I looked at the office store & they only had the Ink Jet type you could buy & they seemed really expensive. When I was a teacher (back in the stone age before computers were popular), we could buy the kind you write on. Do they still make those? I don't remember them being so expensive. Has anyone used report covers or page protectors for clear sheets?
I just bought a box of 100 from Viking. After I entered the code of AL2, they came up for $13.99 - - they started at $28!! That's a mere 14 cents per sheet.
I have found them at Walmart in the office section. They aren't really cheap but I think that I got a package of 10 sheets for I think around $7.00. They are made by Hammermill. Hope this helps!

Go check out Office Depot. I got a box of 60 (regularly 50, but it was a bonus pack) of their Office Depot brand Write On Transparencies. The item # is 753-621 I think it was less than $10. I don't notice a difference between SU kind and this kind.

I purchased the Office Depot brand, box of 60 for 7.99. They work fine. The other brands were much more expensive.

I was just shopping for transparencies today... The guy at Walmart said they don't carry them. I wondered if he didn't have a clue what they were, though.
I had also checked at Office Depot. It was going to be $37 for 50 that can go through an ink jet printer. I was hoping to find them cheaper elsewhere.
Can you use non-ink jet ones in an inkjet printer? I have really old ones that probably can't even be used in a copier, so I'm guessing those are definitely a no-go.
I also got the Office Depot write on Transparencies for 7.99 for a box of 60. They work perfectly. And you can't beat the price. They kind of hide them though. They were on the bottom down in the corner of the display wall. I almost missed them.

I don't use them in my printer. I'm going to use them for shaker cards and projects that call for acetate.

hi ladies--
write on transparencies are different than transparencies that go through the copier or the printer--each one is made differently, so no, you can't use ink jet printer transparencies for anything else! I'm a teacher, and when the school district runs out, we have to go out and buy them, and we learned the hard way they are not interchangeable--they will melt and crinkle!
most school districts I know don't use the write on anymore, we are supposed to make everything at least 18 font and clear so it can be seen
from the back of the room--also, you can write on the transparencies that go through the copier, but they are much harder to erase, even if you use erasable markers.
You can use sharpies to write on the write on transparenices, and correct mistakes with rubbing alcohol.
wow, am I geek--who knew I knew this much about transparencies

Call me a geek too 'cuz I'm going to add my 2 cents! You can use regular transparencies for stuff like shaker cards, etc (and yes, page protectors work just fine....I will often use them since I have a ton and save my transparencies for my campers) anyhoo, but if you are going to do any embossing on them (or for any other reason use them with a heat gun) you MUST get the heat resistant kind otherwise you will have a stinky globby mess!
Happy stamping!
