I wonder if any of you have tried using acrylic paint instead of ink? I haven't tried it myself and am wondering how it would be done - this is with rubber stamps ofcourse.
I love my MM acrylic paints so much and realy want to use them for this project, and I am looking for great ideas how to get the best result..
I also used this paint with inexpensive foam stamps from the dollar store and made some flower and ladybug embellishments for a scrap page. I just bought some fish themed foam stamps to put on another page for a visit to the Boston Aquarium.
I just brush some paint onto the stamps with a foam brush and then stamp. I have found it better to not have too much paint on the stamp. Have fun!
Thanks for asking this question! I've never stamped with rubber and acrylic paint, either, but it scares me. Acrylic paint dries so fast and doesn't come off brushes, etc. I worry that it would get into nooks and crannies of a stamp, dry, and ruin the stamp. I'd love to hear from folks who've done it and can calm my fears!
I prefer using foam stamps with paint, but if you do use them with regular stamps clean them immediately, using a toothbrush helps get into the grooves. And be aware alot of the scrapbook paints like MM dry even faster than regular acrylic paint, so have that cleaning solution standing by
Don't be afraid, give it a try!
I've done it quite a few times. I use a sponge brush to spread the paint out on a paper plate and then just put the stamp into it like an ink pad (so as not to get brush lines or bubbles) but with a lighter "stamping" touch. It doesn't have the crispiness of using an ink pad, but I wasn't going for that look. I used regular acrylic paint and just cleaned the stamp with a toothbrush, warm water, and dish soap with no problems.
I think using Foam Stamps is the best with acrylic paints. Let me give you an enabling tip. If you go to www.pebblesinmypocket.com they are running a sale this month that if you buy two foam stamp sets this month they will give you for free the 3 prong applicator, pom pom refills, and 3 individual Pebbles acrylic paints for FREE! That is a great deal!!
I stamped an entire dresser and nightstand for my dd's with Watercolor flowers? (the original one) and acrylic paints. They worked great. I just used a toothbrush to clean them and what little ink is still on there has never been a problem.
The wood mounts are another story... but since I've gone unmounted it is no longer a problem that they are pink and green!
You don't need a code. You just let them know you are wanting to take advantage of the special in the comment section. Be sure and let them know what colors you want. you can pick any three from all 4 color families!
I used a piece of felt on a paper plate as my pad - just squeeze a bit of paint onto the felt and use it like an ink pad. Cleaned the stamps with a toothbrush and a bit of water after painting. It was lots of fun!
