My best advice is to take a friend or family member along for support. That way you will have fun and not worry about how much your selling. My set up tips are- Bring a LARGE table cloth and put boxes under it so you can have different levels to display your items. You may also want to bring some props that match your theme. For example if your theme is spring/Easter cards you may want to bring some chocolate rabbits, Easter baskets, or spring flowers to make your display more interesting. Good Luck!

Default craft fair

Good for you..and remember to have fun!
It all depends on what you are making. "cheap" stuff seems to go faster, so I make more of that...larger items I make 1 or 2 of each. I am doing a fair on feb 6th (usually just do holiday ones) I have made 30 pencil sets for valentines, 30 sour cream wrappers with cherry cordial kisses inside, 15 vday cards, 20 easter pencil sets, 10 acrylic post it note holders in different sizes, 15 post it books, 40 ish gift card holders for all occasions....etc etc. still working on stuff'
I figure I will just keep making stuff til I can't anymore, then use the left overs for christmas..then I have a head start (except for the vday and easter stuff but that can be used for gifts and tips etc too)
need to make some mothers day and fathers day stuff too.
Do what you can but dont drive yourself crazy..and talk to everyone about what you do, I had a craft fair for 7 hours, made $22.00...but I started talking to the gal across the isle who sold nothing (about 60 people the whole day) and now she is one of my hostesss club gals and has 6 sisters..you never know who you will meet, have 3 new great customers who were shoppers at the craft fair. if you do classes etc, have info on that too

Craft fairs are a lot of work - and a lot of fun! Get yourself a cup of coffee and settle in and read this monster size thread in the Techniques forum. It's been going for a couple of years, and has tons and tons of info. There are current pages at the end, but don't skip the early pages. It's all good.

I learned so much from it when I did my first craft fairs this year.

I did my first craft fair at my son's school this past December. It was a lot of fun, but yes, a lot of work! I didn't know what to expect either, and it is a little bit difficult to figure out how much to make of what. I do agree with w/tootsieroll, I used a queen size bedsheet as my table cover, and placed various sized boxes underneath to give the table some dimension (tip: the post office has various sized boxes for free!). I placed my items on the boxes and on the table itself.

I made cards as well, along with chocolate boxes (about 2 dozen), sour cream containers with hershey kisses (about 3 dozen), bookmarks (around 4 dozen; they were 0.50 for the kids), and post-it note holders (also around 2 dozen). The thread above is wonderful; but there are so many great ideas, it's hard to get carried away with wanting to do it all! (At least I did!) =)

Some tips: I would label everything clearly with what things are and their prices. I feel packaging is everything, so placing items in plastic bags with tags when possible is a great marketing tool. I also bought white paper bags (or lunch sacks) to put purchases in, and placed a sticker as a closure that said "Thank you" and added my contact information.

Good luck to you, it really was a fun experience for me; I wish you well!

Michelle
