Default What are your MUST HAVE punches?

My demo is doing a "bundle" sale. She actually has a few but I'm interested in doing the "punch bundle" that she is offering. I get to choose any 11 punches in the catalog. The only one that I have is the ornament one.

Can you tell me which ones are must haves?

Without knowing what is in the current catty, I would have to say the basic shapes (circles, squares, ovals) would have to be the most useful for me. And I like to have some flower shapes too. Of all my punches, I use the circles in all sizes the most often.

Happy shopping.

Skip squares, too easy to cut with a trimmer or scissors. Definitely circles (especially the big ones), ovals and labels like the Curly label and Decorative label. I also use the Blossom punch quite often, love the stamps it matches.

My essentials are the owl, bird, modern label, and word window. And the circles.

Out of the catalog, I like: the owl, scalloped circles (can be used for layers or flowers!), circles, ticket, and I LOVE LOVE LOVE all the mini punches. I have found so many uses for these! I avoided them for awhile but I am not sure why because they are fab!!!!

Three that I use on just about every card are: Corner punch, Word Window and Modern Label. 2nd in line to those are the Oval and Scalloped Oval and then the circles. I actually use my square punch more than I would have thought I would, it's nice to just grab it and punch...always straight, always perfect

Just had to go and look at the online catalogue to make a relevant response.
In spite of Nestabilities, circle punches are ALWAYS useful, and I have a whole tin full of just circle punches.
Word Window, Modern Label (don't have, would like!).
The bird builder is great, the owl I gave to a friend and have never felt I should have kept it.
I like what I've seen of the Elegant Butterfly - and it's not one you'd have to have the matching stamp set to get a lot of use from.

The ones I use most is the Word Window and Modern Label punches. I use them with the Tiny Wishes' stamp set on more cards then I can remember.

Love the SU 'punch artisits' than can see the potential in a punch. I blog search and have found many ways to use punches.

I use the Modern label and scalloped border most often. I also use the scalloped square, ovals and scalloped oval a lot. The pennant punch is fun!

I love my punches! I really use them a lot.

OP here.

Can't someone just use their Cricut for the simple shapes (circles, squares, ovals). I'm probably assuming the convenience factor of having the punch is a lot better than dragging out the Cricut. But I was maybe thinking of getting the "odd" shaped punches first. And then maybe getting the simple shaped ones.

But now everyone is saying how much they use the circles, squares, ovals, etc that it has me second guessing myself. Oh the decisions !!

The convenience of a punch makes them a good choice for even the simple shapes. I thought I would stop buying punches one I got my cuttlebug, because dies take up so much less room in storage, but I'm still buying punches.

I have a cricut and use my punches much much more. First I have to search what cart the circles are in. And then you have to get the size right to fit what you need. With matching stamps, punches are much easier!!!

Wow, you only have 1 punch! Sounds like a great bundle for you!!

I love the word window punch and modern label punch.

Also love the medium and large oval and scalloped oval (sorry not sure the exact names without the catalogue in front of me, but they layer well together).

I also love the bird punch and decorative label punch!
And I use the boho blossoms punch a lot (or some other type of small flower punch) and the heart punch. Circles are always useful!

I really find punches and dies a good investment because I use them over and over. And often then can have a dual use (punch art).
Have fun punching!

modern label, word window, all ovals, circles, and squares, all the scalloped ones, corner rounder, decorative label

grabbing a punch has to be a lot faster than setting up a cutting machine

I love layering my punches (ie the scalloped circle and then smaller circles on it, decorative label with modern and/or curly label). So consider how you will use them individually versus layered. I also love the scalloped edge punch.

I don't have a cutting machine but I would think that one of the advantages is the ability to stamp and then punch for me this is essential since it makes up for a lot of crooked stamping since I can line up the punch however I stamped the image.

Sounds like an exciting deal! Let us know what you choose!

Punches are also convenient when you can just get the shape out of a scrap. I use up scraps that way.

I use the ovals and the word window, I like having the circles and the squares. Those are the punches that hang on towel bars on the side of my desk.

You only have one, you can't go wrong with your choices really, but first look at the stamp sets you have that have matching punches and perhaps start with some of those. Enjoy to selection process!

Ditto this. OK, actually I do have a cutting machine, but punches are just so much faster...stamp, punch, layer, done! If I just needed a bunch of odd-sized circles, let's say, then the Cricut is great. But if I've just stamped an image, I can center it in the punch and pop it out in seconds.
