I know what you mean! I want the painted poinsettias, all the jumbo wheels and the set that matches them, the bug halloween one, and the truck! But, I'm hoping that my mom will love at least the truck, then I won't have to buy everything on my wish list!
I got Holiday Happiness, the swirl wheel and the coordinating set that goes with all the big wheels in the back of the mini catalog. AND the wrapping paper!
OMG, these wheels and that coordinating stamp set is AWESOME.
I am doing my Christmas cards with Baroque Burgundy, COPPER and vanilla. Yum.
If you really purchase that much Stampin' Up! stuff yourself - don't worry about the saturation factor. I am here in Wisconsin - if I read things right - about every 5th person I meet is in Stampin' Up!. But, I am a hobby demo - only sell to family and friends and 2 women at work & no problem making the $300 quarterly minimum. I look at all I have learned and all I have saved by getting the demo discount & count myself lucky.
I just put a photo of brushed copper embossed with copper in my gallery... I would post it right here, but don't know how (anyone want to help me learn that?)
I'll get another picture of the Christmas card and let you know when it's in the gallery. I absolutely LOVE Copper!
Ah, my dear Kate... "ASK" hubby for more money? I do wish we lived closer. I could certainly teach you a trick or two! LOL
OK, here are some things I am doing to avoid "asking" for more. I spent a ton on my first order as a hobby demo because I "RATIONALIZED" the savings of the $25 if you spent $350 or more (rationalization point number one). Of course that wasn't really $350 with the demo discount (rationalization point number two). Then of course he spent $110 on a pair of sunglasses, above the $50 we agreed upon for our anniversary. My total just climbed higher (rationalization point number three). Oh, and because I needed to spend a certain amount each month to meet my minimum, I wouldn't need to buy anything else for at least three months (he doesn't know that we don't need to meet the minimum the first quarter!)... (rationalization point number four). And of course the extra 10% discount on the first workshop order as a new demo was...rationalization point number five.
Now that I have used the above ploy, I am going to have to come up with something clever because we all KNOW that no one can go three months without buying SU! products!
Here is something working in my mind... "Oh, Honey, I had to w/d some money from the ATM for school lunches. Of course it will be peanut butter and saltines, cheese slices, and dried spaghetti in the lunch boxes! LOL Just kidding of course. How can I pull out cash and pay SU!? I'll have to work on that one!
I hope this gets you started in your devious, sneaky, evil SU! gotta haves quest!

Ok ~ here's how I rationalize....
1. I don't drink beer, he does. $40 week ~ minimum (hey! $40 of SU for me!)
2. He likes power tools that always have 3 digits behind the $$ sign and before the.00 sign. (Woohoo! Triple digit order of SU for me)
3. We don't go out for dinner, or movies...$25 more of SU for me...
DH keeps asking what I'll order when I have everything. He doesn't understand the concept of "MINI CATALOG" and apparently has no clue of the definition of the word "EMBELLISHMENT". If he only knew how much I could spend on that...well, some things are just better left unsaid, knowwhatImean??

I signed up about three years ago...he did give me money for the starter kit...and from then on..i've learned some tricks of the trade! My hubby loves computers and expensive computer games...so...

Sweetie, then you will need stuff for your 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc. You see, with stamps, it is a consumable business. Translates into need more! lol
My dh just says that I have been suckered into this whole thing. He says that they have you when they retire 100 sets and then put out a new catty. Ya gotta have the new sets and then there is the paper and ink. Well, DUH! So...? :P

I guess I'm really lucky in a sense. I love the "what's yours is mine and what's mine is mine" philosophy LOL. However, my husband rarely objects to when I say I need (note: NEED) to place an order. Now, I don't have $1,000 at a time or a charge card to put things on, but when there's something I have to have, my workshops usually pay for it anyway.
Part CASH!, Part CHECK and occasionally a bit on VISA!
A friend of mine is now into stamping and that was what she told my Demo when she placed her first order - her FIRST order was over $100!!!!
Can we stay thank you for coming this evening???!!!!
I now use this payment plan - ALOT! I'm nuts but it WORKS! I honestly don't know if my Hub has a CLUE what I spend on SU - not to mention dollar store, Michaels etc!!!!!!
OH ladies - BTW - was doing wash and found TWENTY dollars - will I tell - NOPE - into the "Secret Envelope" for my "SU EMERGENCY" fund!!!!!
I have been able to sneak non-SU stuff into the weekly shopping. Like swirl paper clips at Wal-Mart or mono adhesive from Meijer.
I always talk to him about the stamp sets that I want and show him how excited I am. He thinks it is worth it then.
Plus my birthday is in October. I have really been throwing the September 6 around for an idea for my birthday. I want two sets from there. He keeps telling me he is going to get to know my demo real well between birthday and Christmas presents.
And we have only been married 3 1/2 months! I couldn't ask for a better hubby!

Don't take this for granted!!! You work on him, girl and NOW!! You are in a postion of strength. Set the ground rules right now! Get him trained well, so you won't have any trouble when it's 30&1/2 YEARS!!
I do remind him my stamps and such are alot cheaper than the tons of car parts he orders to make his sports car faster! Exactly how fast does one need to drive? We always have this discussion.
