Oh I just saw this off of Jan Tinks blog and it's absolutely drop dead beautiful. http://stampspaperscissors.typepad.c...t-doin-it.html Who else has done this? Can I see more samples to drool over. Pretty please.
I have been using Fifth Ave Floral alot lately - but had not seen this technique. Thank you for sharing! I'll have some samples in my gallery later today. I have to try it!
In the meantime - I did post a photo of a rose I watercolored the regular way - and added Crystal Effects. Let me know what you think!
I did! But I don't have SU's shimmery paper. I tried it on SU's white and vanilla, it didn't work. So I tried it on watercolor paper and was pleased but not satisfied with the results. I really want to get the shimmery paper because I think the ink would flow better. Here is a link to my card!
I saw this on Jantink's blog this morning and couldn't wait to try it! My roses are drying as we speak! I did 3 and one of them looks really beautiful so far; Hopefully, I can make a card with it tonite before Idol, LOL! I'm off to work now (though I'd rather make roses!).

OMG! I've seen soo many nice things made with the fifth ave floral, and I was going to wait until the next order after workshop to buy another set(seeing how I just got soo many bargains on some retired sets) But this is absolutely beautiful. I keep changing my order for workshop, but this is now a definate must have on my list! Thanks soo much for the link!
Hope it turns out just as nice on glossy, we don't have shimmer in our Aus catalogue :(
I used the Embrace life set with this technique and the shimmer paper- I tried 4 different color combo's...WOW the shimmer is gorgeous! Here is a link to my card:
This technique is so much fun...almost addicting, lol. A friend and I were playing with this a couple of weeks ago and she went home and continued on into the night! The shimmery paper really helps because it does have that nice coating/finish. Plus, the shimmer really shows through magnificently!
It's the same principle as silk painting...you paint your lines (the embossed image) and wet the fabric, then the lines act to resist the paint you drop on. Beautiful...mesmerizing!
This is a real WOW...the examples you ladies have provided at STUNNING! I am waiting not so patiently (ordered on Monday) for my order to ship from SU..in the mean time I might just try the Embrace Life set....so awesome ladies..thanks for sharing...
blessings.
I did try using shimmery white, embossed with versamark and white detail Ep - dropped on some ink... and had to get to work! I don't know what will be waiting for me when I get home and I can see the result after it dries!
This is one that I made. My club members will be making it this Saturday. I don't have the Manhattan Flowers stamp set so I used Bloomin' Beautiful instead!
I've been on the fence about 5th Ave Floral but this has just gone and pushed me over the edge. It's going on my next order. I'll have to get some more reinkers too. Why oh why do I have to wait until the 15th! Oh yeah because I spent my $$ on real flowers for my front yard....... :-)

wow...I've looked at this thread title for several days and didn't click on it until TODAY! I am so happy that I did...that rose is gorgeous and I can't wait til the kids are in school tomorrow to soak in the tutorial.
Wow ladies these are wonderful. Even the ones that aren't done with the technique. I tried it with butterflies but I don't have the SU paper and I think I used fine clear embossing powder so it didn't work quite as well as I would have liked but there were a couple that are probably usable for cards.
Yeah, I love how this works! I'm anxious to try it with other colors. Here's a card I made with it: Watercolor Rose Thanks for sharing the link with us Jan and I can't wait to see the rest of you cards using this!

The rose card is lovely! The technique is not new, but the results are always amazing. This is also called a form of embossing resist. So you might try searching for that and also under water color.
This is one I did a long time ago using this same technique. Mine is a little less controlled w/ the colors but I liked the results. It also shows that this tech works on images other than just flowers.

I just had to try this last night!! I got 4 roses made. Hopefully tonight after work and my daughter's spring program at school, I can get some cards cranked out. This will be perfect as my Mom's name is Rose. And on top of Mother's Day her birthday is next week. So I might try Patty's other version, the brayered roses for the birthday card.
