Default Who uses a palm pilot for their business?

Who uses a palm pilot for their SU business? I have the SU planner and my calendar pages are so cluttered with family events, SU events, dr's appts, soccer games, etc that I'm embarassed to show customers my calendar when they book a workshop. I was at a jewelery party and booked my own party and the demonstrator just whipped out her palm pilot and we were hooked up with a party date lickity split. Would love any comments regarding paper calendar vs. palm pilot

I don't use a palm pilot but having a full calendar is GOOD. Makes you look busy and in demand. "Better book now, my calendar is filling up" Doesn't matter if your calendar is filling up with personal or business.

I just ordered the palm pilot that was on Great Rewards this past year (today is the last day to redeem your points, BTW). I'm really hopeless at using any kind of organizer and I'm hoping this one, which is small and portable, will be the answer. I like the organizer that we we able to buy last year, but it's pretty big and I can't just slip it in my purse like a Palm. I had one of those Royal organizers and hardly used it, but since you had to type everything in on a tiny keyboard, I had a hard time using it. With a palm you can just write things in and use the stylus to make selections just like a mouse, so I think it will be a big help.

I use my Palm for everything! All my different schedules, my husband's schedule and my daughter's are all in the same place. It is small and fits into my purse easily. I love it! I also keep a calendar (SU! of course) on the refrigerator with general info for all as a back up.

I use mine for everything as well.

I have a running list of my 'needs' from SU as well as my supply SU needs as well. Along with lists for Walmart, local craft store, book store, and so on.

I also list inventories, from my SU wheels, my cake frosting dyes, to my quilling papers.

It is great for reoccuring events, such as birthdays (and the date a week in advance to mail out the card!), anniversaries, etc.

You can sync it with your hard drive, so all data is backed up and saved.

I could rave all day about the benefits of using a palm pilot.

My life would be much more difficult without one. HTH!

Thanks for asking this question and thanks for your honest answers.

I, too, am contemplating buying a Palm Pilot or some such critter. I feel the same about the SU! organizer that JanTInk does:

but it's pretty big and I can't just slip it in my purse like a Palm
. I bought that organizer thinking it might be easier to use than my FLYLady control journal. But it's not!! I even compromised on the control journal - it's the smallest all-inclusive day-timer I could find and IT'S STILL TOO BIG. I detest carrying purses so I use a "fanny pack" or "waist-bag" which ever you call it. I think the only thing that's going to fit in the fanny pack along with my wallet and keys is a palm pilot. AND being able to download/upload from/to the computer will be a BIG, BIG plus for me!!!!!

I just got a palm pilot and I am so in love.. mine is the zire 31 which is in color! I can color code everything on my calendar! This is great because my oldest daughter has many dr appts to keep track of..

I can set alarms to remind me to do stuff.. I put all my contacts in there.. and its small and easy to carry around.

I hauled my SU planner everywhere even though it was kinda bulky and I knew that getting this would save so much time and space. Its fabulous. Plus I NEVER have to get page refills.

I really recommend it.

I forgot to rave about beaming.

You can beam any piece of info from your palm to another user.

I did this at the salon - selected my SU business card data & beamed it to another user. Very cool & time savings & no pen!

I also beamed my DH & my doctor info to my DH's palm. No re-entering info.

I have gone back and forth on this issue too. So far have just been using the SU planner, but I never take it along to doc. appts, etc because of the size, so I always have to mark things in when I get home. I like having only one calender so that I don't forget to write things in--thus the SU planner instead of a seperate cal. for work vs family, but would like to go with a Palm because of the size and portabilty. So here is my question for those of you who have one:

I like to see my whole week at a glance (easily--without too many steps) so I know what's going on. Is this easy too do with a palm, or am I better off with my SU organizer?

I have a Zire 71 and use a souped-up calendar program called Datebook+. It has several ways to view my calendar info including a very easy to read weekly view. I have used a Palm for about 5 years now - I replaced my fancy Daytimer system with it and have never looked back.

I use it for absolutely all appointments, reminders, and address/phone info. I have my Flylady control journal in it, wish lists, phone numbers, birthday/anniv reminders. I truly never leave home without it. I love knowing that all of my info is backed up on our home computer.

Ok, so I am mostly computer literate, but not like these "young folks these days" (that makes me feel old to say that--I am "only" 34). So how easy is it to use, to program and to back up?

to me I think its pretty easy, but then I am on the computer all the time.

As far as backing up all you have to do is connect it to your computer and click a special icon and it does everything for you.

The instruction manual to get started is really easy to follow I thought.. and I have a help section right in my palm if I forget what I am doing.

For the calendar question.. I can see a whole month, a week, a day, or a day update page.. whatever I want... and i like I said I have my calendar color coded.. ex all my SU stuff is in yellow so I know exactly what the appt on that day is for!

I have a handspring Treo 90 and I love it! I've had it about three years, and I couldn't live without it! I love that it's fully rechargable (I haven't had to buy a new battery yet!)and there's a keyboard on it. I have little fingers, so I can just fly on that keyboard! I enter alot of information on my computer, and then just upload it to the Treo. I have a program that let me upload photos to the Treo too, admittedly they aren't the highest quality, but I can easily share ideas with customers with it! Oh, and I play alot of games on it too! (shh, that's our secret!)
