I make a lot of invitations. I end up with a good amount of left over material. Now I do this because I always purchase and extra 10%. My printer also that I submit an extra 10%, Most of the time the materials are printed. Now the paper I use doesn't have a 'front' or 'back' side to it. Either side looks the same. So, I was thinking about making cards with it using the extra printed paper for layering or matting. Since they're a lot, I was thinking about making sets of cards and selling those. But not a normal rate, a lower discounted rate (probably a $1.00 a piece or less) and selling them as cards made from recycled material.
Now tell me what do you think? Seriously? I have so much extra paper. I would hate to just throw them away. It's very nice thick cardstock that can be used. I just can't throw away paper. I'd love any suggestions, I'm being completely over taken by scraps!!!
I have three drawers of scrap paper.
1. Plain cardstock big enough to be the base for my card, all SU since that's pretty much all I use.
2. Plain cardstock that isn't big enough to use for a base.
3. Everything else, designer paper, vellum, etc.
I always go to my scrap drawers when I start a project and try to use that stuff first.
I try to use scraps whenever possible. They are great for punching shapes, such as the scallop punches, or hearts. They come in handy. I've reused things I get in the mail if it is a particularly pretty paper. I volunteer at our local senior center, and we love the punched shapes. I even punch them out of cardbacks. Some of them are beautiful paper, and it doesn't matter if they have printing on one side, we adhere that side down.

I think your plan sounds good, but if you're still inundated with more than you can use, why not find a Girl Scout service unit to donate the scraps to. The girls can use them to make "table cards" for Meals on Wheels, or cards for nursing home residents or children's hospital patients.
I use scraps any chance I get. cards, covered notebooks, etc. The best thing I've found to use a lot of scraps is the 3x3 notecards or gift tags. You can always use scraps to make photocorners as well. I still have piles of scraps though and am always on the lookout for different ways to use them. You can only do so much iris folding.

buy a filing folder and catergorize it by color.I color code my file folder and every time I have left over scraps I place them in there. My kids go there any time they need scrap paper fpr school or everyday projects .it's better than cutting a fresh piece every time.

That would be a great idea. Our Daisy troop was gifted several reems of cardstock this year. We are using it for all our projects. At our first meeting they used Pink cardstock to cover composition books.
I used to save them but I realized that I never used them! I am working VERY hard at not being a pack rat. I finally gave myself permission to throw scraps away (unless I know I can use them for a specific project).

I save them all and try to use them when I am making cards. It helped to get some of them used up when I did my craft fair. I have big container full still even after making over 200 cards.
thank you guys for your confirmation. I think I'm really going to use some of your ideas. I feel better now at considering using them. I kinda felt bad because they were scraps.
Also, I did donate to a school about 3 reams of paper along with stickers, punch outs, rub-on's, etc... All the extra stuff I had which I thought could be used for misc. projects for the kids. So, hopefully it will be put to some good use. I'm keeping and recycling the paper that's printed on one side.
I have one paper file (by cropper hopper) for each SU color family and one for neutrals. I put my scraps in it and keep it on my desk close at hand. My full sheets are further away from my desk so I am more likely to check on the scraps first. I just ordered 3 more folders to keep pattern paper scraps, extra images I might have stamped, etc.)
My printed paper is sorted by general color and put in another cropper hopper organizational tool.
