Default Super EZ tan mat substitute

I shared this on another board and it seemed like a helpful tip:

For those of you who have Nesties and want to emboss, did you know that you could just flip the die over after cutting and use a bone folder to make the embossing stand out?

It works the same as dry embossing - and no looking for the tan mat which sometimes can get misplaced under piles of projects.

I don't know if it's been shared before but it was sort of a "duh, why didn't I think of this before?" when I did it. Really easy when I tried it on the Labels die last night!

me too...never thought of it. TFS! If I ever lose the tan mats, I'll have my bone folder.

Clever idea. Will give it a try.

My tan mat substitute has been the little kids' foam sheets. Dollar Tree sells them in packages of 40 (4"x6" size). Depending on the size of die, I can use each piece a few times. I keep them in a basket with the plates next to my Cuttlebug.

I was using those sheets and could not get a decent impression - how many did you put into the sandwich? Of course I had already ordered my replacement tan mat so now I'll have two tan mats, and an even easier way to emboss now ;-)

Cool idea! I wish I would have thought of this before I just bought my tan mats after holding out for a long time. The fun foam was just not giving me a deep embossing look no matter what I did. Oh well! I guess I'm supporting the economy.
