Trying to decide if I need these (silly me, lol). What is the difference between these and the Sakura Gelly Roll clear glitter pens, other than the brush tip?

I have both but I find myself reaching for my Wink of Stella more often I like the way the brush feels and the way the sparkle spreads around a little more.
I also in addition to the wink of stella brushes ( these are fat barrel like a make up wand type brush pen) use the crafters companion ones that are spectrum noir sparkle pens. ( these are nearly the same as the wink of stella brushes as you have to unscrew them and take out that spacer to assemble the pen. these you can do washes of glitter color over a big space easily. so, I use mine for different things.
the gellyroll pens are like regular ball tipped pens and you can just use them straight out of the package. for like outlining something.
I have and like and use them both for different reasons. I get smooth coverage with Stella for anything that is not a small area. I get good results with Sakura for small areas but end up with a sketchy look if i use Sakura on anything other than small areas.

Boy, that was fast! I can see I need these. Seems like there's a lot of love for these here on this forum. I'll start with the clear as suggested. Thank you so much!
Michaels in Canada just started carrying the Wink of Stella pens, so I caved (with a 50% coupon). I got the clear one to start - it's so gorgeous I want to sparkle everything !
I agree with everyone that uses them for different reasons. Before the Wink of Stella, I would use the gel pens to add glitter but you could see the scribble lines. The brush gives smoother coverage. I find I use the clear most and didn't really use the colored ones. I just color with another medium then use the clear. I just bought a couple of the colored ones and didn't like the way I lost the detail of the image so just use my clear for everything.
I have a clear one that I use all the time, so I bought a gold one. Don't like it as much. The clear gives the perfect amount of sparkle and goes over any color. I don't see the point of the colored ones. For me, at least.

I use the gold for the inside beads of a poinsettia stamped image, or jingle bells, which would be gold anyway (in my mind). The clear works on all colors for a hint of glimmer. I bought 2 extra clear ones, just in case I have a wink of stella emergency with my Christmas tags and cards!!!
I have used both. I like the Gelly Roll for detailed glittering as in outlining or flower centers. I think its glitter is a bit more distinct too. I like the WOS for more subtle highlights and for sure if I am going over a larger area.
After following this thread, I picked up a Wink of Stella pen when I was at Michael's today (with coupon). Not too happy -- The package and the pen itself definitely says Clear. But the color is definitely Gold when applied. Even after drying -- Gold. I wanted Clear -- what gives?
Bring it back. Must be a packaging error. Clear is clear. No gold in it. Just sparkle.

Stampin'Up! just started carrying the Wink of Stella in clear and gold. I love the gold for tiny accents; i.e., flower centers, splatters. I LOVE the clear WOS! And I love the way it leaves no grainy-ness on your card - just the sparkle.
I'm another one that wants to clear WOS on everything, like Iriseyes said.

I use the clear all the time. I've used the silver on a Christmas lantern and liked the results. You have to be careful with the colored ones not to put on the color too heavily or you'll lose the image detail. But used sparingly, the results were good for me.
I have the clear Wink of Stella pen and use it once in a while. It is a really subtle sparkle, and if you like more glitz you need the Gelly Roll pen or even Stickles. It is nice if you want to emphasize larger areas.

Well, I got my WoS pens. I ordered the clear as recommended by many of you as well as a landscape group. I love the clear. The colored ones, not so much. I think I'd like them better if they were a bit more subtle. But that clear one...I just love it! Thanks for the tips!
Believe it was Jennifer McGuire that said when your Wink of Stella seems to be done that there is plenty of glimmer left. You can take the top off add some water and it is good as new. I tried this am am getting so many more miles out of my pen. Happy with Wink of Stella. Also have the Gelly Roll but it is more limited.

Definitely a clear WOS fan here!! I have the white and the silver but never seem to go for them.

I have them all and I do like the colored ones. I love using them on white stamped flowers. I just avoid the black outlines. I really love the sparkle!
