Default Wording for shower invite..........

My husbands neice is getting married and her sister insists on throwing her a Double Greenback shower.........I know this was all the rage 30 something years ago BUT I cannot for some reason figure out the wording for the incvite ........of course it is basic wording for the invitation itself BUT I need help with stating it is $$$$ shower - no "gifts" ie - they are not registering anywhere for people to purchase items............

anyone??? ideas????? please......................

Google it...I found lots of interesting forums about this, as I had never heard of this before. Similar to a 'money tree' type thing.

I had to look up what a Greenback shower was. I have never heard of this before. Maybe someone she knows has had one and has sent out an invitation with wording that you could tweak? I would have a hard time asking for money, but that is me. I thought those type of things were handled "word of mouth" when asked what to bring (if they aren't registered for gifts, people may ask what they want or need and it could be mentioned...) Does the sister have any ideas how she wants the invite to be worded? Wish I could be of help, just can't think of a way to phrase it.

Nope - they have no clue what they are doing - I tried to talk them out of having it - it is RUDE and TACKY to do it..............I research for more than 6 hours on it and couldn't come up with anything so I tossed the ball back into their court and told them to decide on how they want it worded and they want it to state that it is a
"Double Greenback Shower" .I already know of at least 20 or more people on the invitation list who have alread stated they will not be attending - including me and my husband - I already have her shower gifts made and am not changing my mind - I will give them to her another time..............I also am making all her wedding invitations and that is her wedding gift!

From everything I've read, it's tacky to ask for money like that. However, there is a lengthy thread on this wedding board, with some suggestions if they still want to do it. (They should be aware, however, that some people may be ticked off or find it rude.)

What a lovely wedding gift to do her invitations. I would give what I bought as well for the shower. Things like this cause unnecessary stress. All the best.
