SU retirement predictions
What do you predict SU will retire?
What do you hope doesn't go?
I predict~
Pick-a-Petal
Simply Said
Loads of Love
Priceless and a few others that have been around awhile
I would hate to see Chocolate Chip go....I use it all the time. I like Espresso, but I like CC better.
I'm also wondering about Party Hearty. I still want it!

Those certainly are oldies. I don't think there will be any colors retiring this year after the big change from last year. There will be 5 new In colors in July plus we keep the old 5 for another year. Party Hearty is 30% off this month BTW. It's not that old, so I hope it will stay, but you never know. I keep thinking Lovely as a Tree will go, but it hangs on forever - such a great set.

I have NO idea. I wish the list came out earlier.
I agree with Kim - I don't think you'll see any colours go.

I don't think they will be retiring any colors...last year was an oddity. They have said it will be a while before they do that again....I just got home from working outside in 40 degree weather so I'll have to warm up some before making any predictions:-/

How did I miss PH was on sale? Goodness. I'm a newer hobby demo and check the SU site almost daily for news....Did not see this but will be ordering! I knew there must be a good reason I had this question to post on predictions!

It's for the May scrapbook promotion. You can find all the info and stamp sets on sale under the promo tab for it. Just because it is on special doesn't mean it's going to go for sure....it's just a good set for scrapping like the others on sale.

And THIS is why you have GOT to get on the demo side of SCS....
LOL! It's actually more helpful sometimes than the actual demo website, lol!

My biggest fear is that they aare going to retire Lovely as a Tree. A couple of the old sets (Autumn Days for one) is now available in clear mount. However, our faveLovely as a Tree, is not. So I wonder if it may be one to go. I live on a pretty tight budget so it takes me a couple years to get all the things I like from a catalog. Sometimes they are gone before i can afford them. However, if "Trees"nappears on the retirement list I'm going to order a new one so I can clear mount it. My old set is really getting beat up. I think the trees stamp has been around for eight or nine years. I started in 2003 and it was available then.

I am guessing that this is the year for Lovely As A Tree to be on the retirement list. You could unmount yours and make it a clear mount set. I have done this numerous times.
I also think the following will retire...
Loads of Love
Sock Monkey
Animal Stories ( which is also on sale the month )

If you do I'll buy the old one! I've had my eye on this set for years but haven't bought it.

In accordance with Murphy's Law, I predict they will retire anything current that I already have! This makes Loads of Love and Lovely as a Tree (Although that one will make me cry, that's the only set I have to do masculine cards and the new nautical ones don't make sense for my family...) very likely to be retired. Baroque Motifs as well. Sigh.

I hope you're wrong on Under the Stars maryrose. I've been wanting that one for the past year and keep putting it off. Your list is long, do you know something we don't??

The answer is really the same every year ... more wanted sets than I can afford to get.
Lovely as a Tree and Inspired by Nature have been on my wishlist for a long time but end up "bumped" when I need consumables or "need" something from a mini that might not be in another catalog. I also think Jolliest Time of the Year would be fun (esp. for kids' cards) so I'm hoping I get a windfall (not likely) or none of these retire (I'm sure at least one will)!
Still, I love these prediction threads 'coz it makes me prioritize my wishlist for "just in case"
Happy Crafting!

WEll, if Lovely as a Tree goes on the retired list, you had better order early according to this thread! I never bought it because I bought a couple of trees that look just like the ones in the set, but I agree it sure is a great one.
If maryrose's list is accurate, I am going to be spending my entire yearly budget in one month!!;)

BY the way, they don't run out of stamp sets like other things because they make them. They will make as many as they need.

I think SU will retire many of the wood only sets and replace with sets that have both options. I think many of the sets listed will go. I want to see a new Flamingo set!!

I've been wanting Lovely as a Tree and am hoping they switch that one to clear mount. I don't have a lot of room for wood mounted sets and on principle, I can't make myself pay full price for it in the wood version. Keeping my fingers crossed that they don't retire it.

Lovely as a Tree is their best seller. So it may stay until it drops a bit more.
I kinda like Mary Rose's list. I already have:
Always
Fun and Fast Notes
Jolliest Time of the Year
Smarty Pants
Tart and Tangy
Full of Life - I think; must check
Heard from the Heart - I think; must check
I need to go through my stamps again and check, because I totally think I have purchased Heard From The Heart and Inspired By Nature. I could have bought them and forgot to put them on my inventory spreadsheet.
If Mary Rose's predictions are correct, I would definitely want:
*Bugs and Kisses
*God's Blessings
*Thoughts and Prayers
*A word for you
And I would be tempted by:
Just Buzzin By
Loads of Love
As it is, not sure I couldn afford to get all 4 of my 'must haves', so hopefully the other two aren't retired.
My hope is that whatever remains that is currently only wood mount will be offered with the clear mount option.

I think they will retire SOME WM only sets but I also think the will offer the rest that don't retire in both mounts. They did the same thing when they went to all die cut stamps....sure, they got rid of some but they kept a lot too and then just offered them as die cut.

Lovely as a Tree was recently added as a digital download, so the images should be available, even if the rubber set retires.

Exactly with you on this. I love the clear mount and for me to buy wood mount just to unmount is alot of wasted money. I'm so hoping they make other wood mounted only sets available for clear mount. I think that would be a wise decision for them. Just having the choice means alot to the me and my customers. I remember when the foam was a choice too and I loved having that option, especially when I first started stamping. I didn't feel I was spending alot on a possible new hobby (now addiction).

I have not had a chance to make my list yet, but do any of you think that there is a chance we could be getting any of the sets that are in the other markets mini's (that are currently not in ours)? There is a cute baby set and a single stamp wedding/newlywed one out there.
