are you picky about how you look through the gallery?
I have a certain "way" I must look thorugh the gallery here.
first - I hate getting that glimpse of the newest cards on the homepage, it spoils the surprise for me lOL
second - I will not peek at the gallery unless I have time sit and reply to all of the cards I like that have been posted since the last time I visited the gallery
third - I like to save up about 2 days worth of gallery and go through them in one big sitting. It builds up antipation for me lol
Anyone else have any weird gallery viewing habits or is it just me?
The first thing I do is change the order to "Latest." I don't want to be influenced by what others have looked at recently or what's been looked at the most. I love clicking on things that don't look all that interesting and that everyone else is skipping over and finding out that up close it's WONDERFUL! It's like I've found a secret treasure.

Im the same way... I like to look at the ones that dont have a lot of comments first, that way they get my attention first in case I need to go do something else
Wow, you all have a system... I'm impressed. Me... I just wander around aimlessly looking at anything that strikes my eye! Seriously... sometimes I'm on here seems like hours just exploring usually the recently uploaded stuff and then I check out the gallery under stamp set names to look for ideas and inspiration. Then I check recent stuff again (just in case... I don't want miss something cool uploaded!)
Looking at the gallery is bleeding over into my life. I found myself in the elevator today saying to a total stranger, "Wow, that's a really pretty necklace, and I love the way it goes with your blouse!" I've been programed.

LOL!!!!!!
I first change the setting to "Latest". I usually look several times a day.
I too change the settings to the latest, and go through every page for the 1 day setting . I do that several times a day as not to miss anything.
I also if I have time usually late, late in the evening, go to the member galleries and have been going through them alphabetically, for the last few months. Eventually I will finish that task, and then I will have to start over cause of all the new members we have . There really is alot of great ones to be found by doing that.

 Wow! That could take you forever! I don't think I'd have the stamina for that!
I always look at the latest cards first (I check at least twice a day), and, if a card catches my eye, I'll go look at the poster's gallery to see what else they've done. If I miss a day, it's almost too much to take in!

I go to the gallery for specific ideas - so I look by stamp set (didn't we used to have a gallery for the current mini catalog?) Then I sort by most popular or by most views. Most views gets me the most interesting cards - the more elaborate. Highest rating gets me the most demonstratable cards - simpler but with wow factor included.
I come onto the site about 5 times a month, so I'm still getting used to the new sorting features (they're good- I just gotta get used to it). I do miss not being able to go see cards for the current minicatalog though.....sigh.

i must post to all the ones i look at. i must finish the whole gallery before moving on to the next person's gallery. i do the galleries by "person" not by stamp set or other category other than the ddd!!! i also set the page to 24.
lastel, sounds like you and i have the same goal: to post to all the uploads. ;) i think it will take me forever!!! but that's ok, gotta keep my scs obsession well oiled!!!

oh, and DAVEn if youre reading this: please have some type of indication on the "picture description" part that shows you've already posted a comment, like the little icon on the forums threads. other than that, i really like the new-looking gallery!!! (actually that was going to be a suggestion of mine for the old gallery too!)
Random Gallery Gal here! I just go thru it mish mosh and if something really catches my eye, I'll go thru that member's whole gallery leaving comments through-out.

This is me, too! Maybe I should develop a system? Hmmmm, I'll have to think about this.

The first thing I do is set the page to 24. Then I kind of go randomly cause I'll see a card I like then go to that gallery & so on & so on so I never stay where I start out at.
I usually am over there at least 2 or 3 times a day. Guess that is why I have a huge "favorites" & not much in my own gallery....to busy looking instead of stamping

How do you change all these settings that you guys are talking about? When I go to the gallery, I can only see 6 new cards, I think, and I don't know how to look at ALL the cards posted today. Please help!
You have some good goals there. For me everything is related to time management. I want time to work on projects, not just look at them. LOL. I'm open to any clues of how to better do that.

I go to the SCS home page and scroll down to todays gallery additions and view them. I don't know about changing a setting to the latest, it is already that way for me always the most currently added card is the first card. I do make sure I have the most cards per page, that is 96 for me. I have that set as a default (it is in the upper top right corner of the page.) it is an arrow you click for a choice.
Is it insane that I started to look at the gallery, freaked out at all the options, tiptoed back out, and am now hovering at the threshold passing others ahead of me... "Oh, no, you go. I'm just waiting for someone, go ahead. Oh, please go ahead..."
Oh, my! What a trip down memory lane! Haven't seen some of those posters in ages!
Chautona, try not to be intimidated, lol! First, acknowledge to yourself that you will NEVER get through all of the gallery. It's simply too big now. Back when this thread was started, the gallery was incredibly smaller, with daily uploads closer to 100 rather than over a thousand. So don't feel bad if you can't emulate some of these other posters' gallery achievements...
When I have time, I generally start one of two searches. The first is just by most recent. I generally click Last 7 Days, but more out of habit than anything else. I couldn't even get through the last 1 day!
The other way is to just pick a limited search, usually Stampin' Up projects. The bulk of my stamps are SU, and I stand a better chance of having some of the stamps shown in the projects.
However you do it, don't worry about "missing" something. That's just a given, lol! Just enjoy what you can. And welcome to SCS! Pretty soon you'll be the oldtimer giving advice and assurances to newer members.

What a fun thread! I just go to the gallery all willy-nilly.......never know where I'll end up. When I participate in Secret Sister type swaps I like to go to my assigned sisters gallery to see what their style might be but that's the only time I actually have a plan.
I didn't know there was any setting other than latest! That's the one I use when it's not a challenge gallery that I am viewing.
But if we're listening to an audio book in bed, then I open up a gallery for an SU set and run a slideshow. Only problem is then there are always cards I want to comment on or favourite, so I have to stop the slideshow.
As for viewing all the cards since I last look - I admire you!! No way could I find the time for that - if I get through two or three pages I feel I deserve a pat on the back.
