I was just (finally!) cleaning off my desk space and there must be 10+ different patterend papers that I have cut into and now have scraps- some big, some small. I am challenging myself this weekend to use up that pile of scraps before I cut into anything else. Want to play along? I know you have a pile on your desk too (please tell me I'm not the only one!). Link your cards back here. I will link mine as soon as DH bring back the camera from his fishing trip! Let's get rid of the scraps!
I have a funny "scrap" system that happened by accident. I keep my Cuttlebug and folders in one of those sturdy heavy-duty file boxes with a lid. I put the box on the floor near where I stamp and it has turned into a "small table" where I stack stuff as I am cardmaking.
So, there is a huge stack of scraps, ribbon pieces, etc. on the top of the box. To use my Cuttlebug I have to take the top off, and then I see the scraps, and then I go through and actually use some of them!

Also, I'm designing cards for a kids' birthday card stamps a stack tomorrow and I've been using lots of 1x5.5" strips of designer paper on these. Great way to use up scraps!
I love making cards with my scrapbooking scraps...just seems to be a natural progression from one craft to the next. And then the tinier stuff gets worked back into the scrapbooks as embellishments, or into the kids' collage box.
Bummer..I am going to be gone for the rest of the weekend and really think this one terrific idea. I will check back to see all of the creations and hopefully there will be a continuing thread....SUPER idea.
I have a box on my desk full of 2 gallon baggies and each baggie has scraps from each color catagorie. Sounded like a great way to keep scraps easy to use. NOT! Now the baggies are too full to add more and another pile has started. I will see what I can do with all that tonight and tomorrow.

I have a basket in back of my cutter that I slip scraps into. Every so often I cut the cardstock into ATCs or 3x3 cards. Then I cut the DP scraps into sizes to fit these and store them in ziploc bags or boxes until I have a few minutes to fill. They are a great way to use that 10 or 15 minutes while waiting for your DH to get ready to take you to dinner.
I too have been trying to use up scraps of DSP. I have TONS of it. I think I just need to finally toss it when they are small. I think 3 x 3 cards is a great idea.
I'm in. may not get any posted, but I was getting ready to just toss 3 gallon sized ziplocks full into a garage sale. Let me see what I can salvage first. Great challenge!

I always go to my scrap file before I cut a new piece of paper unless I'm working on a swap. Another thing that I'm getting ready to do, but will have to wait until I get home (I'm in Northern Virginia at the moment enjoying my grandchildren) is using my scraps to punch into one inch squares for inches. Took a class from Karen Lockhart and she gave us that idea, so I'm going to do that and file them in my divided container to have ready for inches.
Made a couple more card targeting scraps! Love it when I pull a piece out of my accordian scrap file and don't put it back!! On the 3x3 cards it is easy to use even very small pieces as main layers. Most of my fave patterned papers started off as 12x12 and I have a small stack of 5x12, etc sizes of remnants.
The last link is to a collage stamped card -- haven't done that kind of thing too much, but it's fun and also a FAB way to use random sized scraps of plain white CS!

Glad you started this post. I have been gathering my many bins of scrap DSP and card stock and even snip its of ribbon. I was challenging myself to use it by the end of the summer - at least make a dent in it. I have tons.
I like using it on 3 x 3 cards. The other thing I use small pieces for are for punches. I get out all my punches and just punch a bunch! I will put a pile of different punches in a pouch (clear bag) and decorate a cute topper for it and pass it on to other stamping friends and to my customers! They love it.
I found this tip on the Ruby Slippers blog today and wanted to share it.
I read somewhere about a way to use up scraps. I save bits and pieces of things as well as stamped things. This technique involves choosing 3 colors to work with. Then you go through all your scraps and bits of ribbon, etc. and pull out everything in those colors. Use as much as you can to create a card. It is OK to "cheat" a bit and use other items on hand that are not in your scrap box. I have done about a dozen of these cards and have been happy with all of them. It is a great way to put together a quick card.
