I thoroughly cleaned both surfaces. It did not help. The stamp is very small and I thought maybe that was the problem. Not enough surface to really catch on to the block. :-( Thank you for responding!
Not all clear stamps are made from the same material and the stickyness of the stamp depends on what it is made from. Vinyl stamps (most often are the kind you will find that are made in China) don't tend to cling very well. Photopolymer stamps (most brands that are made in the US are photopolymer) should stick quite well.
If your stamp is vinyl you may need something to help it stick to your block. Perhaps some double-stick tape will do the trick?
If your stamp is made in the USA, and therefore a photopolymer stamp, you can try washing it with a mild dish soap & water mix and see if that restores the cling. If not, I suggest that you contact the company that made the stamp to let them know that you have a dud.
When I have that problem, I just wash the stamp in dish soap and water and wash the clear block as well. If you make your own stamp cleaner, which is what I do, you can use that as well. It usually fixes it for me.

With what and in how much amounts do you use to make your own stamp cleaner. Sounds very interesting to me. Does it work all of the time? Would probably be much cheaper than buying the commercial stuff.
Spray mount comes in a spray paint type of can which can be obtained at places like Michael's
There is also Tombo Mono Adhesive rolling tape in a removable formula--it's in a green roller cassette. I have used that to hold stamps on and it works pretty good. You could probably just roll a small amount onto your block and then stick your stamp on. It's comes off the blocks pretty easy.

I use a dropperful of glycerin, a dropperful of dishsoap and the rest distilled water. I add some rosewater scent to it as well. You can get that at the health food store. I don't do EXACT measurements but, I get pretty close. Either way, works like a charm. :mrgreen:
I use scotch double stick tape and just leave it on my block. You can use the same piece of tape many many times.
I do this too! Great idea! I have alot of unmounted stamps and I just put double back on a wooden block and peel off when I am done with the stamp....and the tape is good for a long time...You can save aTON of money by getting unmounted Bellas and Elzybells and doing this....
Alene's tack it over and over works great too on unmounted. I have several Studio G clear stamps that worked great the first time, but tend to never stick again, (i guess that it was i should expect for a dollar). The double sided tape works great.
OK I found this out by mistake. I was putting fun foam on the back of my unmounted stamps and then glued them to a sheet of plastic cling sheet with crystal glaze. The crystal glaze did not stick to the cline sheet but the stamps now cline to my blocks. After the crystal glaze dried, it is now clinging. So you might try putting on a thin layer of crystal glaze.

How much would this make? I need to know what size bottle to put it in, which would give me an idea about how much distilled water to use. Does this remove Memories or Whispers ink?
I am going to try the double sided sticky tape idea. I have sooooo many clear stamps that have lost their cling and don't respond to washing at all. I also have so many rubber stamps that I would love to take off their blocks and now I have a way to get them to stick!!!! Thank you ALL for sharing.

I make it this way and I use 8 ounces/1 cup of distilled water.
I use ZIG 2 way glue...cover the back of stamp...looks wet and blue, then when it dries it's clear. I also use this on my stamps that I have taken off their wooden block. I didn't think I would like them off of the wood, but it's great. It's much easier to lineup for placement. (when you take stamps off wooden block, I took off both layers. Most of they are still really sticky without glue.) I have over 300 stamps done so far, it's easy to do. Saves lots of space too!
tap water has impurities in it, and will go bad quickly. Besides, I would rather baby my stamps a bit, and I don't want a bunch of minerals and stuff on my stamps.

lmcgraw01 has is correct, especially if you get your water through the city. It has chlorine in it and flouride, etc, which is good for us, however it is not good for the stamps. It tends to dry them out. The glycerine, which is cheap in the RX dept, is a softening agent. So don't leave that out.
