I'm an SU demo and my customers got a chance to use this at my June Stamp Camp. One of the gals said, "This thing is worth its weight in gold!" She ordered it pretty quickly, but she's still waiting for it. If you use framelits/Nesties a lot, I would say that it IS a great item to get! Is it *necessary*, no, because you can still use your post-its, but it's awfully nice! :-)

I used it at a class last month. Great tool. With that said, I AM on a bit of a budget. According to the Sizzix site, it will be available in your craft stores in September. Joann doesn't allow coupons for paper cutting machines and/or accessories, but Michaels does. So, at $40 original price, with a 40% off coupon you could save $16 and not have to pay for shipping. I think I'm going to wait.

I ordered the SU platform on my demo preorder. I LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!! I almost bought one at Archivers one day but held off, I was so happy to see it in the catalog. I heard the sizzix one is better than the one I was going to buy so I was very happy I waited.
I have used it each time I have crafted lately. But I am a HUGE fan of framelits....I have all the SU ones except one set....and that set is on my next order, LOL!!!! If you use framelits a lot, I would say it is worth the money.
As far as the backorder issue, SU is waiting on shipments from sizzix and are shipping them out as the orders came in. The order number is turned off right now, so that SU can catch up on shipping them out. As soon as they get a handle on it, they are supposed to turn the ordering number back on. SU said they went through what should have been months supply in three weeks!!! Very popular item.

I kind of made my own. I used a big sheet of magnet (8.5x11) and cut it to size. The back side is sticky, so you could attach it to cardboard, but I just left the sticker on mine. I had to play a bit to get the sandwich right (used cardboard shims) but it works great. I admit, I would have spent the money on the SU one but I have a cuttlebug and the SU one is too big for my machine.
