OK, I know that someone can give me the scoop on this.
With respect to the brightness of SU whisper white, are Gina K and Papertrey white cardstock comparable? Also, what about smoothness??
I have been waiting over a week for my papertrey order and I just can't wait any longer. I need to get started and I'm thinking I can at least start embossing one of the layers, but I want to make sure that if I use SU WW cardstock, that it will match the other two papers. I've ordered both gina K pure lux white and the papertrey white cardstock, and whichever shows up first will be my card base.
I've had terrible luck with shipping lately. BLECK!
Gina's paper is great for card bases, but my punches don't work well with it at all because it's so much heavier than SU's WW. So I use it only for bases and SU for layers and punching-haven't tried embossing with all of them. I thought PTI's white wasn't quite as smooth as the others, but it's heavier than SU but not as heavy as Gina's.
They match up in brightness and color fine enough to me, I figure no one I send cards to is going to notice.
Gina K's white cardstock is exactly the same smoothness as SU white, but Gina K's is much thicker, so it's perfect for a card base. I also like Papertrey white, but I don't think it is as white as SU and Gina K, and Papertrey doesn't have that same smooth feel. It's still great cardstock, though. I have all three and use them for different things. Still, Gina K's is probably more of the "match" that you are looking for to SU.

Thanks!! I just want to make sure that if I use SU for embellishments and layering, that it will match the Gina K for the base! Appreciate the quick response!!
It's an identical match to SU's white. I got a piece of our 80lb white mixed up with a piece of SU Whisper White and we could figure out which one was ours. Ours comes in two weights- 80lb. and 120lb. Same exact color.

Then I got some of the Gina K. It's beyond nice. Honestly I think that if every crafter could get just one sheet of Gina K's they would never go back. A card made with a Gina K 120lb base screams quality, the reciever will really appreciate the quality.

Exactly my opinion, too! And I could color on Gina K's layering weight paper for days.

I agree with Gina. Gina K's is an exact match. PTI is a much brighter white and not smooth like Gina K and SU.
As others have said PTI is more heavy but not as smooth. The smooth factor is so slight I've only found the difference to be an issue when coloring with copics. I prefer SU for copics because it blends easier and doesn't soak up so much ink. For something like embossing I'd just start so long as it isn't the card base.

AWESOME! I can't wait to get my Gina K paper! I ordered the 120lb and I'm really looking forward to getting my hands on it. So far, I'm very impressed with Gina K... I ordered my stuff on Tuesday night at 8pm and it shipped on Wednesday!
I do like PTI paper also. I tend to use it on specific projects where I want a real bright white. When using as a card base I ususally score on both sides so less cracking. I did my son and future dil's wedding invites with PTI white and Raspberry Fizz DP. They came out great. Also using the same DP for accents on favors for the wedding, bridal shower, table names and seating assignments. I love, love, love the DP hope to have sone leftover.
Just a quick question on the Gina K cardstock--You would use the 120 lb for the base then you could emboss with the 80 lb.? Is that correct? TIA
Yes, that is right. The 80lb is the Layering Weight and the 120lb is called Base Weight. I use both for different uses. The layering weight is great for layered cards, since it keeps the weight of your card less and also wonderful if you plan to cut out an image or punch.
The heave Base Weight is wonderful for card bases, single layer cards, with no bleeding. Also, if you have a printer that can handle paper that thick, you can print digital papers on it and make wonderful 3-d projects.
Both weights emboss beautifully with CB folders, IMO.
I'm glad I stumbled on this thread. I've only purchased PTI white cs & have been very happy with it but I'm intrigued with everyone's rave reviews of Gina K's card stock.
I can't wait to try it..my next base paper order will be with Gina K.
GinaK's cardstock is the best. If I could get all the SU colors in GinaK's quality I would buy it over SU anyday. I just touched my luxury white from my paper collect and it is so much thicker than the whisper white from SU. And their shipping is reasonable to Canada. PTI's shipping has been terrible for me so that is why I don't buy from them.
I haven't used WW in FOREVER! Ever since I found PTI's paper that is! I have Gina K's white too, and I love it just as much
For layers and Copic coloring I use Neenah Solar White, that's a nice white too! I don't have any WW or I would compare those for you...
I agree with the others, that I can visibly tell the difference between SU and PTI white. If I use PTI white for the base (which I love), I go ahead and layer with the PTI white as well, because to my eyes it looks bad to mix. If I have a colored base, though, I use SU for white layers because it's a thinner weight.
I am intrigued by the Gina K's two weights. Also if Gina K is really such a match for SU, maybe I will try their base weight so that I can layer it with the SU and it will match.... Good to know!!!!
I don't know about the colors, but just wanted to comment that I dislike the SU WW for Copics (someone else said they preferred it--funny!)...I think it's super hard to blend on; the colors look different and it is TOO smooth. I love the PTI for Copics, though the heavier weight will soak up a lot more of your ink. I haven't tried the GinaK for Copics yet but lots of people rave about it. The heavier GinaK is definitely nice for card bases, as has been repeated

Oooh, so glad I saw this thread! I am planning on placing an order with Gina K with some of our tax refund and I was debating which card stock to try. Now it looks like I will have to try both the 80 and 120 lb. Thanks so much for all in the input and advice!

I love SU but not with my Copics, it pils. I was surprised another poster on this thread said she liked it for Copics. I use GP cheap cardstock for my Copics but am going to buy some GinaK because I have heard how nice it is.
I got both orders today, Gina K and PTI. The PTI is a good weighted cardstock, but it's def. not as bright. I LOVE the Gina K. It's as bright as the SU and it's very heavy. I'm getting ready to order 3 more packs tonight.
