Default Well, that was a new experience

This past weekend I traveled to visit my family since I have a new niece who's recovering from heart surgery. I have a craft fair on Saturday so I couldn't just take the whole weekend off - I had four scrappin' kits to make into cards so I cut them up into pieces before I left and took them with me, along with ribbon, ink, stamps, etc. I actually got a lot done on them! Well, yesterday I flew home and had a 3+ hour layover in Chicago. I got a table in the food court and spread out my stuff to do some stamping on the cards. I didn't really care what people thought, but people really stared! And at the point when I was about to wrap up, there was a couple sitting next to me who were just boldly whispering and watching everything I was doing. It was pretty weird. But I just kept stamping away... I guess I'm a freak!

That would have been a great oppurtunity to introduce them to stamping & cardmaking.

I bet they were just envious that they didn't have such a fun way to spend their time waiting! I probably would have done the same thing though just because I enjoy watching people make things. Even a knitter will keep me entertained for hours.

I agree that they were wishing they had thought of something like that! I would have done the same thing. In fact I did! I brought a liitle package along right on the plane when I went to visit my dad in Alabama 2 yrs ago. I did not care what people thought. At least I had something to do!

I was going to say the same thing... envious that THEY didn't have something to do. I know that I sure would have been smacking my forehead wishing that I had brought my stamping stuff with me. (Although I did bring several UM stamp sets, markers and card stock when we went to Cancun last March.)

I used to do the same when my kids were at their ice skating lessons. The place we used to go to was huge and had tables upstairs. I'd take over a whole table and be on my merry way. I had more moms stop me and ask what I was doing. They all like the idea that I was doing something for myself while I had a few hours of dead down time. I even let a few kids sit with me to play. I agree it how you manage your time. Women, especially moms, know how to maximize every minute of the day.

I doubt they thought you were a freak- they probably thought it was neat. They may have never seen stamping before and they might not have known what you were doing- but they probably were just curious and interested.

Besides, having spent several hour lay overs in airports before- stamping would be one of the LEAST freaky things going on. You see some strange characters in an airport.

You aren't kidding about that!!! I frequently take projects with me when I travel. It's amazing how much you can get done if you plan carefully about what all you need to have with you.

:-) My friends and I scrapbooked in Starbucks a couple of weekends ago. Our LSS and Archiver's were filled to the brim, and we had nowhere else to go! So we set up on a big table and went to town. :-) Made quite the scene, we did, but it was fun. :-)
