Smile Su Ribbon Keeper

I am completely new to SU and I just got the holiday mini and 2006-07 catalogue...let's just say I'm overwhelmed by the cuteness of everything!

I have two questions, I hope u'll can answer!

1. Is the Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon new to this mini catalogue (as in only available until Nov 30th?) I don't see it in the main catalogue, only non-stitched ones. I hope that's not the case because that would mean I need to stock up?

2. I really like the SU ribbon keepers in the medium and larger size. Since I haven't seen how big the actual spool is for organdy and grosgrain, would these two ribbon keeper sizes hold other brands ribbons too? Like standard ones from MIchaels?

Thanks!

The stiched grosgrain is new and only available during this holiday mini period. SU could bring it back later in other colors or even those colors, but they keep us guessing!

Ribbon holders -- yes you can put other sizes in them.

Thanks Joan B.

Is the grosgrain ribbon spools really big? Looking at the picture in the catalogue, it seems really huge! I don't think MIchaels even sell ribbon with spools that large?

SU grosgrain rolls are a tad over 4.25 inches in diameter. The gingham rolls are 3.25 inches in diameter and are the same size as the ribbon rolls as I bought at Michaels.

BUT...SU ribbon goes almost all the way to the middle of the roll, with 25 yds on the grosgrain and 15 on the gingham. Michaels gingham ribbon is only in the outer half inch of the roll, with 4 yards on it! Guess which is almost always the better buy?

Actually, if you look at the new Ribbon Originals packages, they include stitched grosgrain in 2 different sizes. But the ribbon in the holiday mini is the only stitched grosgrain that's available in spools. HTH!

Thanks for the dimensions! I'll go check out my ribbon supply and see if I should buy this ribbon keeper

Is the ribbon keepers a temporary item in the Mini Catalogue? I noticed a picture of a table with the ribbon keepers - in the main 2006-07 catalogue....does that mean that the ribbon keeper will be available to order past Nov 30th?

The ribbon keepers are temporary to the mini, but my guess is they will show up in the next catalog in July.

I store my ribbon spools on a dowel that's hung from the wall with big hooks I got at the hardware store. Works really nice because you can just unroll what you need. I have two and probably need a third soon. (hee hee) I have them mounted between my counter space and my bottom shelf. I've seen someone do something similar but they used decorate shelf brackets rather than the hardware store hooks.

Can anyone tell me the measurements of the SU ribbon holders (sm,med,lg) - I have a cabinet of sorts in my d/r that I use to store supplies & finding something to fit is a problem.
Thanks,
Kitty

I just ordered these from my demonstrator. I don't know when I'll get them but I can't wait. I think I ordered earlier than the catalog is available. I hate waiting!
Anyway, she said that when you pull the ribbon, the other spools don't turn like they do on a dowel. This way, you don't have ribbon hanging all over the place. I am so excited to get these and get my ribbon out in the open!

I don't know the measurements (that would require finding a tape measure!) but I can tell you that they hold all sizes of SU ribbon. They can be stacked (3 of them) on top of each other or they can be separate. They fit inside a cabinet if they aren't stacked. They are made of that bendable plastic stuff and have tabs to hook them together for stacking.

Hi Kitty,
I just put my ribbon holders together last night. They are all just under 6.5" wide. The lg is about 4 7/8" deep and 4 3/4" tall, med is about 3 3/4" deep and 3 3/4" tall, sm is 3 1/8" deep and 3 1/8" tall.
The measurements I give are fairly accurate give or take an 1/8". I have mine all stacked together - 2 of each size. The stack is about 2' tall - a little wobbly but it isn't going to tip over.
Hope this helps

I do not have these yet but one of each stracked together was designed to be one foot tall. HTH.
