I have dabbled with the aqua painter and blender pen, but as I keep looking at the new "Long-time Friend set", I am curious about what the difference between the aquapainter and watercolor crayons? Also, I have never used watercolor paper, and what does that do?
I'd appreciate your comments and ideas!

I will be interested in your thread, I've bought the watercolor crayons and paper abt 9 months ago and used them once! I have not purchased the aquapainter however! I was totally frustrated with them, had 2 sets come broken (which I give SU credit for, they replaced them both times!)
the watercolor crayons are awesome. they will last forever and with your aquapainter you can't go wrong. I haven't used a blender pen with the crayons at all. The aquapainter helps you get just about any shade of a color you can imagine. Just don't push to hard and get to much water.
The watercolor paper I haven't used I did take a watercolor class where we used the actual tubes of watercolor, regular brushes and watercolor paper. what they said was the paper has some teeth like substance more so then regular paper and it helps hold the color. you can see a big difference if you stamp side by side I am told just haven't tried it yet.
I have cheap watercolor paper I got at Michael's that I just used the other day & really liked it. It's heavier than cardstock & doesn't warp or roll up like cardstock does when wet. The watercolor crayons are like a having a whole palate of paints, but they are dry! You "just add water" by touching the crayons with your aquapainter & start "coloring" in. You can color on the image then smooth it with the aquapainter. You can color right on your stamps (damp stamps work really well & make a nice soft image).
I've used both the Aquapainter and a blender pen with my watercolor crayons. It depends on the look you're going for. The blender pens work great for finer details and more control of the color. The Aquapainter gives a softer, looser look to the coloring.

I got my watercolor paper at Mike's too - couldn't see paying the SU price, even if it is a lot better. I have used both aquapainters and blender pens with my crayons. The effect is a little bit different. Because the aquapainters have more liquid in them, the color gets more diluted and subtle. The image looks deeper and creamier with the blenders. The watercolor paper is textured too, so that adds to the look of the image. My advice - play! See what works for you.
