelets; wallpaper books; stamping magazines (who needs them with so many great ideas on the internet?); collage materials; and I am 'almost' tired of ribbon! Paper Doll

Some of these are making me cry. I love Butterflies, Owls, & Russian Nesting Dolls. I look forward to RubberStampMadness with glee. You girls are killing me, lol. I have one that is controversial. I am tired of Copics! There you go! I am sure some girls and guys are glaring at my post now or crying.

I would have to say:

cupcakes
birdcages
hot air balloons
owls
chandaliers

I was guilty of overusing most of them besides the chandaliers. I just never got into those for some reason.

Add me to cupcake and owl bandwagon. I have only a couple stamps of each at most, but have no desire to use them because I'm SO tired of seeing them!

Owls
Birdcages
Birds
Grunge
Circles
Flashy DSP

I like the cupcakes, though there is a little too much of them right now. But they don't make my list.

I'm so over the "trend" trend. One company makes a cute (owl, hot air balloon, etc.) stamp and all the other companies jump on the bandwagon making their own version of (owl, hot air balloon, etc.). We get overwhelmed and tired of seeing so many different versions of one image and then move on.

I don't have a great deal of time to stamp so I buy these "trendy" stamps and then don't get around to using them until they're no longer fashionable!

I am still loving birds and bird cages. Still love butterflies. Still love vintage and CAS. I am a bit tired of some of the digis- where the drawing isn't all that great. Don't really care for cards that use purchased chipboard type things and have no stamping. But, I did make some of those last year when I broke my arm and couldn't stamp. Overall, I don't think there is anything that I am sick of seeing.

big gaudy flowers

I don't think there are too many cupcake stamps, but then any food stamp, just like any food is fine with me.

I love most, if not all, the things listed.

I don't know that I'm "over" any particular trend or theme. If I don't like it, I don't buy it, though there are some things I bought that I really don't use.

If I have it, I'll try to use it and if I can't, I'll donate it, repurpose it, or try to sell it.

There are trends I've never taken to at all - eg. sewing on a card. And I can't fathom the digi trend at all - to me, it shouldn't be called a digi-stamp as it bears no relation to stamping whatsoever.

But in terms of what I've bought, I wish I hadn't spent so much money on designer paper. I have a big stash and feel stressed sometimes trying to use it up.

Butterflies, on the other hand, I still love, use, and buy! Great thread, Diane! It's interesting how different we all are.

Like a previous poster said, I'm not a trendy person. So by the time I use something that was once trendy, it isn't anymore. I think that when we look at so many cards, scrapbook pages, company sites, magazines, and blogs, we get "product overload." I could ditto most of the things on everyone's list, adding baker's twine. That being said, I will still use the things I like, whether they are in, out, or somewhere in between. Oh, and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE butterflies. I will never tire of those.

Well, I can agree with lots of what's being said -- PLEASE, no more pennants, cupcakes, chandeliers, doilies and fabric for stamping. That last one really amazes me. Am afraid I got on the owl parade too late. I bought SU's owl punch last year and have yet to take it out of it's cage!!!!! I still think I may use it for some halloween things.

I hear you on the Copics. It's just not worth all that money yet it seems like EVERYONE uses them and feels the need to include them in their pics.... Or maybe it's just jealousy talking?

I am so over one trend that is actually still "current" or very early in it's trendiness - steampunk. And I'm not even getting on that train, let alone wait at the station....that is a style that doesn't appeal to me AT ALL - but to each their own. Butterflies however - love them!

I must not up to date on things, when I find something and love it, it is already yesterdays news. Oh well.

I think it is funny about the owls. I don't like owls, but I did just buy some owl paper the other day to make some cards with an owl from my Cricut. I send lots of cards to our service men and women and I hope they like them.

The prior owner of my house left all her decorations. I had a lot of owls to get rid of when I moved in.

I don't know if I get sick of a "trend" per say, there are just some images and styles that appeal to me, and some that don't and never will.

I wonder if there is an "official" group that studies and predicts the upcoming trends in paper crafting/stamping? I know in fashion and interior design there are groups out there that put out the predictions for upcoming "hot" colors and fabrics etc...and then paint companies, furniture and fashion designs read these trade publications and work from there deciding on their new collections or whatever.

I am just wondering if there is something similar for our hobby industry and that is why we end up seeing all the stamp companies coming out with similar designs so close together. I mean, it takes a while to design and put a stamp line into production, so it's not like they can all just wait and copy off of whoever has new successful releases first KWIM?

DITTO on the cutesy kids/animals with huge heads/small bodies.
Damask
Gigantic ribbon bows that overshadow the focal image (or, is that bow the focal image???)
Non-individuality of the current "hot" stamp companies that all jump on the same trend bandwagon.

I completely agree with your entire post.

Other trends I don't like are skulls, the children with big heads and no mouths, and ribbons with printed designs on them like polka dots or tiny animals, hearts or snowflakes.

It's been very interesting to read the responses!

I can't really think of anything to mention, because there is always someone out there doing something fun and different with _____ image. This is what I enjoy about SCS and stamping in general...seeing the variety of ways to use the different stamps/products. It may not be something I will do or try, but I appreciate it nonetheless!
