Just got my order...in a "kind of" padded envelope!!!!It was hardly sealed at all and one of my punches were missing...are they trying to save on S/H?? Punches are really easy to break...my husband deals with UPS on a daily basis and they are NOT KIND to packages!! This sucks....
I have received something in a padded envelope before but for the life of me I can not remember what it was! It was flat tho so it arrived just fine.
Hope you get a replacement soon.

I'll pay extra...I want a BOX....if it was just a stamp set...no problem....I get those in padded envelopes all the time from different companies...but these little tiny punches are easy to break....and the envelope wasn't sealed properly....there was a slight tear in the front of the envelope.....I want a box!
I have been a demo for 4 years and have NEVER recieved and envelope! I am anticipating one this week in the post as I know it only contains a 1 inch piece of rubber. I get the smallest thing in a box.

I just got the stamp set I got for my SAB sales and it was in an envelope. I don't really mind that. I once got an ink refil (thats all, nothing else) in a box. I thought that was kind of strange.
I got a backordered punch in an envelope. It was padded but beat all to hell. The punch was okay, tho. I would definitely complain if the punch is broken upon arrival.
I got my March order today. The box was huge! I had a scratching-my-head moment, trying to remember what I ordered -- I didn't think it was that much. And it wasn't -- I got several rolls of ribbon, a SS kit, one stamp set, two packages of designer paper, embossing powder and a craft keeper. The majority of the box was filled with brown paper! Really makes you wonder what they're thinking...

i got my slit punch in a padded envelope..it orginally came in a box with a larger order..i had to send it back though because it kept sticking..anyways..they sent the replacement in a padded envelope..but it arrived fine. sorry to hear about you missing punch and damaged envelope!
When I was a demo I would often get error orders or replacements in an envelope but nothing was ever damaged or missing....best of luck getting it all worked out!
I toured the distribution center when I went to Convention. The reason most orders are in boxes is because the box is what moves through the conveyor system to pick up all the products. Padded envelopes don't travel through the system so when the box gets to the end of the line, the worker(s) whose job it is to seal up the box may or may not catch that it should be transfered to an envelope. I'm sure when there is a high order demand and they just want to be able to keep up, they tend to just leave items in the boxes because it's faster. Keep in mind that the costs of shipping to businesses with volume as high as SU!'s are much less than what you or I would pay by going to UPS. I'm sorry your punch was damaged. SU! will make it right.
I am a demo and have been getting smaller orders in envelopes. I don't really care as long as the items arrive fine. But one time I got 3 stamp sets and a roll of ribbon in an envelope. Well, 2 of the stamp boxes were a little bit dented. Wasn't too happy about that, I should have called them, but then again, it was just the storage containers...

Punch wasn't damaged it was missing...the envelope wasn't even sealed. There was also a hole in the envelope...and I understand their S/H costs...my husband has a business and deals woth Ups and the P.O. on a daily basis. Don't charge me what it cost to mail a box if you are going to send it in an envelope...I feel sure it is all about the costs!!! However...if its a stamp set...or something that is not easily broke...fine. But these little punches are delicate! Anyhow...the one I got was not broke...but the one I wanted MOST of all(my ticket punch) was not there at all...if it would've been in a box I bet it would have been there. The envelope was hardly sealed at all.I stopped being a demo back in Sept. and this the first time I've ordered SU since then...I'm not impressed! I know someone is gonna get mad at me,because of all of the SU fans and groupies here on this site...but...Oh Well.....

Don't you think the postage would be cheaper on envelopes? I'm guessing we still have to pay the same in a box or envelope...If we are paying the same then I'd rather have a box.

People complain when small things come in large boxes and people complain when they pay for a box and get an envelope. Not everyone will be happy.
BUT....everyone deserves the right to get what they ordered in new condition. SU! will make this right once a call is made. I've never had anything unresolved.

I've never complained about getting a box...I want my stuff in good condition. And we are still paying box shipping prices for envelopes
FYI...I just received my order last week, and my ticket corner punch is on back order. Check your packing slip and see if there is a "B" on the line. I was freaking out when I couldn't find it, and I looked and there was only a "B" to tell me that it was backordered. It wasn't exactly clear, especially since I am not a demo and not used to the ordering procedures. That is possibly what happened...
SU sometimes ships small items in padded envelopes but for me it's always been replacment items like a single replacement stamp or something small that's backordered. We demos received a free set for Christmas and that came in a padded envelope.

WOW!! There is a "B" at the beginning of the line...why didn't my demo know this or why didn't SU inclose an explanation????? Thanks for telling me that...now I'm even more pissed!
This is explained at the bottom of your shipping form. Maybe your demo didn't now it was backordered. Did you call her and ask?
Called her as she was headed to Fla. on vacation & she seemed more pissed off that it didn't come in a box than she was at the fact that I was missing something !
I did just see something on the back of the order but not the front! HOWEVER....one more time...I'm pissed about it being sent in an envelope and NOT a box!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
While I am sorry that you didn't get your punch because of it being on backorder, I am glad it isn't just missing!
But I am sorry you are even more upset....sending sunshine your way!! hugs
I just got a set in the mail from SU (my SAB redemption) and it was in a padded envie. Arrived in mint condition, and I understand using an envie for one stamp set instead of a box.
I would be a bit upset -- I pay 10% of my sale to pay for shipping and I certainly don't want to spend $15 on shipping to have them spend 5 of it to ship it to me!
The only time I have received things in an envelope is when the backordered item was sent. But like one set of stamps in their box or an ink pad, something like that, and never had a problem. Never a whole order of things.
I received my March order yesterday - in a box, a VERY LARGE BOX. The box was big enough to hold the entire Spring Catalog and more. Most of it was paper. Except for the large wheel (I ordered the March special) it could of been put in a much smaller box or a padded envelope and probably been ok. No wonder shipping is killing our purses!!
Yeah the ticket punch is on backorder until like the 26th. I placed an order last month and it was backordered but it just shipped Friday. Most likely arriving in a padded envelope so I will definitely inspect it for errors. With your demo out of town you may have better luck calling SU directly. Might get solved sooner that way. Hope everything gets resolved quickly for you.
My March order also came in a padded envelope via UPS...2 stamp sets and the large round tab punch and this was an original order not a replacement. I wasn't happy they sent the punch in a padded envelope cause I was afraid of damage but so far it seems to be working ok.
The envelope had small tears in it and you could see the back side had been slid across the floor from all the markings. I guess I'm lucky nothing is wrong with the punch.
I've even had a SU box show up all broken apart and half taped up...out of the 5 things I ordered only 3 showed up! My demo took care of getting me the replacements but I ended up calling and putting a complaint in with UPS cause it wasn't the first box that arrived damaged and to top that the UPS driver for our area showed up at my door, not with a package, but to ask me WHY I complained about him cause he thought we "got along" (I've never even talked with the man except once when he handed me the wrong package) I was so shocked I didn't know what to say and finally I said after he kept hounding me "I said all this to the head office ask them to explain it to you". My husband was furious and wanted to call them back but I made him let it go, it wasn't worth any more trouble.

Ok first of all I would have just stared like an idiot had my UPS guy showed up on my doorstep like that TOALLY NOT COOL!....but secondly and more importantly...why would the head office tell him about it? Like he was the one who abused your package???? Chances are it was loaded right onto his truck like that! yikes.!

Oh I gave the shortened version of what happened...the head corp were very nice and said they were sorry so many wrong orders (things for my neighbors being delivered to me) were coming and that the boxes I received were in such bad condition etc and they would look into it. 3 days before the UPS delivery man showed up to question me the Dispatcher for the local area office called me at 8am wanting to know what was going on, and I had to RE-explain everything to her and I kept asking her didn't your supervisor forward you the email and she gave me some excuse of the email being half cut off but she was able to recount everything I said and then gave me HER personal office number and I was to call HER next time I had a problem and not the head office...so my guess is she got her butt chewed and doesn't want the head office to know of any more problems at least that's my own opinion anyway. Then Mr UPS showed up at my door asking the same questions and using the same excuse of he didn't understand what they were talking about!
Sorry to get off topic a bit...didn't mean to highjack the thread
It is my understanding that UPS has recently increased their rates. Isn't it possible that SU! is sometimes using envelopes (which would be cheaper) to keep them them from having to raise their 10% shipping costs to something higher?
Your demo should have been able to see that the item was backorderd but we're all liable to overlook things sometimes.
I'm sorry you've had an unsatisfactory experience! It's certainly not alwasy like that!
Too bad your merchandise didn't come in good condition! I had a thing shipped to me in a padded envelope once; I think it was a block for one of my stamps. The original block that came with the set was chipped, so SU! sent me a new one.
I recently (within the last month) received 3 stamp sets, a set of stampin spots, and brads -- all of which were jammed into a padded envelope. Needless to say, all the plastic stamp cases were crushed. I did report my disatisfaction to SU and they replaced all the crushed cases. I am not a fan of the padded envelope.
While I am sorry that you didn't get your punch because of it being on backorder, I am glad it isn't just missing!

Thanks!!! Today is a new day and I'm mostly over it!!!! Too many other things to worry about!!!Its St. Patty's Day,so I'll go have a couple of green beers and forget about it!! But..one last thing..it sounds like SU is having to send out alot of replacement items for stuff getting damaged in padded envelopes!
I have been a demo for over 6 years and have received many things in a padded envelope over the years. I have never had a damaged item from SU but missing items from my boxes have happened a time or two. The good news is SU has never questioned anything I have called about....just sent new items and all were happy.
I once had SU send me the little technique booklet in a box, and the papers saying my ribbon was on backorder...thats it nothing else in their small BOX.....then my ribbon came to me in an envelope!!!!!!! Me and the demo laughed like crazy....

That's funny!!! Sad and stupid all at the same time!!!
