Default Unmounting rubber stamps?

I have decided to unmount my rubber stamps. My questions is do most people remove the rubber and foam together or just remove the rubber? Which would be best and why? If you use just the rubber, do you stamp on a cushioned surface or a hard surface?
TIA, Ramona

I have unmounted my stamps and I personally like to leave the cushion on the stamps.. this way one... I dont have to stamp on a cushioned surface and two ...when I ink up the stamp on a clear block the stamp is raised enough so I dont get stay ink marks on my clear block.. hth:mrgreen:

Default how to stamp unmounted

I just got done unmounting all my wood stamps and you wouldn't believe the amount of space I have now!!!
I use just the rubber. I put double stick tape on my acrylic mounts and stamp on a pad of paper. It works great. you could also use a product called Aleene's tack it over and over to put on the back of the stamps.
another note, I saw in the stamping aisle at Joann's a sticky pad that is reusable and will serve the purpose of cushion also. It was ten dollars but with the coupon it would only be 6. Just a thought.

no more wood mounts for me.

good luck

If you keep on the cushion you can use the acrylic blocks to stamp with cause that stuff clings to it.. my stampin pal is unmounting all of her SU! stamps.

I found a link where a person used the sticker that comes with the Stampin Up stamps and placed it on the sticky back of the rubber so that when she stamped she had a visual to help guide her. If I did this method could I mount them by using Aleen's Tack It Over & Over?

I too am unmounted and I just use the rubber with no problems...I love the freeness of stamping and the small amount of space needed to store so many stamps!

It really depends on whether or not the foam comes off easily. if the foam doesn't act like i wants o come off then I leave it alone, being to lazy to fight with it.
