Hey ya'll--hoping there's some differently-abled stampers on here to give me some advice!
I'm looking for a good scrap/stamp wheeled tote for a disabled friend of mine. It needs to be very easy to use, move, shove, pick up, everything. She has spina bifida and walks with difficulty, so it needs to be sturdy enough that she could lean on it but not so heavy that she couldn't get it to budge without falling over.
Can anyone reccommend a good tote? Obviously the shoulder strap is right out. I'm trying to think of what would be the most useful--the bag will have to sit on the floor and be accessible from the top, since she can't lift it up to place it on a chair or table.
I'm looking for forty dollars or under as well--I know, I want the moon!!! I got a cheapie from JoAnn's on clearance that I might give her and get myself a bigger one, but the JoAnn's one has very few bells and whistles and I do want it to be a nice gift (it's for her birthday, although she said she didn't mind a used one since she knows how pricey they can be).
They're just all so heavy--even when they're not that loaded down. I've been telling my scrap girls that whoever invents a tote that lifts itself in and out of the car will be a millionaire
Thanks for any input!

I seen some on clearance at our Michaels yesterday. May want to check it out. Or use a coupon. I dont have any bags like that, but I think the best thing would be to go and see what they have. Remember what ever she puts in it will make it heavy.
I'm not sure if there is a Costco near you, but ours has a rolling box, cart type thing that is hardsided, with canvas pockets on the outside, and a retractable handle. Very easy to pull. It's about $35 or so. It says it's designed for scrappers, but would work equally well for a stamper. I like it but I have one similar without the pockets that I got at Staples for around $20 - 5 years ago.
They would work very well for $20. Then a few small plastic type boxes inside to *house* all the different stamps, embellishments and things she would want to take. Staples also carries a nice hard cover 12 x 12 container to put paper in along one side of the crate!
I have hip, leg, back and wrist problems and can see myself being able to roll this with me while still having a hand free to use my cane.
Little boxes of things inside, i would be able to left out very easy.
HTH

Crop In Style would be your best bet, they have several different wheeled totes, the Navigator is a good size, just don't get the XXL size, when loaded up it weighs a TON and is very hard to lift in and out of a car. Most LSS and some other crafts stores carry them, I would try to find one locally because shipping would probably be pretty high!
Well, I am disabled, but I use a walker with a seat on it, so I generally use it like a cart when I'm shopping, lol...I just grab a small basket and set it on the seat. That way if I need to sit all of a sudden I can just set the basket on the floor.
My husband gave me a rolling cart for Christmas that's kind of cool. It's called a Quick Cart by dbest products. It's like a milk crate with a telescoping handle, but it has a lid that makes it sturdy enough to actually sit on like a chair.
The thing I like about it is it's rigid...you can push it as well as pull it, which makes a big difference. It's plastic, so it's not too heavy unless you load it down with heavy items. It folds down to a small box for storage, too, which means you can just toss it in a closet or the trunk of your car easily.
Sometimes it'll just be a matter of trial and error, because so many folks have different areas that are affected by disability. It does sound like pushing reather than pulling might be a better option for your friend, but she'll probably just have to try some out before deciding.

It was the crop in style I believe our michaels had on clearance.
Thank you for your input!
I'm such a go-go-go kind of person that I don't always think of everything that someone with some physical troubles might have to deal with, but these are very helpful suggestions. I will have to do a little shopping at some places that hadn't occurred to me.
I appreciate ya'll's advice! Thanks!

Micheals now has the Scrap, Paper Scissors rolling tote back in stock - I think the retail price is $60 - so if you can get one one week where there is a coupon - it is pretty mice with some inserts...

When I must take my wheeled cart from "Memories to Go" (QVC) I am really careful not to overload. There's only so much that you can do in a day..lol..so I take the minimum and some extras. i may even do some precutting of things that I might need. Ball-bearing wheels are a must and also a handle that can lock in both up and down positions. It is really nice that you are taking the time to find just the right carry-all for your friend!
