Default Stamping wedding invitations -- I need some advice

I know there are some SCS'ers who have made wedding invitations. I am desperate for some advice -- I'm just starting the process and I have a bunch of questions.

I want to stamp my invitations with flourishes in an arc on three sides of the invitation -- bottom left, top left, and top right. But I am not sure about the order in which I need to do the stamping and the printing of the words of the invitations.

Do I do all the stamping first and then give the paper to the printer to print the wording and cut it to the right size?

or, do I get all the wording printed first, and then do the stamping -- and get extras printed (and for more money) in case I make a mistake?

I spoke with one printer yesterday in NYC and she was totally confused. OK, she wasn't a stamper, but it was at a paper store where there are lots of crafty things.

I dont need to start making invitations until January -- wedding is next June -- but I want to figure this out now so I can buy paper on sale.

thanks!

I've done a few weddings..............so advice (per your request!)

I would FIRST have the printer do the printing and cutting of paper to the size you need.

Then, you can easily stamp, etc.

Seems to work best.

I have had my printers do about 10-15 more in the event some don't stamp like I want, so some extras are good.

Good luck!

thanks Joanne, that's exactly what I needed to know. My friend and I got so hung up on figuring this out.
