Default What's your go-to adhesive?

Help! I go through lots and lots of adhesive, and need to stock up on one that is user friendly--what do you use and recommend? I'm out of the old CM tape runner refills and down to using double-sided scotch tape at the moment just to finish a project! Thanks in advance for any advice you can give me.

My all time fav because it works for adhering layers and is also awesome for 3-D projects is Tombow Liquid Multi glue (white bottle, green caps). I've never had any issues with anything coming undone and a little goes a long way

My ATG gun with 3M red label (not gold) is my all time fav. I've tried other brands and had problems. My next is also Tombow (same as beaddict). It's excellent and you don't need a heavy application. For fast drying 3-D projects is Beacon's 3 in 1. It has strings like hot glue but it's great.

I have 3 that I use the most: pink ATG, Scor Tape and liquid adhesive. I rarely use the Tombow snail anymore.

I still use the Tombow snail adhesive when I have limited space, and my big ATG is too clunky. I also use Scor Tape to make stuff really stick, then pop dots. Use them all the time.

For cards, I use my ATG gun. I use it alot, so I buy the refills from Tape Depot on ebay (free shipping) for a great price, but it is not acid free. I have the pink gun that uses 1/4" tape.

For scrapbooking I LOVE the 3L Scrapbook Adhesive in red. Dispeneses little strips of adhesive. Hobby Lobby carries it and when it is 50% off, they are only $2.99 each.

I use my ATG alot. I also use Scrap Happy Sheer Glue - from The Rubber Cafe- alot, too. That liquid glue doesn't drink stiff but dries clear. I received a Xyron Mega Runner at a design team retreat and have been testing it out. It is smaller than the ATG gun but I have to say that the ATG is probably cheaper.

Oh yeah! For little gems and half pearls that don't stick really well, I tend to use Crystal Effects. For popped-up stuff, I use foam tape, this kind:
Foam Tape
...the 1/16 thick one.

I am so thankful for all these suggestions! For those of you who use the ATG gun, is it pretty heavy? I like the idea of being able to get such big refills, but I'm a little worried it might be hard on my wrist!

My advice with the atg is to find someone you know who has one and try it first. I've heard so much about how wonderful they are and was given one for my birthday last year. I find it difficult to use, but my mother has one and absolutely loves it. I think it is one of those things that you have to try before you buy to see if it is for you.
My go-to adhesives are plain old double-sided scotch tape and scor-tape.

Tombo Mono-Multi liquid with green top. Love this stuff. Then I use the good ol' ATG gun with the 3/M adhesive rolls. My next favorite to use are the goold clear glue dots the tiny ones.
I use a multitude of adhesives because this craft requires a different adhesive for different things.

I think I might be an adhesive 'ho.

I use my ATG when I'm at home. Love it! But it's big and clunky, so when I go to a crop, I use my CM tape runner. I also love 3M's tacky glue -- awesome stuff!! I use small and medium glue dots to stick on embellies. I use SU's pop dots - love them! I keep a repositional tape runner handy also, for when I am working out a scrapbook layout. And, last but not least, I love Crystal Effects for adhering stuff that the other adhesives won't adher.

It's not heavy for me, and I am a weakling, but I don't have arthritis or anything.

No, it's not heavy. I know it looks like it weighs a ton but it's very light. If you have a craft store near you that does framing they will let you hold the ATG gun and maybe even try it. There is a learning curve and it's not for everyone. I really like mine but I don't love it. I don't like how big it is. I like small tools when I work. That is really my only complaint. I wish it was small like the Glue Glider Pro that I love to pieces. The Glue Glider Pro's adhesive is expensive and doesn't last long.

My go to glue:

Quick Dry Aleene's Tacky Glue
ATG (I have learned to like it after I got better tape)
Beacon's 3-1
Silicone Glue for 3-D objects.
Double Sided Tape

I am an adhesive ho too, lol.

I use tombo tape runner for small pieces. ATG for larger pieces (only because I have difficulty using it on tiny pieces..All me...butterfingers..

I use a lot of Score tape (love it..strong!)

Crystal Effects gets added to embellishments to make sure they stay put.

Pop dots, and foam dots

I use different types of adhesive for different things, but my favorite dry adhesive is my ATG. I have small hands, and I don't find the ATG clumsy at all. It does take a little getting used to, but I have never regretted buying it. I only wish I had bought it years ago. My favorite liquid glue is Quick Dry Glue by Scotch. It is the BEST liquid glue I've ever used.

LOVE my ATGs! I have a red one and a pink one. I prefer the refills from Framing Supplies because I had problems with almost every roll when I did a bulk buy from Tape Depot.
3MATGTape

For tiny spaces my new fav is PLUS Glue Tape. For liquid glue I like ScraPerfect Best Glue Ever or Tombo Mono Multi in the green bottle.

AND glue dots in all sizes and dimensionals.

LOL I'm a ho too! I use everything, recently bought the ATG pink with 50% coupon - and like others have written it does take some getting used to. I do like it; foam dots; pop dots; glue dots; crystal effects; double sided tape; tombow liquid; glue sticks...

I use only two - Tombow Mono Multi Glue and Scor Tape. Both are small, portable, and have a fabulous hold. The days of parts and pieces of my cards falling off are gone forever!

Brook, I use 3 different types of adhesive: 1. 3L Scrapbook Adhesive in red or pink.2. Glue Pro Tape gun. (it's small and easy to use) and glue pen. for smaller items.

I go through so many foam / pop dots it's not funny--love to have different levels to my cards! I don't think of having lots of different adhesives as being excessive...just well prepared for any sort of crafting situation that might come up! So I'm more of an adhesive girl scout, and I should earn a badge after I try all the great suggestions people are giving me--thanks so much!

I remember reading somewhere before that the ATG is preferred by those with arthritic hands because it's more of an arm motion than fine motor as in with gripping with just your fingers. I can see how that is because I have severe carpal tunnel and have never noticed any pain as I might with a small runner. That being said, I LOVE LOVE LOVE my ATG and it was a great investment at 50% off at M's ($20) and I bought the general purpose rolls on eBay, 15 Packs/30 rolls for $30.

I am another one for ATG's, I own two, one with acid free tape one loaded with red label tape. There is a learning curve when first working with the gun but I did not give up (hated it) and now I would replace one or both in a heartbeat when my duct taped gun quits holding.
I have score tape for the area's that are hard to reach with the ATG.

I have a lot of different adhesives. I mostly use my AGT for card making and scrapbooking. I make my own glue dots with Aileens Tack It Over & Over. When I need a white glue, I use Sobo glue or Aileens quick grab tacky glue (and it does grab quick - great for heavy embellishments), and I also use KI Memories Gloo - its like Crystal effects. I also have some of the red liner tape that I use once in a while, and some sook wang (sp??) type that's really strong that I bought at a hobby shop. There area few others in my supply, but thats all I can think of off the top of my head.

Tape: Scor Tape - hands down! (Also sold under other brands (like Be Creative) and in flat sheets too - you'll know it because it says "Sook Wang" on the backing")
Glue: Tombow liquid (white bottle green cap - NEVER clogs, but makes my fingers REALLY sticky, no matter how much wiping) OR Scotch Quick Dry (I leave a pin in the top to keep it from clogging); Glossy Accents for super hold on teeny things
Foam: 3L Foam squares
Dots: Glue dots mini and Glue dots Micro

Another vote for the ATG here! It's not very heavy,it just looks it! But gosh, A roll of ATG lasts forever! So much more economical than the thermoweb tape runners I used before.
-I also use the Tombow Multi Liquid when needed-grabs fast and strong.
-Score tape for adhering ribbons or trims
-pop dots for 3-d effects

So there are different types of tape for the ATG? Acid free for scrapbooking - is it repositional? and then a general adhesive one? are there more and which ones do you like/recommend? Thanks

I use my ATG gun. I have the pink one from Michael's. The snail stuff doesn't hold and cards were falling apart. I don't think its heavy, just big. I had to get used to it but I love it.

I also love tombo mono-multi for paper piecing and small stuff

It took me years to jump on the ATG bandwagon.....I so wish I had joined in sooner. Love my ATG gun! Could not live without it. It seems big, but is not heavy at all. Not running out of adhesive all the time is a big plus as well. The big plus to having the big applicator is....you can find it on your desk! Hard to bury it!

Count me in as another that has two ATG guns--one is a spare---just in case. I have the rolls of snail too that I take to classes, but if it is an all day class, the pink ATG comes along. I too buy my refills from Tape Depot and have not had any issues at all. Glue dots for small things and corners as well as Tombo liquid when needed.

I have some arthritic issues with fingers, especially thumbs. I have no problems with my atg, I was worried I would when I ordered it. So far, it's been great.
