Default stampamajig-to buy or not buy

I'm considering ordering the stampamajig & just wanted to hear feed-
back about it. Easy to work with? Are you glad you got it? A waste of
$$$? Thanks in advance for replies!

It is not a COMPLETE waste of time. If you have a pretty good eye (symetrically speaking), you could probably do without it. But it is nice to help you line up stamps that you may close to one another. Guess it is just a matter of opinion. I have one, but seldom use it, because I think have a pretty good symetrical eye. I have a friend who uses it for all her DD SU stamps (2 step stamping)...she like them to be VERY even and together.

I personally love mine since I can't seem to write or stamp in a straight line. I got mine at Joann's with a 50% off coupon, so that made it even better!

I couldn't stamp without it. There are so many cards I use to mess up because I couldn't see exactly how to line them up. But not anymore, the stampamajig has made all the difference. It only takes a moment and saves you from wasting paper. Or having a card that's just off.

Well, my eyes are pretty old (along with the rest of me) & sometimes I
think my eyes play tricks on me so it SEEMS like a good idea concept-
wise, but just wondering how much I'd actually use it & if it's easy to
work with.

It is a great tool (especially if you do a lot of scrapbooking). I personally think that it is worth the $$$. As was said before, it is a matter of personal opinion. It is just one of those things where it would be nice if you could try it before you buy it. Good luck!!!

This is a MUST have!! I don't use mine EVERY time I stamp, but almost. I use it ALL of the time!! To be honest, I felt really stupid when I first got it. I couldn't figure out how to use it...no even after somebody showed me. It is NOT a hard tool to use, and everybody around me had it figured out very quickly. I demo it often now that it finally 'clicked' in my tiny little brain, and so far nobody else has been confused!! I think I just had a bad case of mommy brain at the time. This is one of those items that makes me wish that EVERYTHING I purchased got this much use out of it!

Get it!!
That's what I say It's amazing how easy it is to use and the results you get. I was forever having to do stuff over because it wasn't straight or in the right spot. Now there are no do overs

Ok, I'm pretty easy, I guess. And pretty persnickety, too. Sounds like
something I'd want to have. A 50%c coupon from JoAnn's or a 40%'er
from Michael's sounds like a plan. We had no flyer from either place
in last Sunday's paper. No fair! Better luck this weekend. Thanks to
everyone for your input. I love you guys!

I have had one for close to 2 yrs and can count on one hand how many times I have used it. It is not because it isn't useful because it is really a super tool-the possiblities are endless if you want to take the time to use it-I am simply too lazy to add in the extra steps... :? JMHO..

I use mine quite a bit and it has really increased the pleasure I get out of stamping. I used to get really frustrated with trying to line things up -- I guess I just don't have the eye! I almost got rid of my alphabet stamps because I could never make anything look good (and I'm not a perfectionist at all).

The SAMJ helps a LOT and I wouldn't do without it! Now I'm waiting for my wheel guide to see if I can manage to wheel a straight line.

spammie-

Silly me!   We just gotta have it all, right?

Cassandranet-
The wheel guide was gonna be my next question, since I've started
acquiring more wheels. I sure need all the help I can get getting
stuff in a straight line.
Well, getting closer to another 50 bucks gets me closer to another
SAB set, right? So it shouldn't be a waste of any $$$.

I love mine!! I usually do a LOT of cards of the same design around holidays, etc., so it's great for getting stuff lined up the same on each one. I don't use it on EVERY card I make, but I find it's well worth it!!

Good luck!

I'm glad you asked. I have been debating on getting one. As a demo I think it has to be worth it even if I don't use it as much. But there is always going to be someone at a workshop that will love it and want to buy it.

Default Stampamajig

I have to admit I am fussy about stamping and lining things up.

I have had a Stampamajig for many years and use it all the time.

Last week I was stamping a card and got to the final stages when I goofed and didnt press down hard enough. I looked down and realized that part of the image was missing. I quickly grabbed by Stampamajig and carefully lined it up, reinked my stamp for the area that was missing and stamped over the image again and it came out perfect.

So it saved the card that I had already invested a lot of time in making.

It is well worth the cost.

Love mine, especially for dominos and letters. Here's a tip if you do end up gettin it, stamp your image on vellum rather than the plastic. You can keep it and use it every time you position that image. (Don't be impressed, I read it elsewhere!

I'm going to be impressed anyway - I hadn't heard this tip before, so thanks!

I also really like my SAMJ - I use it mostly for two step stamping like Simple Sketches - it takes the "hit or miss" out of it!

I have another question. I can see the use when you are talking about alphabets or stamps that are close together... I don't have one so this may be a stupid question. Ok, for two step stampin... how does that work? I mean, I don't get it. Wouldn't the accuracy be dependent upon how you assembled your stamps or is there something I'm missing? I need to get one and play with it.

Angie, that's the beauty of the SAMJ. You stamp your "practice" image on the clear plastic and put the plastic on top of your first layer image to see how it looks. Then, because you have the SAMJ you can stamp your "real" second layer image exactly where you want it EVERY time.

My husband made me one. I just made a wood t and put formica on it and then I use an acrylic block with it.

I also made my wheel guide. A clear plastic ruler with double thick pop dots on the bottom works perfectly.

I am lazy too and I don't use it often since I tend to eye most things. But when I need it, it is the best one out there IMHO. I have 2 acrylic ones that are sitting in a drawer somewhere that I never use. I like the height of the SAMJ because it makes it easy to slide the stamp right down in the corner. I love the vellum idea too!

Love it - love it - love it! Although I don't use it every time I stamp, every time I am going to be trying to line things up, out it comes. I especially use it every time I use the alphabet stamps, cause there is nothing more frustrating than getting your whole title done, only to have the last letter be way uneven and have to start again (aaaargh!)

By the way, I'm also loving the wheel guide so far. I never had too many problems with getting the wheels to "print" straight on small pieces of cardstock for cards, etc, but couldn't ever seem to do background pages for scrapbooking without having at least a few of them go way crooked. It's solved now - love this problem solver too!

Went without one for 3 1/2 years, and got mine 2 months ago. I LOVE IT! You can do "perfect" with it. I even double stamped a pumpkin from Carved and Candlelit perfectly to get a deeper orange. Lined up just right! I think it's well worth the $.

Default Wheel guide as an alternative

I don't use the SAMJ now that I have the wheel guide. If you attach the two pieces of the wheel guide at a right angle, it can be used just like the SAMJ for exact stamp placement. You would just have to supply your own window sheet or vellum. Plus, you then get all the other uses of the wheel guide. I was a total wheel clutz before the wheel guide. Now I might actually pull out a wheel at a demonstration....

Summertime... OOHHHH... now I get it. Ok, it wasn't on my GOT TO HAVE IT list, but now it is. Now I just need to pick another 140 dollars to go with the order. Can't just order ONE thing at a time. That would be a crime.

I have the wheel guide but I haven't needed to use it yet. Can't wait to get the SAMJ

No matter how carefully you assemble your stamps, you still won't be able to get the different image layers perfectly aligned. Trust me, I've tried and failed. I was about to get rid of my Terrific Tulips set out of frustration till I finally bought the Stamp-a-ma-jig! I also got tired of my Little Shapes backgrounds always being misaligned.

IMO, I think that it is well worth it, especially if you're particular about the "straightness" of your stamped images. I like using mine and realized another reason I liked it. Last night while stamping, I didn't have my entire stamp inked enough when I stamped on my paper. So I just aligned the stamp-a-ma-jig template with my image and re-stamped it...and voila...a perfectly placed image!

I gotta add my ringing endorsement to the Stamp-a-ma-jig! It's saved me SO much frustration...wish I'd gotten it much sooner. I always have that problem of my greetings going up or downhill...this way, they're always perfectly straight. And it's good for lining up alphabets, putting leaves on flowers just so, outlines like Shapes and Shadows...totally worth the $$! It does take a few extra minutes, but when you think of the time you've already put into the card, it's worth it!

HTH,
Amanda

Ain't that the truth......

I love mine. I don't always use it, but it's one of the best tools I have! My workshop participants always seem to "need" it...
